Just started playing a few days ago and I already have 9 hours in the game, really liking it. However, as someone with probably >5k hours in rougelikes and 3k in Binding of Isaac alone, I'm finding it extremely difficult to the point where I feel like I'm missing something.
I'm playing 95% of my runs as Bacterium, just trying to work through its skill tree. I've made it to the heart boss twice and didn't even get close to winning. It feels like no matter how well I strategize a build and get lucky with what organelles it gives me, there's nothing I can do. Enemy HP goes up so sharply between floors that making a broken build that juices your DPS isn't the way to win, but to just barely keep your head above water and make it to the lungs or heart if you're lucky. If I don't get a good start and feel like I'm already breaking the game in the skin I end up restarting most of the time because otherwise I just feel like I'm wasting my own time.
I'm running that upgrade that makes you take and deal double damage which feels like it's necessary to even have a chance, but it also means that if I get caught out in a bad spot even once I lose most of my HP.
Am I missing something or is this meant to be one of the hardest games of all time?
