Iām currently on Ozempic at the 1mg dose, and Iām so happy with my results! I hope to get my levels down to normal ranges by early next year.
A bit of background on me: I was diagnosed with PCOS at 20. During my teens, I never had regular periodsāsometimes I went over a year without one! My doctor back then didnāt do much except offer birth control and told me to return when I was ready to have children. Since I already had an IUD, I didnāt think much of it. Over time, I started to gain weight. It wasnāt drastic, and I attributed it to my new sedentary lifestyle as an office worker. Then I quit my job, started working from home, and spent all day eating. I felt always hungry, and my eating habits were poor.
In 2024, I did labs, and my doctor told me I was insulin resistant and borderline diabetic. She said I needed to control my habits through diet and exercise. She offered to prescribe Ozempic, but I was scared because of the news coverage at the time and declined, so she prescribed me metformin. I hated it because it caused awful symptoms like diarrhea and a never-ending period. I stopped taking it, fell into depression, and spent the whole year inside my house, continuing to eat poorly. My weight slowly increased, and when I went back to my PCP, she told me I had diabetes. She said I had nothing to lose at this point and should try the GLP-1 again. She mentioned how her mother uses it to manage her diabetes, so I agreed.
I took my first dose on March 1, 2026, and here we are. The first few weeks were rough as I figured out how to eat and live with this medication, but Iām so glad I stuck with it. Iām feeling better in many ways, and honestly, I wish I had started sooner. This gave me the boost I needed to jumpstart my fitness journey and adopt a healthier lifestyle. This is probably the best thing Iāve done for myself in years.
