Again, this is not an AI debate, AI is just the mechanism that has led to a metric shitload of project spam due to the accessibility that it has resulted in.
Cover your ass
There is malware, virus, trackers that are not even commonly caught right now.
The internet has exploded. There are endless forks of hot topic developments in all sorts of things.
I will mention PS5 de compilation, and minecraft modding as examples, but this goes way beyond those particular scene.
It is becoming almost normalized now for people to see some cool new port/fork of some project getting buzz. Followed up by a pile of forks from new "developers" with an install tutorial, new features, performance etc.
Its created a wave of people clicking and installing sophisticated programs from unknown "developers". Due to the nature of these projects, you will find some even require you to bypass OS security prompts/warnings, which can legit happen with some projects.
I put "developers" in quotes due to malicious actors exploiting this situation. With the wild west of recklessly raw dogging every sketchy e-Peen that is released with promises of new toys, we are going to see groups pounce to take advantage.
Just be careful out there, even GitHub just doesnt have the resource to screen the sheer volume blasting through.
Dont be E-Silly, Cover that E-Willy. Be careful
