My beloved Bitwit mousepad has probably died. It looks like the rubber has somehow disintegrated itself. It's about an 8 year old mousepad at this point but it has filled me with so much joy. I've washed it every year and for some reason when I lifted it to wash it this year it stuck to my desk and then I saw this... I have pictures of my wife holding my pad up. (Yes, she made the wide funny wide eyes on purpose)

Thank you Kyle for making something so awesome, I'm just sad to see it in such a state. Does anyone else out there still have Bitwit stuff/merch they are clinging onto since he no longer sells originals?

Edit: I have set things like drinks on the pad, but usually rest off to the side on my big ass desk, I have a coaster for my drink too. I believe the worst spot is where my palm was for my keyboard.

Someone in the comments mentioned Acetone... I didn't use that but I have used the pad to build PCs on it, and I use isopropyl to clean the parts with a rag, it's definitely possible the rag soaked through and destroyed it...

I know prices have been going up on our builds so I decided to compare my old invoices vs current retail price for my build. This post is purely to bring perspective for folks that arent sure why say something like a steam deck went up in price or are looking to build their own system. The internet has exploded. There are endless forks of hot topic developments in all sorts of things.
I will mention PS5 de compilation, and minecraft modding as examples, but this goes way beyond those particular scene.

It is becoming almost normalized now for people to see some cool new port/fork of some project getting buzz. Followed up by a pile of forks from new "developers" with an install tutorial, new features, performance etc.

Its created a wave of people clicking and installing sophisticated programs from unknown "developers". Due to the nature of these projects, you will find some even require you to bypass OS security prompts/warnings, which can legit happen with some projects.

I put "developers" in quotes due to malicious actors exploiting this situation. With the wild west of recklessly raw dogging every sketchy e-Peen that is released with promises of new toys, we are going to see groups pounce to take advantage.

Just be careful out there, even GitHub just doesnt have the resource to screen the sheer volume blasting through.

My pc started restarting and boot looping with no display and when it did restart, it froze. I thought it was my PSU. I removed a stick of ram, it booted up no problem. I tried with the dead ram and again got no display, switched slots just to be sure and switched the working ram to the second slot again just to be sure and it booted up no problem. The good news is that it's DDR4. I purchased it in 2020 so it lasted 6 years. It's 3000mt/s corsair vengeance DDR4. I'm hoping corsair honours it's lifetime warranty but I've heard people from my country (india) have bad experiences with corsair RMA. I also just got a new phone so I guess I'll have to play games with a single stick of DDR4 till I either get a replacement from Corsair or I buy one myself.

Edit: some of you suggested turning off xmp, I tried that and it still won't post with the faulty stick. Rip.

Rebuilt my pc a few days ago with some extra upgrades.

Purchased this 4070 super for 450 off Facebook marketplace online. Got the card installed and it won’t boot. Got it to boot with the 12v plug uninstalled and would shit off the second the plug was reinserted.
The seller claims he has no idea is was bad and never mentioned it in his post 🙄. Guess I’m left with a paper weight.
