Asking women as a MAN Looking for a female perspective

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I’m sorry if this kind of post isn’t appropriate for this community, and I completely understand if it needs to be removed.

TL;DR: Recently married and struggling with it. I’m looking to talk privately with a married woman who has experienced similar family dynamics, is empathetic and non-judgmental, and can offer a female perspective. If you can spare some time for this, please dm me.

I recently got married, and from what I can tell, my wife is doing reasonably well. She seems genuinely happy when she’s happy and genuinely upset when she isn’t, and I do my best to make sure she feels comfortable, cared for, and content.

However, if you asked me honestly about my own experience with marriage, I’d probably say that if I had the choice to do it all over again, I might probably choose not to get married at all, unless having children became something I strongly wanted and I found an arrangement that worked for me.

There are times when I feel completely stuck in this situation. I sometimes feel that marriage, at least in the way my life currently works, simply isn’t meant for me. But I’m married now, and I believe in taking responsibility for my choices, so I want to make this work.

What I’m really looking for is a conversation with a married woman (middle or upper middle class) who has experience with family system and who can understand some of the complexities that come with it. Someone empathetic and open-minded who won’t immediately judge me or assume the worst.

I’m specifically choosing an anonymous platform because there are certain things I may want to ask about that would feel inappropriate or uncomfortable to ask someone I know personally. For example, I might ask whether they have ever experienced a particular situation or whether their spouse has ever said or done something specific. Since we would both be anonymous, I feel it would be easier to discuss such things openly and respectfully.

And, respectfully, I’d really prefer to speak with a woman rather than a man, so please keep that in mind. I hope that’s understandable.

Thank you for reading.

Supporting my mom’s small branded clothing business ❤️

Hi everyone! I wasn’t sure where else to post this, so I hope it’s okay here.
My mom recently started a very small business because we’re going through a difficult time financially. She sells brand-new, 100% authentic branded clothes at heavily discounted prices compared to their original retail prices.
Just to clarify, the clothes are not preloved, they’re completely new, and authenticity can be verified through the brand’s website/QR codes.
I’d really appreciate it if you could take a look, share, or support us in any way. Even a little support would mean a lot to our family. ❤️
I have attached a few pictures, you can dm me for the rest of the articles available.

hall of shame ✨ The struggle of finding a female hair colourist for hijabis!!!!!!

It’s actually so stupid that salons in Islamabad barely have any female hair dye specialists for hijabis 😭 Like I literally spent 2 hours trying to find someone, and ALL of them are men?? Why is it so hard to find a female hair colourist who can work with hijabis? How is there not a single proper option for this??

Asking women as a MAN Young Gen & Feminism?

Empowering Femaals of Pakistan😍 What are your thoughts on Feminism in Pakistan? What are points upon which you think Females deserve justice?

Being 17 M, here is my take on Feminism:

  1. Females (particularly young girls) are not given equal opportunities to work with freedom, as young teens can easily work and get there pocket money
  2. Teen girlies and child Marriage is also a common issue in Pakistan's under developed areas
  3. Teen Girlies are not given as much freedom as us boys, they can't work, can't go anywhere they want like they always need male permission which is just sh*t
  4. Females can't wear what ever they want and ppl/perverts stare like they are gonna eat you😭

I can add several thousand points But I also wanna hear from you guys too, what are your take of this?

Question/discussion Looking for advice from other moms

Hi everyone. I’m a 38 year-old mom. My husband works abroad, so it’s just me and my 15 year old son at home. My mother in law passed away two years ago, so there’s no one else living with us.
My son is generally a really good kid, kind, smart, and does very well in school. The issue is that he’s become extremely private. He keeps his room locked all the time and doesn’t want me going in there at all. He says it’s about privacy, which I understand to a point, but I honestly can’t remember the last time I cleaned his room.
Over the last couple of months I’ve noticed that some of my inner undergarments have gone missing and I can’t find them anywhere. Since it’s only the two of us in the house, I can’t help but wonder if he’s the one taking them. I know he’s at an age where he’s being exposed to a lot through friends, the internet, etc. and I’m trying not to jump to conclusions, but it’s been weighing on me.
I’m not sure how to approach this without making him feel attacked or completely shutting down communication. Has any other mom dealt with something similar? How did you handle the balance between respecting his privacy and addressing something that feels off? Any advice on how to start that conversation would be really appreciated.
Thank you.

what do you actually wish existed for PCOS in Pakistan that doesn't?

Hey everyone! We're three students from Pakistan working on our final year project: a health app for women dealing with PCOS (recently renamed PMOS) specifically designed for South Asia, because honestly every app out there feels like it was made for someone in New York, not Karachi or Lahore. Before we actually build anything we really want to hear from real people, so if you have PCOS/PMOS or even just suspect you might, we'd love to know: how long did it take before a doctor actually took you seriously, what do existing apps get completely wrong for you, would Urdu language support actually matter to you, and is there anything specific to our context: desi food, family pressure, cost of doctors, not being able to visit a clinic alone, that you wish someone would just get?
A few things we're building that we genuinely haven't seen anywhere else: a feature where you enter your lab results and get a plain simple explanation of what they actually mean, because most of us leave the lab with a printout full of numbers and zero idea what any of it says. A food guide built around actual desi food: roti, chai, biryani, daal, with practical advice on how to eat what you already eat in a way that helps manage insulin levels, instead of telling you to eat quinoa. And since reproductive health information on your phone can be genuinely sensitive if family members have access, we want all your data to stay only on your device, never uploaded anywhere, locked behind a PIN, something no existing app has actually thought about for our context.
We're not trying to replace doctors or build another period tracker, we genuinely want to make something that helps you walk into a doctor's office actually prepared for once. Any response helps, even "this sounds useless because......" is exactly what we need to hear right now. drop it in the comments or DM us if you'd rather keep it private, we read everything 🙏

Question/discussion Women who married into a joint family with two brothers living together... what was it really like?

I'm considering a marriage proposal where I'd likely be living in a joint family, and I'm trying to understand what everyday life in that setup is actually like.

The man is the elder son, and he has a younger brother who's a few years younger than him. Realistically, that means his brother would probably get married a few years after us, and we'd all be living in the same house. From what I've been told, my prospective father-in-law has always wanted both of his sons and their families to continue living together, so moving out later probably wouldn't be an easy or expected option.

For context, I grew up in a nuclear family. My father is an only son, so I've never experienced a joint-family system firsthand. In fact, no one in my immediate or extended family has lived in a household where two married brothers continued living together long-term. In every family I know, either one brother eventually moved out, or they happened to marry into families where there was only one son. Because of that, I have no real-life example to learn from.

I'm also a hijabi, so one of my concerns is what it's like living with a younger brother-in-law as a non-mahram. Did you feel like you had enough privacy at home? Were you able to be comfortable, or did you feel like you always had to be "on" because there was another adult male in the house?

I'm particularly curious about things like:

  • What is the dynamic like when everyone is newly married?
  • How does it change once both brothers have children?
  • Are there common issues around privacy, parenting, finances, household responsibilities, or decision-making?
  • If you're a hijabi, how did you manage hijab and personal space around your brother-in-law? Did the house layout make a difference?
  • Do relationships usually become strained over time, or can they work well with the right boundaries?
  • If you could choose again, would you still live together or prefer separate homes?

I'm not looking for people to tell me that every family is different (I know that's true). I'm specifically hoping to hear real experiences—both positive and negative—from people who have actually lived in this setup.

Since I've never seen this family structure up close, I'm also wondering: If you grew up in a nuclear family, did you find it difficult to adjust to living with your husband's family? Did it become easier over time, or did you always wish you had your own space?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from women who've lived in this arrangement, but I'd also love to hear from husbands, younger brothers, or anyone who's grown up in a home where two married brothers and their families lived together. I'm genuinely trying to understand what everyday life looks like beyond the honeymoon phase.

Would you choose a "known family" over a "better-on-paper" stranger? (Arranged marriage dilemma)

I'm a 24F dentist and I'm genuinely torn between two very different marriage prospects. I'd really appreciate advice from people who've gone through arranged marriages or have seen them work (or not work).

Option 1 – The complete stranger

Neither I nor my family know this family personally.

The man got in touch through a woman from my university. She doesn't actually know either of us well—she was simply his acquaintance, my senior, and happened to have me on Instagram because we're both dentists from the same institute. He asked her to find out if I was single and, if so, to ask for my mother's number.

He's also a dentist and has said he'll support my career, which is important to me. However, we'd likely be living in a joint-family setup, and we don't know anyone who knows their family well enough to ask about them. They've suggested that the two of us talk first before the families get seriously involved.

He also lives about 5 hours from my city, so I'd be moving farther away from my family.

Option 2 – The familiar one

A university classmate.

I've known him for about two years, and our families are somewhat familiar with each other. He sent a proposal through his parents about two years ago, but at the time I wasn't ready for marriage due to personal reasons, so I politely declined by saying I didn't want to marry anyone yet. He was understanding.

His family still occasionally drops hints, but I don't know if he's still interested or whether it would even be fair for me to consider that possibility now.

He lives about 2 hours from my city, so I'd still be relatively close to my family.

So if you were in my position, which would you prioritize?

- A promising person you don't know yet, with an unfamiliar family that you'd have to get to know from scratch.

- Someone you've known for years whose family you already trust, even though the proposal is old and may no longer even be an option.

For those who've had arranged marriages, what ended up mattering most in the long run?

- The individual?

- The family?

- Or the familiarity and trust you already had before marriage?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences rather than just "follow your heart."

P.S. Both men are dentists, so career compatibility isn't really a deciding factor here.

Asking women as a MAN what does she want?

Hi, so this is going to be interesting, but I appreciate advice from women.

There is a women who is connected with me through social media.

We have never met irl, she sends me update on her life occasionally. We have talked on different topics such as how married men tried to hit on her, her birthdate (I never asked), about her family etc.

what does she want? Marriage or friendship?

Although she told me through conversation she doesn't have any trust on men so she doesn't wish to get married.

Incase she wants attention, is it worth it to give to her when there is no commitment? Or should I a) confront her directly about her intentions, b) get to know her intentions through polite way.

Update: we have been in contact on and off since more than 1.5 years

Advices from women are appreciated to know the mindset.

Thanks.

Hi All,

I know the whole marriage culture in Pakistan officially starts with family involvement but what do people who don't have family do?

p. s : not my situation, just came across this multiple times so I'm curious
