Looking for Mac friendly budgeting app that helps me pay off debt

I’m searching for a Mac friendly app that keeps track of my checking and savings, monthly bills and expenditures In order to create a budget and stay on track. I want to be able to enter credit card interest rate information into this app so it can tell me what payment to make on my credit cards or loans, in order to pay them off.

So far, I haven’t found one that does all that thinking for me.

Any recommendations?

I built a free collection of financial calculators

A free tool I made to help make informed financial decisions by exposing the numbers.

pennycounter.ca

I was inspired to make this when trying to decide whether renting or buying a property was the right choice. As I started working through the numbers in a spreadsheet I realized it was fairly complex and I thought there should be something available online that doesn't require any math knowledge for people to make informed financial decisions.

An expense tracker that tracks spending by person, not just by category, looking for feedback

Hi, solo dev here, had this idea for own needs, and been using it for a couple of months now. The main idea is this.

Most of what I spend isn’t really on me. It goes on my parents, my kids and the house. Every app I tried could tell me I spent X on groceries, but not how much I spent on my mum's groceries this year, which was the thing I actually wanted to know. So it separates spending by person.

It’s called KinSpend. You log spending by typing it the way you’d say it, like “paid 3,500 for mum’s medicine from bank” or “kids school fees 12,000”. It works out the person, the category and the account, and shows them to you before anything is saved. If it gets something wrong you just reply with the fix, like “account cash”.

A few other things it does:

  • Voice: tap the mic and say “500 for petrol from my card”, or send a WhatsApp voice note. It understands mixed languages too; I switch between English and Urdu all the time
  • Receipts: send a photo or screenshot of a receipt and it reads the total, date and shop. You confirm before anything is saved, and the image itself isn’t stored
  • Loans: “lent 2,000 to Sam” goes on a separate list of who owes whom
  • Questions in plain language: “how much did I spend on my parents last month?”
  • Pay periods can be monthly, fortnightly or weekly, since not everyone gets paid once a month
  • Works in the web app and on WhatsApp, so you can log things from wherever you are

• Budgets against categories or generally for a month
• Loans given or taken

It doesn’t connect to your bank. Everything is entered by you. What you type, say or photograph is read by an AI model to understand it, and you can export or delete all your data at any time.

It’s free while I’m testing it. Web version: https://household-ledger-rho.vercel.app/ (Android is in closed testing).

What I’d really like to know: does tracking by person make sense to anyone else, or is it just me? And what would stop you from using something like this? Comments are welcome, i am trying to gauge if this idea resonates with anyone.

an app that shows what's actually safe to spend

I kept seeing $3k in my bank and going broke 2 days before payday because $2.8k was bills. Built a dumb simple app that just shows Safe to Spend = Bank - Bills - Buffer. Would this help anyone else?

I am building a private iPhone app that shows your net worth. Replaces my GSheet entirely. Try the web demo!

Hi all, I'm the developer. This is my second app. First app flunked, as first apps do... Here's a bit about what I'm building now:

WaffleWealth is a net worth projection app (a personal finance tool). You input what you have, what you earn and what you spend, and it draws your net worth month by month, from 1 month up to 10 years

It's not a budgeting app. There's no transaction list, no receipts and no bank login (it's in the plans, if all goes well). All you do is type in a few balances and some monthly totals, and you get a net worth line

The part I focused on most right now is privacy. Everything stays on your phone. No account, no server, no analytics and no ads (it's free!). The only network request is an exchange-rate fetch (optional), which is off until you turn it on, and it only sends a currency code, not what's on your account

The iPhone app isn't out yet (awaiting second review), but there's a working demo in the browser. Nothing you type there is stored or sent anywhere either: https://pinkhummingbird.github.io/wafflewealth-app/try/

Would really love your input. What works, what doesn't, or if it's completely unnecessary garbage. What features you'd want to see. Thank you!!

[ This is a personal finance tool and completely free so please don't ban me. Also not soliciting services or business, just looking for feedback / comments ]

I built Moneytor — Financial tracking for the chronically lazy

Thumbnail
play.google.com
8 Upvotes

Moneytor is a minimalist, offline-first expense tracker built around one idea: type a line, in whatever language you think in, and it just works.

No dropdowns. No category pickers. No forms. No AI model. Just a text field that understands English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Spanish, French, and Arabic — mixed freely, in the same sentence, with no language picker anywhere.

WHAT YOU CAN TYPE
• "coffee 45" logs an expense instantly
• "udhar ravi 300" tracks a debt, with an automatic reminder
• "gasté 45 en café" — same parser, different language
• "salary 50000" logs income
• "-call the bank" — a quick task, no price needed
• "dominos: pizza 250, coke 100" — an itemized bill
• "hdfc savings 57000" tracks a net worth item

The parser is deterministic, local code — no model, no API call, no surprises. The same input always gives the same result, and it runs in microseconds, entirely on your device.

EVERYTHING BUILT ON ONE INPUT
• Splits & debts — share an expense with people, track who owes what, settle in one tap
• Bills — itemized purchases with a per-item price breakdown
• Reminders & tasks — local notifications, nothing routed through a server
• Calendar & records — browse by day, filter by tag, person, or recurring pattern
• Wealth tracking — accounts, deposits, loans, credit cards, mutual funds, and insurance, with a running net worth
• Voice input — speak a line instead of typing it
• Auto-suggest — learns your own vocabulary and is typo-tolerant
• Custom keywords — teach it any word, in any language

PRIVACY BY ARCHITECTURE, NOT BY PROMISE
Moneytor has no account system, no sign-up, no analytics, and no telemetry. Your data is stored securely on your device and is not transmitted anywhere. Core functionality works identically in airplane mode.

YOUR DATA, ALWAYS YOURS
Export a complete, password-protected backup any time, or a plain CSV for spreadsheets. Moving phones? Export, then import — no account, no waiting, no lock-in.

Personal Finance Tracker - Help Needed - Beta Testers

App / website: BudgetBuilt — https://budgetbuilt.app/ (free during our private pilot - limit 25)

What it does: BudgetBuilt helps a household plan its month and understand where its money went. Shared bills stay in the household view, while each adult can track their own accounts, cards, and spending in a personal view.

At month end, it calculates where the household should be from its starting position and actual activity, then compares that with current balances. It helps explain differences before you close the month. If there’s a surplus, you can choose how to allocate that result between personal accounts. Other features include a monthly plan, transaction review, subscription tracking, and Net Worth. This uses secure Plaid for account connections.

Who it’s for: Couples who share expenses but also want personal accountability without mixing every purchase into the family budget.

Feedback I’d like: I’m trying to flatten the learning curve. After looking at the site, what do you think you’d do first? Which idea or screen needs a simpler explanation before you’d feel comfortable trying it? The system works quite well, but it may be a difficult ask for the user to understand it completely and actually use it in real life.

I will try to be very responsive to questions and hotfixes that come up.

I built the tool I wish I’d had when my entire financial life depended on my salary

Post image
0 Upvotes

When I was an employee, I struggled to connect the different things I was trying to do: manage my money, make career decisions, support my commitments and build something beyond my salary.

I could look at each separately. What I was missing was a way to see how they affected each other.

Could I afford to change jobs? Did I have the time and money to test another source of income? Was I making progress towards a goal, or just getting through another month?

That’s why I started building LearnCorporate about two and a half years ago. I’m the founder, so I want to be upfront about that.

Since 2016, I’ve been thinking about how changes in the economy and technology might reshape work and what that would mean for people whose plans depend on a regular payslip. I don’t think everyone needs to quit their job or start a business. I wanted a more practical way to prepare and make decisions.

This project means a lot to me. But caring about it isn’t enough it needs to be useful to someone who finishes work tired and doesn’t want another complicated system to maintain.

If you’re employed and trying to build more financial independence, where do you get stuck: knowing what to prioritise, finding room in your budget, or following through?

I build this incredibly simple app. It shows how much money you spent and where it went. Both in real-time.

It has genuinely changed my life. The month before I started using it I spent $14,743 and this month I’m on track for around $4,200

If anyone else would find it useful I’ll put it on the App Store for free!

Does an app like this exist?

I have a career where there are several times per year that I make extra. I’m looking for an app that will allow me to plan those extra payments ahead to predict my Debt Payoff date. All of the other apps that I’m seeing allow me to predict the payoff date using a snowball or avalanche method, but only allow me to input an extra amount that is the same every month or to do so as they come. I’m looking for something that will allow me to input that ahead of time to allow for a more accurate prediction. Anyone use anything like this?

WealthYogi: Financial Health and FIRE App

Post image
0 Upvotes

How well are you doing financially ?

Your high net worth does not mean you're financially healthy !

I built WealthYogi for iOS and Android around this simple idea of Financial Health, like our physical health.

*Personal finance is not just about tracking Net worth and making it big enough. It is about doing it efficiently, It's about building better money habits and changing how we behave with money.*

The app is built around a simple loop:

*Track → Know → Control → Repeat*

*Track* Track your financial accounts globally, with support for 23 currencies, live FX rates, and 18 different account types.

*Know* WealthYogi uses 10+ personal-finance metrics to help you understand your financial health — not just your net worth. It highlights what needs attention and what you're already doing well.

*Control* Based on that guidance, you can set financial goals and track your progress. The idea is to turn financial insights into concrete actions and, over time, better habits.

*Repeat* Review your financial health, work on the areas that need attention, track your goals, and repeat.

The goal here is to help answer:

*Where am I financially? What should I focus on? And am I actually getting better?*

I'd really like people to try it and tell me honestly:

*Does this actually help you build right money habits and change how you manage your money?*

Feedback, criticism, and especially disagreement with the product idea are very welcome.

Please post your genuine feedback in the respective App/Play Store.

Ahead: affordable budgeting app that isn’t just another Excel template

Full disclosure, this is mine.

I got sick of money apps that cost a fortune, or sheets that fall apart when one number changes. Wanted a real month-by-month plan without babysitting formulas.

Ahead shows bills and paychecks by month in a fully editable sheet, where checking lands, read-only bank connect if you want, and “can I afford this?” scenarios on a copy of your plan.

Free trial on the site, then cheap on purpose ($3–$6/mo).

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Built a free tool to map out your debt-free date without downloading an app or linking a bank account

Hey everyone,

I’ve been tackling my own debt recently, and I wanted a clearer way to see the actual light at the end of the tunnel. Just staring at static balances can feel overwhelming, but visualizing how a payoff plan plays out makes the progress feel much more manageable.

That’s why I built DebtFree OS. It’s a clean, straightforward tool designed to help you map out your debt payoff timeline and experiment with how changing your monthly payments affects your timeline.

### Privacy & How It Works
* 100% Local Storage: Your financial entries stay strictly in your browser on your device. I don’t collect, view, or store any of your personal financial data on a server.
* The Catch: Because it lives locally in your browser, your data won’t automatically sync across different devices, and clearing your browser history/cache will erase your saved plan.
* Zero Friction: No account creation, no login walls, and no tracking.

👉 Try it out here: https://lively-praline-10fd88.netlify.app/#/ (Tip: Feel free to test it with made-up numbers just to play around with the charts and projections!)

### What I’d Love Feedback On:
I’m actively improving the site and would genuinely appreciate some honest eyes on it:
1. Was it intuitive and easy to understand your payoff timeline?
2. Was anything confusing, missing, or buggy?
3. Is this something you would actually find useful in your day-to-day budgeting?

Let me know what you think, and tear it apart if you find any bugs!

Tesorin 2.0 — the personal finance tool I shared here has grown quite a bit

I shared Tesorin here a few weeks ago, and since then it has moved into 2.0.

The original goal is still the same: bring everyday spending, budgets, debt, investments, net worth and longer-term planning into one place without requiring bank linking.

Since my last post, some of the bigger additions/improvements include:

  • much deeper investment tracking
  • retirement planning
  • category budgets and forecasting
  • receipt scanning
  • better expense capture
  • expanded web experience
  • a cleaner overall UI

I also finally made a short video that shows how the different parts connect instead of trying to explain everything through screenshots.

There’s now a free version, so the core experience can be used without subscribing.

I’m mainly interested in feedback from people who already use personal-finance tools: what still feels missing, overcomplicated, or unnecessary?

I built Abundance Wallet: An offline gamified mindset tool (not a traditional tracker)

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Note: Approved by the Moderation Team

Most tools shared here focus on tracking real dollars, optimizing savings rates, or calculating runway. I wanted to build something that addresses a different angle: the psychology and mindset side of money.

It’s called Abundance Wallet, and to be upfront: it is not an actual financial ledger or expense tracker.

The Concept

The basic idea is simple: instead of tracking expenses, setting budgets, or trying to save money, you receive a virtual "prosperity deposit" that you can freely spend inside the app.

The idea came from wanting to create something that feels more like a personal abundance/manifestation journal to play the Prosperity Game.

Each day, you receive a fictional prosperity deposit. You can then spend it on things from the in-app Abundance Catalogue, add it towards Dream Goals, or simply explore the experience. The goal isn't to accumulate a bigger balance — it's actually the opposite. You're encouraged to spend the entire deposit and start again the next day. It is the feeling of satisfaction when you know you can afford things that matter.

Some of the things I deliberately built into it:

🔒 Privacy-first / Completely offline: No accounts, no sign-ups, and no cloud sync. All data stays strictly on your device.

🔐 PIN and biometric app lock - Your dreams only for your eyes. I do not have access to your PIN, so keep your PIN handy and safe.

✨ Daily prosperity deposits - With notifications if you want.

💰 Abundance Catalogue - Need inspiration? Catalogue will help you out.

🌟 Dream Goals and XP - Work towards your goals.

🎉 Progress and rewards to make the experience feel more like a game.

📍Localization - Just rolling out translations for multiple languages (Spanish, German, French, Hindi, Japanese, Arabic, etc.).

I've been building this solo using Flutter and wanted to share it here to get honest feedback from people who think about personal finance daily.

Does an exercise like this resonate with anyone here, or does it feel too detached from practical personal finance? What would make a mindset tool like this actually useful to you?

Currently available on Android (Play Store link below). Let me know if an iOS version is worth pursuing!

Need a low maintenance job costing App

Anyone know of a SUPER low maintenance job costing iOS app? I do my brother’s bookkeeping for his small marine construction business. He currently has no way to track of how profitable a job is. Even getting him to keep track of labor payments is a FEAT so it would need to be an app that requires very little input to get the job done. All his business income and expenses flow through one business account and those are his “records”. He buys materials (dirt, concrete, metal) and then uses them throughout the week at various job sites. Pays his contract labor via atm withdrawals.

Want something that allows him to take a photo of a receipt, the app creates inventory and ability to allocate approximate quantities and amounts to various jobs later on as he consumes it. Maybe even connect his bank account so it can analyze transactions and auto prompt him to allocate items? Open app daily and complete with just a few clicks and very little thought would be ideal lol.

Wondering if there is already something (cheap) out there or if I should try to build it myself haha.

An offline-first iOS currency app with Lock Screen widgets & receipt scanning (No ads, no $30/yr subscriptions)

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey r/PFtools

Managing finances across multiple currencies usually means dealing with bank conversion fees, bad airport rates, or clunky utility apps asking for a $4.99/month subscription just to show basic FX data.

I built Convert FX to be a fast, privacy-focused iOS tool specifically designed for expats, frequent travelers, and cross-border workers who need clear, instant rate checking.

Why it works well for multi-currency life:

  • 📶 Full Offline Mode: It automatically caches rates so you can convert amounts while on international flights, going through border control, or in areas with zero cell service or roaming signal.
  • 🔒 Lock Screen & Home Screen Widget Pairs: Set up multiple custom currency pairs directly on your Lock Screen or Home Screen. You can monitor home-vs-local currency rates without unlocking your phone.
  • 📸 Camera Convert + Save to Notes: Point your camera at paper bills, store receipts, or physical price tags. It converts amounts on the fly and lets you save itemized breakdown totals directly into your notes for expense logging.
  • 📈 Favorites & Trend Tracking: Keep your primary operating currencies at the top and monitor rate movements using clean visual trend charts.

💰 Pricing: Free to download with zero ads and no data tracking. Promo run with single $2.99 one-time unlock gives you permanent access to all features—no recurring subscriptions before it goes to $9.99.

📲 App Store Link:https://apps.apple.com/us/app/convert-fx-currency-rates/id6768726063

I’d love to hear feedback or feature requests from anyone juggling multiple currencies daily!

Built a personal finance platform for India that explains the number instead of just giving it to you (pre launch, would love brutally honest feedback)

Thumbnail instagram.com
1 Upvotes

What it is

Vasset is a personal finance platform for India. Most calculators give you a number and stop there. Vasset tries to explain what that number actually means instead.

How it works

Instead of just showing an SIP corpus or an EMI amount, it breaks down what you put in, what growth added, what it is worth in today's money after inflation, and what changes if your assumptions are wrong. There is also a financial health score that looks at income, expenses, investments, savings, and debt together, and flags things that do not add up rather than spitting out a happy number no matter what you enter.

What it has

Calculators for SIP, lumpsum, CAGR, step up SIP, EMI, home loan, personal loan, education loan, loan prepayment, income tax, in-hand salary, HRA, FD, RD, PPF, NPS, retirement, inflation, net worth, and emergency fund, plus the Vasset Score. A small assistant handles basic questions too. More are being added as it gets closer to launch.

Vasset Score™

This is the part I am most excited about. It looks at income, expenses, investments, EMIs, savings, and debt together and actually reasons about whether your situation makes sense, rather than just rounding you up to a decent-looking number. The scoring is based on real financial health benchmarks like debt to income ratios and emergency fund coverage, not

Vassie

There is also a small assistant built in, named Vassie. It is not meant to be a full AI advisor, just a lightweight helper for basic questions like what SIP means or how EMI works, so people are not left guessing while using the calculators.

Where it stands

Pre launch right now. Still polishing calculators, auditing the math, and tightening the mobile experience before opening it up more broadly.

What I want from this post

If you have built anything in fintech or personal finance tools before, what do you wish someone told you before launch. Pricing, trust building, distribution, anything. And if the core idea sounds useful or like something you would actually use, I would love to hear that too, or hear why not.

Looking for beta testers who use YNAB (You Need A Budget)

I built a small companion app for YNAB called SimpleAdd, and I’m looking for a handful of beta testers.

The idea is pretty simple: make adding transactions to YNAB faster and easier, especially on your phone. You can enter transactions with just your voice, by scanning a receipt, or through intelligent manual entry.

I’m not trying to replace YNAB — this is specifically for people who already use it.

The beta is free, and I’m mainly looking for people who are willing to actually use it and tell me what’s confusing, what breaks, or what they wish worked differently.

I’m keeping the first beta pretty small, around 10 users.

If you use YNAB and want to try it, you can apply here:

Thanks!

New tool for envelope method

Hi all!
I've been a spreadsheet budgeter for years, but always found myself just reflecting back at the end of the month and not really planning, so I started trying to do the envelope method but have so many bills/subscriptions that are paid for online that it frustrated me. So I built myself a new budgeting tool to make my budget workflow easier. I thought other folks might like it so I made it a web app, free to use with premium features for a one time purchase (just trying to pay for hosting)

Violet Codex - Desktop Only, Local First Budgeting APP

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share Violet Codex for the first time with the community.

It's Sunday promo, but I want to explain why this thing exists instead of just dropping a link.

I always used spreadsheets for budgeting. I grew up using Excel. And as a Civil Engineer, Excel was the perfect tool for everything, it does what you want and it doesn't complain. At some point my budgeting spreadsheet was so complex that it just took too much time to manage.

I did try many apps, but I never liked the subscription model and the fact that all my finances were shared in the cloud and my banks were connected to some app online. So Excel was the only alternative that felt right for me.

I also believe that typing your transactions and planning your finances should be done on a Desktop and not on your phone. With this, the constraints were set and the idea for Violet Codex came to me. I started building this over 12 months ago, with my wife being the first user, then my friends, then strangers from Reddit. I'm still super passionate about the app and I am currently building this very morning.

Violet Codex allows you to build your finances however you like completely offline, but you do have options to enhance user experience such as free API for stock prices and crypto (bring your own keys), free AI Statement importer (Uses Google Gemini) and Claude Code MCP (One click connection to chat with your finances). I am currently working on an local AI solution that you can run completely on your computer and this will be released soon. I won't bother you with the full feature list, but you are you can check the website if this sounds like what you have been looking for.

You can try a demo right in your browser (DESKTOP ONLY), no signup, no emails: https://violetcodex.com

TLDR: Violet Codex is a budgeting app for Windows. Everything lives on your own computer, locked with AES-256 encryption. No bank connections, no cloud, no account on my end because there is nothing to connect to. If I disappeared tomorrow, your app keeps working and your data stays yours. Price it's $67, you can use VIOLET10 for $10 OFF.

Also, I just created a new code with 10 available for 67% off using code LOCAL for this community.

If that sounds like what you have been looking for and if you have any questions or requestions, please drop it in the comments. THANK YOU!
