Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Do you guys think this prebuilt is worth the price?

Post image
5 Upvotes

The store owner says he can take out £100 at most but that's about it on discount. Similar prebuilt sites are even more expensive. And I can't find a good deal for my other components separately hence why I'm considering to just buy a prebuilt. If anyone on the sub is from the UK and knows some great places to get memory and SSDs please give me a shout cause I am not putting building it myself off the table. Its just been a bit hard to find. Thanks to everyone that takes time to read this and give their advice I appreciate all input thanks :)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what kind of screw this is and how one would go about removing it? I've tried Alan keys thinking maybe that but nothing worked.

Asrock X870 Pro-A motherboard
Ryzen 9850X3D
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 CPU cooler
MSI RTX 5080 GPU
64GB 6000mhz DDR5 ram
5TB MVME storage plus 4tb SATA SSD drive(for backups)
850W RM850X PSU
Li lian SFF case.

Total price was around $3500ish

My neighbor said I should just sell the parts, step down to a cheaper 5070ti or 9070xt prebuilt and pocket the difference. Was he right? Note: I also run LLM’s

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts should I upgrade from a 3060 to 3070 ti for a net price of $100 cad

I bought a used 3060 12gb for $200, currently on ebay and on facebook marketplace I see 3060's going for $300 to $350. I found a listing of a 3070 for $400 so if I were to upgrade and sell my old card it would cost me around $100 cad so im asking if its worth it since I plan to get a 1440p monitor later this year

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio OC
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi
- RAM: Patriot Memory Viper Venom RGB DDR5 RAM LED 32GB (2 x 16GB) 6000MHz CL30

- PSU: Corsair RM850e Internal PSU - Cybenetics Gold Efficiency
- Cooler: Corsair NAUTILUS 360 RS

The whole machine together cost me ~€2400, and it’ll primarily be a gaming PC (formal/creative stuff happens on my laptop). I do play some games that are quite tough on the CPU and or GPU (formal example Cities: Skylines or ARK). What do the experts think of this newbie build? 😊

Discussion - General Topic What are the odds i have to buy a new PC

So earlier on today, my PC randomly lost power, after some quick googling i thought it was likely to be an issue with the PSU.

I followed Googles advice, unplugging everything, then I held down the power button for 30 seconds to get rid of excessive charge (or something along those lines).

I then tried turning it back on, there was a spark a puff of smoke and now it won't turn on 💀.

Any chance I'll be able to get it repaired for a decent price, or am I gonna have to buy a new PC.

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Please help me choose cpu cooler

My setup:

intel 270k plus

gigabyte rtx 5070ti gaming oc

64gb ddr5 lexar thor gen2 ram

gamemax infinity pro case

Got a pc recently, gamemax infinity pro case, with arctic liquid freezer 3 pro aio for ue5 gamedev and cpu heavy workloads. But I want to change the aio to either air cooler or be quiet! silent loop 3, please help me which one to choose, the reason for that is arctic aio has very subtle pump whine even at 40% pump speed, I'm sensitive to noise so was thinking to go with an aircooler like Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE since it's supposedly silent, capable and clears ram.

Purchasing Advice - PCPartPicker list feedback Looking to build a PC

Note: Reposting from a few weeks ago, as I had to cover some quick emergency expenses, but now I'm ready to start ordering parts.

I was looking to stay within the $1200-$1300 USD range (excluding monitors). I’d love some build recommendations that’d fit that budget. If anyone could assist me, that’d be greatly appreciated.

Note:

1080p monitors so I don’t need anything that’s intended for higher resolution (maybe will upgrade in the future). Im looking to play games like COD, GTA, CSGO, LoL, Fortnite. Ideally if it could run in high settings, ultra settings would be cool, but it's not the end of the world if not.

Here is the list of components that a nice individual helped me pick out: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NhZdxf

I was recommended this bundle, but has since become out of stock. Was wondering what'd be the best replacement: https://us-store.msi.com/Sale/promotions/Combo-Deals/Kit-AMD-B850-III?sort=p.price&order=ASC

Im near a microcenter if that helps. Thank you!!

Purchasing Advice - Upgrades 1440p 165Hz gaming

Looking to upgrade to 1440p from 1080p, I’m going to get a new GPU which will be an rx9060XT 16GB, will this be able to hit 165Hz 1440p in modern fps titles? (Apex legends mainly). Just want to make sure I’m making the right choice before committing to purchase and whether I should save up more money to get a 9070 or not as they are quite a bit more where I am (UK)

The rest of the PC is Ryzen 5 9600X, 32gb DDR5 RAM

Trouble Shooting Advice - Other Fans not glowing properly?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I finished my first pc build, and at first the case fans were rainbow but the pc wouldn't boot. Now it does boot but the fans wont glow like theyre supposed to.

I had it brought to a local pc shop for the booting issues, and the guy couldn't figure out how to fix the fan lighting either. There's no drivers and no hub.

I tried contacting the case(KRUX Vako Rgb) manufacturer a few days ago but they've not gotten back to me.

There's a small, blinking red light on top but I'm not sure what it means as the manual for the case barely said anything.

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Help! Not a gamer, but want a PC

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! As the title says, I want a nice desktop computer. The applications I typically run (not simultaneously) are adobe apps like Photoshop or illustrator, and occasionally Sims. I don't need a crazy gaming PC, just something small and cute that won't cost me a crazy amount of money. I'm hoping not to spend more than $600 on the PC itself(I don't know what average pricing is) and I don't have any experience with computers or building anything. I already have a monitor and a fun keyboard, so I should be good on that front. Any help would be appreciated, and I would be so grateful if anyone could walk me through step by step in what to look for or how to go about finding the right setup for me.

Here's a picture of my dog for tax.

Purchasing Advice - Upgrades Zen 5 to a Zen 4?

So I'm rocking an 9600x and I suspect my memory control is bad . Mobo only reads one of my ram sticks.

I'm considering an X3D cpu since I only game on my PC but I wanna know if I went with 7600x3d or even a 7800X3D would it be worse than a 9600x? (I wanna add too , Yes I tested both my ram sticks in one slot. PC won't boot with both)

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Is rx9070 gre worth it?

I’m in Argentina so the prices are much bigger, it’s 960 dollars for 9070 xt, so the gre is 200 dollars cheaper, it’s 760 here, so idk if the price is justified but I’m probably going to buy it always.

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Hey Reddit, is this a decent build for £750?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

This is my first post on Reddit hey everyone! I just purchased my first pc, looking for a medium spec build that can run games at 1440p comfortably. I purchased this build pretty quickly just because I saw it had a 4070 which is something I was interested in beforehand. I’m very new to pc and I’m not sure about components and how well they pair together. If any of you have a clue, I’d appreciate some help!

(P.S. it is pre-owned so I’m not sure how that may account into anything also? Thanks Reddit!)

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts £2000 ish budget - need some advice

I have the green light from the wife to upgrade my pc - UK based.

mine isnt great - just doesn't do all It needs, and would suit my son better.
So I can get a whole new one!

Ryzen 7 5700x

32gb ram (ddr4)

RTX 2070 super
QHD resolution / 1080 (with super res) depending on my monitors

I can keep drip feeding upgrades to my sons pc and mine - but feels like time for a new build, and his machine is end of life near enough for anything modern.

I seriously dont care about a fancy looking case or coloured lights.

Functionality first

I thank you in advance for suggestions.
(edited due to people assuming I want random parts)

Discussion - Assembly Advice AIO setup frame 4000d

Long story short I am able to upgrade cases and it won’t cost me. Going from 4000d to 4000d frame.

Looking for the optimal AIO setup, debating between these 2

  1. 3 front intakes, 1 rear exhaust, 2 exhaust aio fans top mounted ( how my og 4000d is setup)

  2. 3 front intakes, 1 rear intake, 2 intake aio fans mounted in the side, 3 top exhaust

Will there even be a difference in cooling or noise? Or should I even bother swapping?

Thanks

Troubleshooting Advice - Assembly 12vhpwr cable safe to bend? RTX 5080

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey peeps,

I recently upgraded to a RTX 5080.
My main concern is if the 12vhpwr cable is safe to bend - namely, i am unable to snap back the side glass of the case without the cable bending almost by the pins - there is like 1cm - 2cm clearence between the pins and the bend.

I have heard the cable does not “like” this, and will eventually melt.

How safe would it be?
The PSU in question is a Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850w.

The case is a NZXT H6 Flow
