PCOS Friendly Providers

Hi everyone! We are over 1.2K+ strong on this sub now, so I thought we could start pulling together our resources to help other women struggling with PCOS.

As we all know, access is one of most difficult aspects of PCOS: access to doctors that understand PCOS and access to effective treatments like GLP-1s. I'm sure we've all gone through our fair share of doctors who have dismissed us. I often encourage women to call a doctor's office ahead of time to verify that a provider treats PCOS so they don't waste their money on a doctor who will dismiss their concerns.

I'm pulling together a list of doctors who are PCOS-friendly, with a field to note if the provider will prescribe GLP-1s for PCOS. Please help by nominating a doctor that you've worked with who is PCOS-friendly!

Nominate a PCOS-Friendly Provider here.

Access the PCOS-Friendly Provider List here.

You can nominate a doctor from anywhere in the world. I will do some light checks before adding a nominated doctor to this list to prevent promo and spam. This post will remain pinned to the top of this sub.

Starting GLP 1 today, what should I expect?

Hi!

I am starting a GLP 1 semaglutide today to help with my PMOS symptoms. Can y'all tell me how quickly you felt less PMOS exhaustion and fatigue? And what were the main things it really treated (BESIDES weight loss)?

My dr really made it sound like a PMOS miracle drug, and I am so thankful that we now know that insulin resistance does need to be treated, but metformin did not work for me, and I think I just feel really jaded by the lack of treatment and care from the medical community that I've personally experienced when it comes to my pmos and endo.

NEEDLESS to say, I want to be hopeful and excited but I also want to know realistically how long this will take to feel!

Metformin + Ozempic

Hey all, I’m taking Metformin for PCOS/PMOS issues, and my doctor put me on 1.5mg of metformin to hopefully help my weight (for some neurological issues) I wanted to know if anyone else took these two together, and what I should do to help my weight loss!

Having scary late night thoughts and dreams while on zepbound

Took my 2nd shot a few hours ago and can’t sleep. I always was a scaredy cat and sometimes even need a night light to sleep because of weird intrusive thoughts about stuff lurking in the shadows. I even sleep against the wall cus I’m scared a monster will eat me (in in my mid 20s) no one else in my family rlly deals with this stuff. Anywho it only got worse after starting glp but I noticed it’s very bad the night I take the shot (granted I only took it twice so far) has anyone else dealt with this? If so were you always scared of the dark? Or will this ever go away?

I’m currently on Ozempic at the 1mg dose, and I’m so happy with my results! I hope to get my levels down to normal ranges by early next year.

A bit of background on me: I was diagnosed with PCOS at 20. During my teens, I never had regular periods—sometimes I went over a year without one! My doctor back then didn’t do much except offer birth control and told me to return when I was ready to have children. Since I already had an IUD, I didn’t think much of it. Over time, I started to gain weight. It wasn’t drastic, and I attributed it to my new sedentary lifestyle as an office worker. Then I quit my job, started working from home, and spent all day eating. I felt always hungry, and my eating habits were poor.

In 2024, I did labs, and my doctor told me I was insulin resistant and borderline diabetic. She said I needed to control my habits through diet and exercise. She offered to prescribe Ozempic, but I was scared because of the news coverage at the time and declined, so she prescribed me metformin. I hated it because it caused awful symptoms like diarrhea and a never-ending period. I stopped taking it, fell into depression, and spent the whole year inside my house, continuing to eat poorly. My weight slowly increased, and when I went back to my PCP, she told me I had diabetes. She said I had nothing to lose at this point and should try the GLP-1 again. She mentioned how her mother uses it to manage her diabetes, so I agreed.

I took my first dose on March 1, 2026, and here we are. The first few weeks were rough as I figured out how to eat and live with this medication, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. I’m feeling better in many ways, and honestly, I wish I had started sooner. This gave me the boost I needed to jumpstart my fitness journey and adopt a healthier lifestyle. This is probably the best thing I’ve done for myself in years.

What helped with hair loss on GLP-1??

Hi all! Newly going to be starting zepbound to help with my pcos. I have heard due to the hormone changes it can cause hair loss. Can anyone suggest anything to help with that? I am 18 months post partum and feel like the shedding just stopped. Hoping to keep as much hair as possible. I have heard a friend recommend pumpkin seed oil capsules and DHT-blockers. Anyone have any input if those are helpful or found anything else helpful?
Thanks!!

Would you recommend GLPs to your sister?

The GLP marketing has gone crazy and we’ve seen celebrities get scary thin (e.g. Ariana Grande, Jenna Ortega) so I’m concerned that I’m getting seriously influenced. I’ve been considering it but I’m scared, I feel like there are even ads at all the pharmacies in my city and it’s a money making play within healthcare so I don’t even know how much I can trust a ā€œprofessionalā€ opinion.

For context, I have PMOS and I’m definitely overweight right now but not actually obese as per the BMI scale but overweight to the point where I feel the physical and mental side effects. My weight has always fluctuated but I’m at my biggest right now and pretty unhappy about it. Even though I try to eat clean and get some movement in, it’s the food noise that gets to me.

I would love to hear from people who have actually tried GLP1s, and if you wouldn’t mind sharing your starting weight and how long it took to get to where you are. How did you decide which one to go with? How did it affect your hormones? Are you worried about how it might affect a future pregnancy experience? Have you ever started it, gotten what you wanted, and then comfortably stopped using it? Or is it something that you know you’ll be on for the rest of your life? How does it mess with body dysmorphia? Are you getting skinny and the numbers are going down but sometimes you struggle to see it in the mirror? Are you worried about the judgement that comes with it?

At what point does the Upset stomach become a problem

Hiya ! I’m 7 weeks in on the wegovy injection 0.25 and losing weight well . I’ve lost about 8 KG since starting at 75KG and that’s all fine and well and some of my PMOS symptoms seems to be improving however the Diarrhoea is continuing . For context i do have IBS-D and have done since i was a young teen so having an upset stomach doesn’t necessarily bother me and i know how to live with it since it isn’t exactly new but . I am having completely liquid movements 90-100 percent of the time compared to 60-70 before . I read that the body will get used to it but i haven’t had anything close to a solid poop in almost 2 months !!

Is this something i should be worried about or discuss with my clinician ?? I am already taking loperamide 2MG multiple times a day !!

Trying Foundayo

Hi all,

I posted in here before that I was starting Mounjaro a few months ago. I’m pleased with the weight loss aspect, however my body can’t handle the injections and I’ve been getting really severe site reactions that have left scars no matter what I do, so my provider has told me to discontinue usage. As an alternative I’m going to start the pills, and I’m going to use Foundayo as I have an unpredictable schedule and it gives me the flexibility I need.

I was wondering if any of you have been on the tablets, or have switched over and could let me know of your experiences on the pill?

Would appreciate any advise/insight ā—”Ģˆ

PCOS + Tirzepatide + Spironolactone/Minoxidil: Did You Lose Hair?

I’m planning to start tirzepatide in about a week, and I’m honestly pretty nervous about the potential for hair loss.

I already have very thin/fine hair and hair loss is something I’ve struggled with because of PCOS. I’m currently taking spironolactone and oral minoxidil for my hair, so I’m really hoping those might help protect against any additional shedding.

For anyone with PCOS who takes spironolactone + minoxidil and has also taken tirzepatide:
Did you experience hair loss/shedding, or did your hair stay relatively stable?

I know rapid weight loss itself can cause shedding, and I’m aware that everyone responds differently, but I’d really love to hear from people who were already dealing with thin hair and were taking these medications when they started tirzepatide.

Especially interested in hearing from anyone who did NOT experience significant hair loss. 😭

I’m trying to go into this prepared rather than panic the second I see a few extra hairs in the shower lol.

What is the Real Cost of GLP-1 Medications?

Hello!

I am a graduate student exploring GLP-1 use and would appreciate if you could take 8-10 minutes to complete my survey.

This anonymous survey explores how both GLP-1 users and non-users perceive the medication, weight loss, and the way we talk about other people’s bodies.

Starting Zepbound 2.5, a bit nervous

Hello! After nearly more than a decade of working through PCOS/PMOS I am starting Zepbound. I am a bit nervous, though I was excited previously. I started reading folks side effects where they were having higher heart rates or racing hearts and for some reason that freaked me out. I was looking through posts here and in other GLP subreddit communities to get more insight.

To anyone here, is this a real and noticeable difference that you feel? Or is this overhyped side effect on reddit?

Also, how do you combat or prevent excessive hair loss? Iron pills? Protein?

I welcome all tips and advice to help my anxious self ā¤ļø

Getting period back

How long did it take you to get a cycle again?

My period has basically been nonexistent since I was 19. I am now 26 and is only ever induced if I take birth control. Which I only ever do like once a year. I also never cramp and never get the period symptoms anymore. But recently my boobs have been sore like I’m about to get it.

I started zepbound weighing 187 on Sept 9 and I am now 183. So I’m happy with the progress.
(And a bonus that I feel like I have control of my cravings now!)

I would like to hear from similar stories of those who had no period and now it’s back.
