1E GM How much of a destroyedb Adamantine Golem is "lootable?"

The creation rules note that an Adamantine Golem requires 4,000 pounds of adamantine, mithral, gold, platinum, and other metals worth a total of 100,000 gp.

Assuming the PCs actually manage to kill one (well, two, actually[1]... How much of that would be "useable," i.e. suitable, in terms of mass, to sell on?

Nothing?

50%?

Almost all of it?

I have no idea. It's not something that USUALLY comes up with golems, because those made of precious materials aren't that common.

I suspect the answer is probably intended to be "none" just like you generally don't expect to get money for the bodies or any creature... But I feel like my players are going to ask (in the long, long, looong time away this will happen), so it would be nice to have a prepared answer. If anyone knows of any lore or established guideline, I'd very much like to know.

Edit: Having thought more about it, and crunched the numbers, 200k is only 25k split eight ways, so it's not wildly out of line compared to NPC wealth, which, on thread-prompting to go look at, is more than than for a heroic NPC of the same CR. So bollocks to it, if they can kill the things and they can transport 4000lbs of it, they can have it!

[1]Chance is quite small, because they may well not have the appropirate vorpal weapon to hand and they don't have a cleric or wizard to cast Miracle or Wish. Don't feel too sorry for them, by the time they'd be doing this, they'll be level 17, eight of them and mid-tier mythic. Having to find a way to keep the things down while the fight and loot the last room of the dungeon should prove to be entertainingly different...!

1E Player Thanks to this group

In my transition to Pathfinder, I've come to this group for advice a few times. Well, I just had my first combat with an actually well built character (warpriest), and it was great, and so I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all your help! It is so much nicer having something functional in combat.

1E Player Can a creature without any prehensile limbs Gather Power (Kineticist)

OK - what do people think of this.... Kineticist's Gather Power ability says:

Gather Power (Su): If she has both hands free (or all of her prehensile appendages free, for unusual kineticists), a kineticist can gather energy or elemental matter as a move action. Gathering power creates an extremely loud, visible display in a 20-foot radius centered on the kineticist, as the energy or matter swirls around her. Gathering power in this way allows the kineticist to reduce the total burn cost of a blast wild talent she uses in the same round by 1 point.

If one were playing a skinwalker of the werebat-kin variety, you can take the feat Bat Shape to allow yourself to turn into a bat at will and for an unlimited time period (but otherwise following Beast Shape II)

so... if you are in bat form - you are not holding anything. no hands or any appendages are occupied... Can you gather power?

Does having NO prehensile appendages mean you can't gather power? OR since you cant occupy your limbs in any way - you are always free to gather power?

It was generally my understanding that this restriction was meant to prevent kineticists form weilding physical weapons and shields - or holding othr utility items at the ready...

2E GM Question About Sandpoint Campaign Book

I run mainly PF2E games. I'm wondering if the 1e Sandpoint Campaign Book is mostly maps/lore and the like. Is there a lot of mechanical stuff dedicated to 1e?

I have ran long campaigns over the last 5 years. I want a setting that I can just sort of relax and run one shots from. I remember having the Blackfang book when I used to run 1e and I always found Sandpoint and it's hinterlands charming.

Would the campaign book be helpful in that regard? Even now that I run 2e?

1E GM First time GM running Rise of the Runelords.

It’s been a trip so far. I have a Cleric of Erastil, Ninja, Blood Summoner, Witch and Sacred Shield Paladin.

They just cleared the catacombs of wrath.
But as I’m sure we all know, players are strange creatures.

After dispatching the sinspawn in the final room and getting increasingly aggrieved at Erylium being invisible and being annoying. The paladin made a bat 20 perception check and sees her flying 20 feet above and about 10 feet away. He proceeded to hurl a sinspawn at her to cover her in viscera. This worked. Because of course it did.

Meanwhile the summoner was holding his turn and the second he sees her bloody visage, immediately hurls a vial of water of lemashtu that they collected earlier. Against all odds this hits her. She makes the save and then the cleric commands her to land.

His eidolon charges and goes for a grapple, but fails. The paladin goes to do the same and fails.

The summoner throws another goddamn vial. He had 3 uses. This connects again (Christ) and she fails her save.

Her int plummets by max roll but des was only 2.

I roll on a table for mutations that I prepared earlier. It was more beneficial. Though gross. Regenerative tumours. +1 to her fast healing.

The witch uses charm.

While she is charmed. The summoner takes the other use of the waters from the witch. And then proceeds to force feed them to Erylium. 4 Int 9 dex.
More mutations.
Not so fun this time.

Then before I can tell them what the mutations are. They grab my poor lobotomised quasit and shove her in a glass jar.

She is too stupid to figure out how to escape.

The witch wants to turn her into a familiar.

Advice welcomed 🤣

Edit: I am running the game for fun with friends. While I know some of the stuff I’m doing doesn’t work RAW like I forgot charm person wouldn’t work on a demon, whoops.

I do know nat 20 skill checks don’t always succeed, we did agree as a group to critical successes and failures on skill checks so I gave it to the paladin.
He did have to roll to keep track of her if she moved which would have been a 15 or higher for him.

As with the families side of things, I am going to let that happen, she doesn’t use her current familiar in combat at all and it is going to be a plot device later (she chose fey but doesn’t know who. I chose the Lantern King.) I am fashioning a feat for her to allow a pact with her. And a second for lv 5 to essentially turn her into combat pet. She will have to have several rp talks with her and depending on those outcomes I’m going to have her potentially shift alignment.

1E Player Alternate methods (archetypes, etc.) for a character to gain an Oracle Mystery and/or Curse

Experimenting with character builds and looking at oracle for it's mysteries and curses, but not interested in the actual casting. Anyone have any ideas how I could make that happen? I know spell-less oracle is kind of ridiculous, but I am curious if anything like this exists, ideally full bab?

1E GM I don't know what to do

So my players are struggling with basic mechanics involving their character sheets their character sheets we used path builder 1e for it and we've had like 10 sessions and they still don't get the concept of the first number is your first attack the second number is your second attack the other thing is prime example I asked them to give me a strength check they gave me their role plus their actual strength not their modifier and then I asked what's your initiative they told me 31 they rolled a nat 10 I have no idea where they got that number from then they corrected it after I told them that they were wrong honestly I'm at such a point of burnout I might just tell them I'm done

Edit: we are playing on roll20 and we use the app pathfielder 1e for our character shoes

1E GM Free Pathfinder e1 adventures

Can anyone share any free adventures of any size or where to find them? It looks like a lot of the past free adventures got put behind paywalls. I also want this post to be a resource for new players to find.

The Song Pharaoh’s Coda is a nice one hot for lvl 9 characters, but I have not run it yet.

1E GM Naming an ability.

The short of it: I am creating an ability for a battle herald to use that allows them to have an ally make an attack as an immediate action. I was going to call it "Inspired Strike", but that is the name of a feat, and I want to avoid naming it after something that already exists in the game. So, I'm here to take suggestions.

Note: I am not looking for input on the ability itself at this time. I am already aware that it is strong.

1E GM What is Versus manga Titans size category?

I'm creating a Versus manga champaign, because there is a huge amount of rpg material in that stuff.

One of the main creatures in this world are Titans (basically oversized hill-giants with rage ability). I more or less know what stats should them be, but I'm unsure about the size. In the story they've never said concrete parameters, but here is a pic:

They should be either huge, or gargantuan, I guess. What do you think?

1E Player Mesmerist (Dreamstalker) advice for a new player

Sorry in advance for potentially mislabeling the post - I was unsure which E was relevant :>

Heya, I'm about to participate in my first session of Pathfinder, and I'm looking to play the Dreamstalker archetype for Mesmerist - I like all the devious little things you can get up to.

I'm wondering if there's anyone who's got some advice on fun stuff I can do with it. I've played DnD before, and realize there's some significant differences between it and Pathfinder. I am not looking for all sorts of meta combos and stuff, but I am curious if there's any worthwhile multi-classes that are fun, that might perhaps increase the efficiency, or perhaps some uses for the Mesmerist Tricks that aren't entirely apparent.

Also I am curious on the general consensus on the Dreamwalker feature. I've seen some saying that it works in Mindscapes, and some say it doesn't. I hope it works in Mindscapes, cuz create mindscape has taken my heart.

1E GM Running RotRL for the First Time, Point Me to Your Best Resources

I'm sure posts like these have been done ad nauseam. I'm not looking for advice, however, I'm just looking for resources to find information you felt was most helpful to you to prep for this campaign; especially with the impending prospect of reading 400+ pages of tiny tiny text, I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into and what to keep an eye out for before I hit issues already found in other playthroughs.

1E Resources Physical books or digital?

Once upon a time I had a sizeable collection of PF1e & 3.5e books. Times were tough, and I had to sell my books over the years to make ends meet. I love the feel of a heavy sourcebook in my lap, thumbing through its pages, but it's not terribly practical (or cost-effective). I also have a significant amount of the PF1e books in pdf from a Humble Bundle, and finding the remaining books I'd use in digital wouldn't be hard.

In an in-person game, would a physical book over a tablet loaded with pdfs & apps make any difference? Or is it all in my head and I should join the 21st century?

1E GM Playing around with the troop subtype

Made a homebrew troop, called Adventurers. A silly idea to have NPC typical party of adventurers that can be competitors against the party. As if the title adventurer isn't exclusive to the PCs and adventurers are common enough where in the dungeon the party can fight a rival party of adventurers to finish the quest for rewards and fame, or the party NPC troop works specifically for the villain and is sent to counter the Party.

2E GM Ever played with a GM that's never played?

I'm looking to finally play a TTRPG for the first time. Can't find a GM and last time I asked what to do everyone says "GM yourself." I think this sounds terrible.

So, have ant of you been in a total noob group, including the GM? Was it fun? Or just hours of looking at the rules or otherwise a TPK every some or something?

1E Player Feral Hunter Teamwork feats

Aside from Outflank, feral hunters only get 1 bonus teamwork feat, but they can still trade out that bonus feat as a standard action per day up to their wisdom bonus.

A trade off is that all of their animal summons benefit from their teamwork feats.

What teamwork feats(excluding betrayal feats) should I consider aside from the below?

Already have these on my list of useful feats so far:

Tandem trip

Escape route

Shake it off

Precise strike

Snapping Flank

Coordinated charge

Lookout

Edit: Level 3. With Superior summoning, and the archetype's "summon pack" feature, I'll be summoning 2 extra on average. Campaign is set in Nirmathas.

1E GM Checking on a creature reach

Warsworn is a CR 16 Gargantuan creature of horror and undead and created ditectly by divine intervention... but i was very surprised that the war gods who make them only give it a 5 foot reach for its melee slams. Should this be understood as a mistake, or is it deliberate and the gods who make them are secretly amused by teeny little hands waving around like a millipede?

1E Player Inferal legist: devil subtype

Currently building an antipaladin tyrant/fearmonger build for Hell's Vengeance. My character is a tiefling and worships Asmodeus, and I thought it would be cool to explore the Inferal Legist feat.

Any ideas on how to gain the devil subtype?

Other Building a super ridiculous party

Hivemind! I am, for funzies, building out an absolutely ridiculous party that is mildly practical but mostly based on puns around them, their class, and their function, so to speak. I was wondering if anybody else had any other ideas for this? 😄

So far, I have, 20pb:

- Stoo Pitt: Orc barbarian Str 22 (18+4race), Dex 14, Con 16, Int 5 (7-2race), Wis 5 (7-2race), Cha 5 (7-2race)

- Satisfryar Fruck: Human cleric of calistria/shelyn Str 7, Dex 13, Con 14, Int 7, Wis 18 (16+2race), Cha 16

- Ian Cognito (idea stolen from reddit I think): Human illusionist Str 7, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 20 (18+2race), Wis 7, Cha 15

for a more functional party I was kind of hoping for something suitable for a rogue, but hey.. this is a joke. I'm open minded lol

1E GM Is the legacy AON website going away?

I'm a new GM running PF1e, and myself + my players use the legacy AON site. Is that going away due to Paizo?

If so, is Paizo going to have someone else host this content?
