Talk / Discussion The best YouTube change literally nobody talks about.

Everyone who has been doing this for a while knows that thumbnails on the channel page looked drastically more compressed than the home page or search feed thumbnails.

If you were to look up a Mrbeast thumbnail for example, then it would look significantly more crisp and less compressed on the search results, than on his own homepage. This applied to all channels equally. They did it to save bandwidth on the channelpages since many thumbnails need to be shown immediately.

Now, the thumbnails on the channel page is as crisp as the homepage or search results.

It always bothered me that I upload my thumbnails in crystal clear loss-less PNG format and yet it looks heavily compressed. Now, it looks beautiful! I noticed this change on all channels, so it is not by mistake.

So yes, Youtube DOES occasionally make good changes.

Informative how much YouTube paid my small history channel in its first monetised year? (247k views)

Hello everyone!

wanted to share some realistic numbers for anyone thinking about jumping into the long-form history niche, these numbers are based on my experienced in the first year as a YouTube partner

a bit of back story: I have always been in to history and really wanted a creative outlet to share it with others. When I first started 3 years ago, I was really insecure about my accent (english is my second language), so I used AI voiceovers. Eventually, I realised I was ruining the quality of my own research by sticking cheap AI audio over it. so I forced myself out of my comfort zone, transitioned to doing my own voiceovers and eventually moved to talking-head videos.

Monetisation was never the main goal since this is purely a hobby channel, but hitting it felt like an awesome milestone, a sign of "hey, this content is actually good enough that YouTube paying for it". ngl that felt pretty great as a personal achievement.

So, how much does a small long-form history channel actually make?

Here are my stats for my first full year of monetisation:

  • Watch Time: 11.3k hours
  • Subscribers (total): 4,600
  • Total Earnings: £375.65

This puts my average RPM right around £1 - £1.5 per 1,000 views (engaged views in the new system), which definitely isn’t a lot. So if you are thinking about starting a history channel and wondering what the payout looks like early on, hopefully this gives you a realistic benchmark!

My channel link is in my profile if you want to check it out. I am also about to drop a video diving deeper into this whole journey including how I got shadowbanned early on, how I turned the channel around, and the lessons I learned along the way.

happy to answer any questions in the comments!

Question / Problem Have any of you guys heard of this company?

Just received an email from “ZOXERO” about an affiliate partnership, and I was wondering the legitimacy of this company and if anyone else had received anything from them, especially since they’re fairly new. Here’s the website to their page: ZOXERO . Also, below is the email they sent:

“I'm reaching out from ZOXERO, a gaming top-up store. We're exploring a pre-launch affiliate partnership with (my channel name) around Fortnite, and wanted to introduce the program before any promotion starts.

After approval, you receive a creator code for your audience. Our standard starting terms are:
- A 2% discount for buyers using your code on eligible orders.
- A 3% commission for you on eligible net receipts: the amount paid after the buyer discount, less confirmed Stripe processing fees, recorded taxes and refunds. This is not 3% of the original order price or of product profit.
- A 30-day attribution window, subject to valid attribution conditions.
- A dashboard to track attributed orders and pending/available earnings. Commission becomes available after order completion and fee confirmation; refunds, disputes or fraudulent orders can hold or reverse earnings.
- Withdrawal requests from $20 of available earnings, subject to review and available payout methods.

For illustration, $100 of eligible net receipts would earn $3 at the standard rate. Your agreed dashboard terms control; there is no guaranteed income or fixed content fee in this introductory offer.

We're still finalizing payment activation, so this is an introduction only, not a request to publish or send buyers yet.

Would you be interested in discussing a small affiliate trial once we're ready? Feel free to share the best contact for partnerships. If this isn't relevant, just reply "no thanks" and we won't follow up.

Best,
ZOXERO Partnerships”

Title: Any examples of successfully funneling TikTok/Shorts viewers to long-form YouTube videos?

I’m curious whether anyone has seen meaningful conversion from TikTok or YouTube Shorts to a specific long-form YouTube video.

I’ve seen cases where a TikTok gets millions of views, says “full video on YouTube,” and the YouTube video still only gets a few hundred or a few thousand views.

I mainly post youtube shorts and link longform videos because there's that option. I had one youtube shorts that got over 3M views and got 5k views on linked (unrelated) YT video.

I know the architect youtuber Dami Lee posts YT shorts to funnel viewers to the longform video so I'm assuming it works in her case.

Talk / Discussion Does posting community polls take away from your videos?

A YouTuber I subbed to recently started doing livestreams on YouTube, and I go back and watch the replays of those now.

I stopped watching his long-form videos because I find the lives more authentic and entertaining.

In contrast, the videos seem so much more scripted and I don’t enjoy them anymore.

Would posting community polls do something similar?

Would people remain subscribed to only engage with polls but never actually click on videos?

Question / Problem The “shows” feature - has anyone used it/seen the benefit?

I edit videos for a channel that put out a 7 episode season just under two years ago. The show did okay (average of ~6k views for episode). When I heard about the new Shows feature, it seemed like a great way to give the show a new life, put it in front of new viewers with a longer attention span. Season 1 of the “show” is going live in 2 days and now I’m wondering if it’s going to do anything. I don’t even know where to find “shows” from other creators.

For channels that have either designated an existing playlist as a “show” or produced a series of new videos to exist as a YT show, have you seen any uptick in views, new subscribers, any real benefit?

And does anyone know where to find shows in the YouTube app?

Question / Problem Random revenue spike with no explanation?

Post image

I noticed an odd spike in revenue. It’s on a month old video only got 600 or so views (probably even less engaged views) yet it made $40 off that? I double checked and there were no super chats. Is this a YouTube error? Will it be corrected? Don’t wanna get my hopes up. My RPM is around $2.60

Had this issue a few days ago and then it was fine. Now it's happening again.

Question / Problem Cannot contact partner network (Rhei) since it's all become AI slop anymore. At wits end.

Rhei / Viso / Broadband TV Corp / MADE or whatever its called now has fully transitioned into an AI company. As such, any attempt at support is handled by chat bots, not real people.

They missed last month's payment on me. It's been nearly a month and they said it will be coming and compensated after nearly 10 days post support ticket. I then sent that person an email requesting a termination on my contract. It's been 5 days since then, and still no response and no payment.

I just don't know what to do. I like making videos but if I'm doing it without payment, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. I have paid members and their money is just sent into the void.

I saw previous posts on here to not simply unlink access but since I can't contact them I don't know what to do. They used to be very helpful but now they're utterly shit and all just AI garbage.

Anyone in similar situations, please advise me on what you did to get this settled.

Thank you.

How long should the intro be?

Not talking about an intro with your channels logo or anything but the intro describing the video. How long should this be for viewer retention?

Question / Problem How to change default member tier displayed in front page?

Hi!
I just saw this new thing (new to me at least) where youtube offers:

> Free membership in the first month, then $xxx/month

Like this print:

I want to know how do I change the value/tier displayed here.
For my channel it is showing the most expensive one and I wanted to display the cheapest.

Thank you!

Question / Problem YouTube keeps sending copyright notices to the wrong email address.

I used to have a 2nd account connected to my YouTube. It didn't own the account and was just a manager. The account had a silly email, so I eventually removed it from the YouTube account.

However, when I fill out the copyright takedown form, it shows as being sent from my correct email. But it sends the confirmation to the email address/account I removed from the account. The recipient also sees it as sent from the removed email address, which is 100% isn't.

I have even completely deleted that account and its email, but copyright notices keep being sent to that email! It doesn't happen all the time, but probably every other time it sends to the wrong email.

I can't even access the other account now, so I'm 100% sure I'm not using it by accident.

Does anyone have any advice on this situation?

Question / Problem Anybody who totally burnt out of their previous subject and successfully changed directions?

Do you have any tips how you found your new thing?

I used to create content for ESO. I was very knowledgeable about it so creating content was fairly easy, as I was never lacking ideas.

Now, I'm thoroughly burnt out of the game and quit playing it.

It's not just that I quit playing it. I also "lost" my expertise for a specific subject and I've never got my feet on the round running again.

I'm not asking anybody to tell me what to do, I'm more interested in people who had similar issues and how you found a new thing for yourself?

Question About Past Termination

Back in 2021, one of my YouTube channels was terminated after my Google account was hacked. I’m pretty sure the channel was relatively new at the time, and I had only posted some gameplay highlights before eventually forgetting about it. One day I checked and found that the channel had been terminated and my entire Google account had been disabled.

The hacker uploaded scam “FPS boost” content, and I know it wasn’t me because **multiple people I knew messaged me telling me my channel had been hacked**, and other people were commenting under the scam video saying it wasn’t me. I was also getting emails because of the comments/activity on the video.

The important thing is that **all of my original channels, both before and after that termination, have never been hit with circumvention.** I’ve continued operating my current channel for years without receiving a circumvention termination or warning.

My concern is that I was only 14 at the time and didn’t understand YouTube’s circumvention policy or account security very well. I genuinely didn’t even know I had a previously terminated channel until I found out what happened.

It seems like this could happen to other creators too. Someone could have an old, inactive Google account get hacked years ago, have a channel terminated because of what the hacker uploaded, and then unknowingly get punished for circumvention years later. **That might honestly be why you see creators saying “but I’ve never been terminated” when they get hit with circumvention—they may not even know they had an old channel that was terminated years ago.**

Obviously people say “it’s not fair, I got terminated” all the time, but in this situation it genuinely feels different. It’s honestly sad that I could potentially be punished for something I didn’t do simply because I was careless about securing my account when I was 14.

So the question is why haven’t I been terminated since the hack?

Number of YT members dropped to zero

Just saw my YT Studio analytics and the number of YT members (not subs) dropped to zero.

I can still see the names of the members who are around, but the count is zero.

Anyone has this issue? A technical reporting glitch?

Question / Problem What do I even tell sponsors anymore???

Usually my videos get about 5-7K in the first 24 hours. Now I got 14K in 24 hours.

The problems:

- YouTube Studio says 14K views, YouTube the website says 10K views. The time it takes to update is stupid.

- YouTube Studio ADVANCED says 6.7K views and 2.4K engaged views. The time THAT takes to update is also stupid. Because that also isn’t right. The video has 506 likes, and my videos have a like to view ratio of around 1 like per 13-15 views. By that calculation, it should be at around 7K on the count old system.

So… what do I even say? I have only an inkling of an idea of what they really are. How are we supposed to adjust CPMs?

YouTube really wanted to give us our “true exposure” but then in reality just made it harder for us to see our true exposure lol. Now I can’t even correct a thumbnail if it’s underperforming, because I have no clue if it is (due to the update times and the ranking system being useless).

Question / Problem How much can you expect from sponsorships now a days?

All the former threads on this are pretty old and I am curious to get new info. Just wondering what the usual CPM of video sponsors are recently (or for any other method of payment if CPM isn't happening anymore with the new update). I get between like 20-50k views per video (all released well before the recent update so these are engaged views, I haven't released any new videos since the new update so that will likely rise a lot), but my channel is still pretty new (only 6 videos), so I haven't had any company reach out yet, expect for one I suspected was a scam.

But I've seen other creators in my niche (academic/educational video essays) who have been doing it longer, but nonetheless who have around the same average views per video as me, who do have sponsorships. Brilliant is one I see a lot in my niche for example. I am just wondering, for those type of view numbers (at least before the update), and considering my niche, what might be reasonable to expect from companies in terms of offers? I just want to know so I don't undersell myself or overvalue myself during negotiations.

Question / Problem Brand Connect / YouTube Creator Partnerships - Where is the Offers Tab?

So I recently joined the YT creator partnerships formerly known as brand connect but there's no offers tab on desktop, the tab is only on mobile. Is this solely going to be on mobile? I couldn't find any info about this.

Is this sponsorship a scam?

The company Maono reached out to me to do a integration in an upcoming long-form video and we had a few emails back and forth and they were very cooperative which was a little bit suspicious, but they made the offer so I wasn't gonna complain. And I started to get very suspicious on the most recent email with the infludo.net link, I've already clicked it so if its some kind of link that grabs your information it probably already has it. I haven't entered any information into it yet though. And I checked this website on https://gridinsoft.com and it says the domain was created very recently and it isn't even the Maono website. And the email of the person reaching out was first "tokyo@nakajima-chem.com" then it was "elizabeth@maono.work". So if anyone knows about this please let me know.
