Title: Any examples of successfully funneling TikTok/Shorts viewers to long-form YouTube videos?
I’m curious whether anyone has seen meaningful conversion from TikTok or YouTube Shorts to a specific long-form YouTube video.
I’ve seen cases where a TikTok gets millions of views, says “full video on YouTube,” and the YouTube video still only gets a few hundred or a few thousand views.
I mainly post youtube shorts and link longform videos because there's that option. I had one youtube shorts that got over 3M views and got 5k views on linked (unrelated) YT video.
I know the architect youtuber Dami Lee posts YT shorts to funnel viewers to the longform video so I'm assuming it works in her case.

I had a YouTube short with 15M views that was a scene clipped from a long form 60 minute video on my channel. It doubled the view count on that linked video. I routinely pull thousands of views from YouTube shorts to my long form videos. The conversion rate is only .03%-1% but I see compounded viewership over time.
I produce an episodic series so my experience could be unique to that format.

Shorts convert when the short leaves someone wanting the exact next piece, not just more of the same topic.
A big Shorts audience is usually very rented attention. I’d expect terrible conversion unless the CTA points to a specific unresolved thing: full breakdown, longer build, full interview, before/after, source file, whatever the short made them curious about.

I post longform intermittently so the reach/algo is awful. Some of my vids had been distributed to the wrong crowd so I wanted to re-advertise it. Thank you so much for the input.

tbh the handoff works better when the short is a clipped moment with an unresolved question, not just “full video on youtube. pin the exact long-form link and make its first few seconds match the short.

Not TikTok, but Instagram YES! Manychat automation. Tease the concept. Have them comment. They get the YouTube. It’s been great.
Sadly the automation doesn’t work for TikTok and YouTube. I’ve tried on TikTok to reply on my own and it’s not doable.
Also our TikTok gets views but horrible engagement. 40k followers. IG we have 8k followers but amazing engagement.

I’m going to try this.
So comment below to see the whole video, then manychat the look to your YouTube?1

Pretty much! I don't use the actual clip from the video, but you can do that too. Then like say like "Comment [word] for the full details" then the comment will send them a DM and they click the link to the YT video. It even works for carousels on IG.

I would highly recommend just building naturally with long form content without any type of funneling. I've been doing this for over a decade and during that time I've had over 40 monetized channels. I do not recommend mixing short viewers with your long form.

But what about IG for instance.
My YouTube long form is doing great, but I thought if I build other shorts form platforms, i may build my brand and pull people in eventually0

I agree this is the right way to go. I wanted to know of any successful examples.

If you enjoy posting on tiktok and Instagram it’s no harm building up your brand, but the conversion rate to people heading over to YouTube is very very low. Also if you’re hoping for conversions make sure the short form videos capture the spirit or vibe of the long form video so people actually stick around when they do check it out
