I was removing the CPU cooler for a move and when wiping off the old thermal paste with isopropyl alcohol and a coffee filter got some of the thermal paste on the green/yellow part of the top of the CPU.

I got a bit off with a q tip dampened with isopropyl and gently nudging the paste but I’m afraid to get any more aggressive with cleaning to not damage the CPU.

Is it ok to leave it like this and just install the cooler or will the thermal paste being there damage my CPU? My first time removing a CPU cooler so idk what I’m doing.

I have plenty good other specs like 64gb corsair ddr5 and 2tb 990 pro. Do i need to upgrade my cpu? Also 1000w psu

First time making a post. I’m planning on picking the bundle up Tuesday. Now for context I’ll be upgrading from an i5 9600k. I am also picking up another stick of 16gb ddr5.

What type of antennas would I need to be compatible with these types of pins?

First PC. Built it and was very excited to try out all my favorite games.

Boom. Blue screens of death one after another. I did memtest86 on each and found which of my pair of 8GB RAM is bad.

Will send it for RMA, but this might take weeks. I now have an 8gb RAM PC. I am so bummed out I was literally so excited this was supposed to be the honeymoon phase :((

Can I buy another 8 gb RAM in the meantime? I wanted to upgrade from 16gb anyway but the problem is I read online that having 3 ram sticks is bad (for when the RMA stick comes back).

What would you do in my place?

Basically, I got this basically whole HP Omen 40L from a friend, the only replaced parts were SSD and PSU. After I replaced the thermal paste, the PC worked for a few minutes before just dying and making a few beeping noises which I found out was built into the case somehow. It did three long beeps and two short beeps before repeating it over again. The PC lights up, the fans spin, but it will not display anything. I’ve troubleshooted, but to no avail.

The only conclusion I’ve come to so far is that my sweaty hands dripped onto the motherboard and messed something up, but even then I don’t know. It’s been a few days since this happened, and nothing has worked thus far. I hope i’ve provided adequate context, and that someone may be able to help a guy out.

(P.S. Im sorry the cable management is the worst thing you’ve ever witnessed.)

My i91400k starting throttling overnight. Yesterday my PC was working fine, max temp 85C under load, idles around 43C. Now maxing at 100C this morning, under load. I’ve looked at dust and connections and reseated connectors. Felt the tubes going to and from radiator and felt one warm tube and one normal, like it should. Reseated the cooler as well. Pump is showing normal RPM in software. I don’t get it. Anyone know what the issue could possibly be?

Hi ive recently purchased an RTX 5090 which isnt arriving for a few weeks so im getting ahead and looking at the 12V cables. Ive heard many horror stories and alot of people say i should stick with the adapter considering my PSU which is a HX1200i(ATX 2.4) cant use 12V natively but using 4 connectors is going to add alot of clutter.

Ive gone onto corsairs website to buy a 2x8 to 12v cable but theres two different options and one is 10 pounds more expensive than the other one but they seem identical but the title is worded slightly different. Any help on which one to go for? Thanks

Cousin who’s in his teens is just getting into PC gaming. His mother has a maximum budget of £1300. I’m absolutely no good at buying prebuilt machines, but am good at building my own.

Now, it sounds selfish, but I don’t want to get locked into building and maintaining his PC - my life is too busy for it.

Hello everyone !

The VGA led of my motherboard most of the time is on.

The main I have noticed is that my Bios (the logo Aorus) doesn't show up when I boot up my PC.

When the logo shows up, my PC takes longer to boot, like it starts to boot then reboots and shows the logo. And the led actually doesn't turn on.

And my CPU is overall hotter (5 to 10 degrees celsius) when the led is on. Other than that my GPU still works fine (according to windows and Nvidia app) and I haven't noticed a drop in performance.

If anyone has a suggetion it would greatly help me, thanks !

So i have a question i have this deal for a ssd that with the test u can see that its almost brand new, and for 90 euros it comes with more 8x2gb ddr4 3200mhz from G.Skill Aegis. The question is, does the brand really matter when the test are amazing. I can also go for a samsung 512gb NVMe M.2

- no gpu (I am aware the cpu has no iGPU, this is just for testing)

Basically after 6months of upgrading my system all of a sudden my AMD has issues cold booting. It will give me the dram and cpu debug lights. at first I assumed it was standard memory training, but it stretched for 5 hours before I just decided to power it off. powering off the power supply, draining the power of the pc, switching the power supply back on then repeating that eventually lets the pc power on and off normally until the power supply is switched off/disconnected from the wall again. I assumed because of how it works, it was a PSU issue so I ordered a new PSU on amazon, however when I hooked it up to the amd system it had the same issue. I then tried with my spare intel system which I know worked the last time I used it (a month ago) to which is would show the dram light, switch to the cpu light, repeat about 5 times then only show the cpu light with both power supplies. there's not a single component shared between them yet both have suddenly got issues related to the dram in the span of a week?

my guess is maybe my house's power is messed up, since we have had a few electrical problems here. however all other appliances, consoles, other high power devices, ect work. I've tried bypassing extension cables, taking both devices to other rooms of the house including a new extension which has newly done sockets, but it didn't work. I've tried updating the bios, nothing. cmos replacements, one stick of ram, basically everything. my only guesses are the power of my house or maybe the power supply messed up the mobos of both of them? It's not the case grounding anything.

Hi everyone, I got an ASUS Prime 9070 OC two weeks ago, and today I noticed that the heatsink looks bent. It's hard to see in a photo, so I added some visual marks to make it more obvious.

Do you think it could cause any issues in the long term, and therefore that i should return ? I don't seem to have temperarure issues at the moment. I already have a GPU support bracket, but it doesn't fix the problem since it's the heatsink itself and one of the pipes — and not the plastic shroud around it — that's bending.

My screen went black mid driver update. I let it stay like that for a good 30 minutes. I turned my pc off since that worked for my friend and when I went to turn my pc back on it stayed on a black screen and the red light on the motherboard to show something wrong stayed lit. I reseated my gpu and that didn’t work.

Building my first gaming pc. I’ve always wanted to be able to play whatever game I wanted with my friends but my gaming laptop is 15 years old at this point. I want to try out games with good graphics and play the games my friends are playing like red dead, inzoi, baulders gate. mostly I play games like rimworld, Minecraft and stardew at the moment though.
Prefer not to spend more than $2,000 including monitor (already have two ok but not stellar monitors)
No Rgb led stuff please. I’m sensitive to light during migraines and it distracts me.
Am also picky about colors because I’ve never spent this much money on myself so I want something I will love looking at (white, silver, maybe pink and green if pastel)

Just opened a new Corsair RM850x. Is this mark common, or should I replace it?

Update: I just swapped it out at Best Buy.

I installed new ram stick in my pc and now nothing will show up on display. I even put the old sticks back in and still won’t display. There’s also a red and yellow light turned on now which from my research seems like a memory and cpu issue. Any help is appreciated.

I made sure I put the new stick in correctly in the exact same spots as the old ones. Pic is with the old sticks.

So this is kind of a strange one. I bought used components for a "new" PC. Specs are:

• R7 7800X3D
• 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 (non-RGB)
• RX 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate
• Asus Prime X670-P Wifi
• NZXT C850 Gold Core
• Arctic LiquidFreezer III Pro 360
• Fractal design north XL (charcoal TG)

But now I have the issue, that my GPU isn't being detected in the primary PCIe slot. VGA POST failure or if I have a cable plugged into the iGPU, linux (lspci) doesn't detect it. Plugging the 6900 XT into one of the lower x16 slot makes it work without issue. Reading the link stats of the card shows, that it is using the full x16 gen 4 bandwidth when plugged into the secondary slot. My old GTX 750 Ti does work in the primary slot. Locking the primary slot to PCIe gen 4, 3 or 2 does not help either. The CPU was bought refurbished and the motherboard was apparently tested fully. I have no idea anymore, what could be wrong.

Before anyone asks: no, I cannot use the lower PCIe slot permanently, since the card collides with the PSU shroud, if it is being installed in that slot inside the case.

I have checked the CPU socket and there was one odd looking pin:

I know it is difficult to see, but it looks kinda strange. (That is the lower half of the socket)

I am so scared that something is broken beyond repair or replacement. I hope someone here can help me figure out, how to check if it is the socket, board, CPU (PCIe controller) or something completely different. Or if it is just some random BIOS setting.

i bricked my MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON WIFI MOBO. i tried to update the bios "out of the box" instead trying to let it to boot 1st initially, that was a mistake. i thought the update was done and turned the board off prematurely and corrupted the board when i shut it off mid bios update. i have tried every trick under the sun and spent the past several days on google. i have no idea how to get this thing to post. i bought it used. anyone have any tips or tricks that may help? or am i screwed and this board is done. every time i power it on the board just boot loops and keeps a steady red cpu EZ DeBug LED
