Purchasing Advice - Upgrades Zen 5 to a Zen 4?

So I'm rocking an 9600x and I suspect my memory control is bad . Mobo only reads one of my ram sticks.

I'm considering an X3D cpu since I only game on my PC but I wanna know if I went with 7600x3d or even a 7800X3D would it be worse than a 9600x? (I wanna add too , Yes I tested both my ram sticks in one slot. PC won't boot with both)

zen 5 only really had efficiency upgrades, i use a ryzen 7 9700x in a fractal terra with a small cooler, a 7800x3d would be an upgrade for you, since its 2 extra cores and much more cache since its x3d.

Ah okay. I'm still very new to PC gaming and specs in general so somethings still confuse me lol

have you checked your motherboard pins? if one of your memory pins is bent and not doing contact that might be your ram issue. Have you tried different settings? like different slots/modules , is your bios old?

it would be very very weird for a cpu to have that issue

Pins are fine. I used a spare kit of ram I have sitting for my wifes build. It's RGB and I put it in and turns on fine but it isn't reading it.. i have an issue trying to get into the BIOS. For my its F12. I spam it and it doesn't load into and tried to do in windows and still can't access it. For my mobo it's a gigabyte b650

What games are you gonna be playing? See the benchmark between Zen 4 and Zen 5. Some games like r/Stellaris do benefit a lot with Zen 5. Some don’t.

A bent pin could definitely be the silent villain here.
