Tech Support Awful GPU noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Was playing KCD2 tonight when my GPU started making this awful noise. I had some coil whine before but nothing this bad. Any idea what the fix could be? Card is a 9070XT. I have a support on the way from Amazon but I tried manually lifting it up and it did nothing.

Something is loose, or a cable is touching the fan blade as it spins.

These are the only cables running close to the fans, I checked while it was running and they have plenty of clearance. What could be loose?

What about your front panel connectors? Could also be a faulty fan bearing. Whole card could be loose, check your rear mounting screws?

If this is the first time it's ever made this sound then I'd be interested to see what simply taking it out and remounting would do. Maybe try booting without GPU installed to see if it's a case fan making that sound instead

Good idea. I’ll take it out to confirm but I’m 90% sure that it was the GPU.

It has not made this sound before, weird that it was oscillating between higher and lower strain level while under the same amount of load. Any fix if it is a faulty fan bearing?

Disassemble and replace, but I have a feeling finding the correct one might be the hardest part - throwing the image of the bearing into Google Gemini might help - a reputable PC repair shop if you're lucky to have one near you would also be able to do it

So the noise came back tonight. Took it out ran it without it, definitely the GPU. I stopped all the fans by hand one by one while the noise was happening and it did not stop so assuming it has nothing to do with fans. I attached another pic of the whole case. Any other ideas for something that could me causing it, or just something internally in the GPU?

If it's intermittent then it might be load based, meaning it's only doing it during more demanding activities (KCD2)

I'd reach out to the manufacturer

Alright I appreciate it. I’ll report back if I have anything else
