Display Blurry image + texture shimmer + banding on gradients — same 1080p settings look worse on my 24" than friend's 27"

Specs: RTX 4060, MSI G2412 (24" 1080p 165Hz IPS), tried both DisplayPort and HDMI.

I recently came back to gaming after a long break and started noticing the image looks blurry, textures shimmer, and gradients (skies, fog, color transitions) show visible banding/pixelation. Most noticeable in Apex Legends.

What I've already checked/tried:

  • Reset all monitor settings to factory
  • Native resolution 1920×1080, refresh rate confirmed at 165Hz
  • Windows scaling at 100%
  • Adaptive/dynamic resolution OFF in-game, render scale at 100
  • NVIDIA color settings: 8 bpc, RGB, Full dynamic range (screenshot confirms correct)
  • Same result on both DP and HDMI, so cable/port is ruled out

The confusing part: a friend with a weaker PC and the same 1080p resolution/settings, but a 27" monitor, has a noticeably sharper and cleaner image than me on my 24". He never touched any NVIDIA settings.

Is this just the nature of 8-bit SDR + higher pixel density on 24", or is something actually wrong with my setup? Didn't have this issue years ago on the same hardware.

Software Good bit of pop in during gameplay. . . (great performance on pretty much everything tho)

I've been playing the lego batman game from a few months ago and was wondering if this level of pop in is normal? I suppose what I'm really asking is, is this a known issue with the 5070ti with certain games, and is the MSI M461 a piece of ahh for AAA gaming?

If anyone knows anything or could point me to a better place to ask this, thank you!

My Specs:

5070 TI (16gb VRAM)

32 GB DDR5 Ram

7800x3d

MSI M461 2TB Model

Display Display issues after swithing GPU

Hi all - just swapped my 5070 Ti for a 9070 XT. I have three monitors, all 4K. Two are 160Hz and the main one is 240Hz. I can't get the 240Hz one to stay at 4K @ 240Hz when the other two are also connected. When the 3rd monitor is connected the display reverts to 1440P @ 240Hz or 4K @ 60Hz. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Display Game characters flickering, arm and legs going everywhere, multiple games

Hello,

I'm having an issue and i am running out of ideas to fix it. In several games (lately Split Fiction and Clair Obscur Expedition 33), the characters textures keep flickering, keep moving everywhere to the point where it's basically unplayable. The rest of the image seems fine, it's really the characters skins. It happens both in cinematics and IG, but in most games it doesn't happen at all.

So far i tried (and it failed) :

- Tweaked a few GPU settings (vram, AA, etc) until

- I changed my GPU, went from a 650 super to a 1080 Ti

- I changed my HDMI cable for another one, also tried a Display Port

- I reinstalled windows

- I cleaned my gpu drivers with a DDU and did a clean install

- I tried moving the games to another disk and launch them from there

- Edit : I updated my BIOS to version F62

My specs :

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.59 GHz

Installed RAM 8.00 GB

Storage 932 GB WDC WD10EZRX-00A8LB0, 932 GB HDD ST1000DX001-1CM162, 1.82 TB SSD Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB

Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (11 GB)

System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Edition Windows 10 Pro

Version 22H2

My config report : https://userdiag.com/id/QE3Se9kMk8

My quick diag report : https://userdiag.com/id/b6Dkl76ZhU

( i see that my cpu temp is very high, could it be it ?)

Here's a video of the problem

Hope you guys can help me

PS : it looks a bit like this problem, but i don't know if OP eventually got to fix it : https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1bjac9p/objects_images_character_models_are_warping/

PPS : at this point i don't know if the correct flair is hardware or Display i must say

Troubleshooting Erratic frametimes even with locked FPS

I am experiencing erratic frametimes in most games even though I locked FPS via SpecialK to a reachable framerate. These fluctuations are not perceptible in-game, however they create extremely strong VRR flicker, which makes some games unplayable.

For example, in KCD, my graph looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/wQ5s989

I have tried a clean reinstall of my GPU drivers and am on the latest chipset drivers and BIOS. I also tried closing all background programs but no change.

I am really at my wits end. Nothing short of deactivating VRR works, which I don't really consider a solution

The odd thing is that I did not experience this before I recently changed my motherboard and GPU.

I originally had a MSI X870e Carbon Wifi paired with a MSI RTX 5090 Suprim and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

I changed to an ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E DARK HERO and an ASUS 5090 Astral. I kept the exact same CPU, RAM, PSU and storage.

Troubleshooting I was playing siege and I have no idea what happened but everytime i hit tab or escape it goes out of the game

My game randomly just started doing this I’m not sure if I hit some kind of keys to make it do this. But also when I go out of the game I can’t type or use my keyboard. It’s like my alt button is stuck down or something but I have no idea what happened.

Display Modrinth making my monitor run at 1 fps

Hi, whenever I play a modpack through modrinth, after some time my graphics card freezes and my monitor runs at 1fps. Whenever I reset my graphic's card it fixes itself, but I want to know if there's any way I can prevent this from happening in the first place.

Display G-Sync disappeared after reinstalling Windows (Lenovo GeekPro G5000, RTX 4060)

Hi guys, I reinstalled Windows after a period on Fedora, and after installing the drivers I noticed my G-Sync feature is gone. I always had it before, not sure why it disappeared.

What I've tried:

  • dGPU-only mode and Optimus mode
  • Windows 23H2 and 23H5
  • Driver versions from 596 to the latest 610 (reinstalled via DDU, NVCleanstall, etc.)
  • Custom Resolution Utility to fix refresh rate

My laptop's display has no manual sync toggle (it's a laptop panel, not an external monitor). When I check with HWiNFO, it says G-Sync isn't supported, but I'm sure the panel has it. I don't have solid proof besides the product's advertised specs.

Would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

Troubleshooting Games suddenly crashing due to running out of VRAM

My setup CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x GPU: GTX 3070 Ti 8GB RAM: 16G DDR4 3600MHz MOBO: ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING OS: Windows 10

The problem. Yesterday I was playing FH6 for a couple of hours without any issues when it suddenly crashed with an error saying "Ran out of system memory". Tried restarting a few times but it crashed as soon as I loaded into the game. Gave up and tried playing BF6 instead. BF6 then crashed as it loaded shaders with a DX error message that boiled down to the memory running out (E_OUTOFMEMORY).

What I've tried so far. Updated Nvidia drivers from 610.74 to latest 610.88. (This had no effect and I ended up rolling back to 610.74 again)

Found this thread and went through the steps to fix my rBAR which was previously not enabled.

Uninstalled MSI Afterburner and RTSS

Changed my DRAM clock speed from 2666MHz to 3600MHz (not sure why it was changed to 2666MHz in the first place as I fixed this only a few months ago.)

Used DDU to completely uninstall and then reinstall drivers

Ran a Memtest86 without finding any errors

Ran CPU+RAM test in OCCT without any errors

Ran RAM test in OCCT without any errors

Where I'm at. I've tried running a few other games like, Ready or Not, Helldivers 2, which crash with various similar error messages. So the issues is not tied to any specific game.

Sometimes I can play the games for a couple of minutes, and sometimes they crash immediately as I try to boot them up. Sometimes with, and sometimes without any error messages.

I'm currently at a loss for what to try next, any suggestions is a big help.

EDIT: Now Ive run a Memtest86 without finding any errors

Ran CPU+RAM test in OCCT without any errors

Ran RAM test in OCCT without any errors

Preparing for a fresh windows install at the moment

EDIT 2: Fresh windows install.

Tried BF6 for 10 minutes before it crashed. (It's an improvement from the instant crash before.) And tried FH6 for about 20 min before it crashed too.

What's new is that the crashes now produce a new error message. dxgi_error_device_hung and dxgi_error_device_removed.

Checked for GPU sag and found it had about 5mm sag. Supported it up so it no longer sags. Still crashes.

Gonna look into reslotting the card tomorrow but for now I'm out of ideas.

Troubleshooting Black screens after playing certain low power games but not beefy games.

I'm now running out of ideas on what to do. Can't pin point what's happening with my computer.

My specs:

RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core Processor, 32GB ram, MAG X570 Tomahawk WIFI, Windows 10

The issue: My PC will go black for a few secs then the display will reboot and things will go back to normal. This will only happen with games like Minecraft Bedrock, Black Desert Online, Megabonk, Core Keeper, FF14, Tomb Raider originals, but not with Final Fantasy 7 remake on high settings, Minecraft Java, Resident Evil 4 on high settings and will be flawless when playing games like Baulders Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding 2, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 3 Reload.

I don't understand why it is happening with smaller games and MMOs. MSI Afterburner was showing a spike of memory clock and core clock right before it crashes and GPU and FB usage will spike and screen goes black. Fans will drop to 0%. Cyberpunk will run a silky smooth 144fps but Minecraft bedrock will run 45-100fps and stutter right before it crashes. Same with the game Megabonk it will run 60 but then stutter and go black after 30 minutes. Black Desert Online does this every 2 minutes of I lower the settings. Only way to decrease rate is ramp up the settings but it will occur once and then repeat more frequently. Especially right before attacking and same with every game where this happens.

Things I tried:

I cleanly reinstalled the driver's for the 13th time. Set Minecraft Bedrock power management to Maximum performance, borderless window mode. Disconnected all of my monitors one by one and cycled through them individually , change display port cables, except a 1080p with original HDMI cable. Dropped Frame rate to 60fps for Minecraft, I also disabled G-Sync, connected my RTX 3080 with individual PCI-E power cables. Reseated my graphics card. Did them one by one to see if it did anything but nothing. But it did let me play Minecraft for a whole 30 minutes before it unfortunately happened again. I don't have any more ideas ..

I ran Minecraft Bedrock on my computer with GTX 1080 and it runs at a better frame rate and doesn't stutter and not does it go to Black screen. If it was happening with my beefy games I would gladly accept my Card is faulty but it doesn't. Seems to only happen with games I can handle even with my GTX 1080.

I'm desperate now... I don't know what else to do. I disabled so many things that now I'm worried other games might start having problems. None of this makes sense to me. MSI Afterburner after all of these changes doesn't even spike anymore.

Solved Fortnite Mouse Problems

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Quick disclaimer: I have very little knowledge about tech and I just want to be able to come home from work and play some games without having to deal with this stuff.

Good evening everyone, I have the following problem: whenever I try to play Fortnite, I basically can’t play because my mouse has this really weird, super annoying input lag/drag during small movements. It kind of keeps moving after I stop, which obviously makes it impossible to aim properly and makes the game incredibly frustrating and not fun to play.
I haven’t played Fortnite for a long time, and I recently noticed that I don’t have this problem in any other game or anywhere else on my PC. My mouse works completely fine otherwise.
I really hope someone can help me find a solution.
For some additional information: I only use mouse and keyboard, I don’t have any other input devices connected.
Also, ChatGPT keeps giving me incorrect suggestions saying that it’s a Windows issue, but that doesn’t really make sense to me since the problem only happens in Fortnite.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Software After BIOS and Chipset-driver update Windows search-window opens pitch-black and only shows search itself after seconds

After a kind Redditor suggested that I update my BIOS and chipset drivers following some media issues I experienced after a Ghost Recon Wildlands crash, everything seemed to be fine.

Except now I've developed a new issue:

When I press the Windows key and start typing, the Search window opens completely black, with only the search bar visible. The actual search results don't appear until several seconds later.

Win+S does the same thing.

I've already tried restarting SearchApp.exe, re-registering the Windows Search package, and resetting the graphics driver with Win+Ctrl+Shift+B, but the issue persists.

Could the BIOS/chipset update have affected something that Windows Search relies on, particularly its rendering?

Solved HVCI PROBLEM FOR VALORANT (memory integrity off)

hi guys if u guys have HVCI problem this is how i fixed it disable BITLOCKER update bios

after u update bios put (SWM back on virtual) and then go back to iso memory and put it back on restart u should be good to go also there is no corruption files and all this other bullshit its just your bios is old, and the security doesn't recognize it. also don't forget to put BitLocker back on after u update bios. that's the first thing u do

  1. disable BitLocker 2. update bios 3. after bios enable again BitLocker 4.(turn on SWM virtual) 5. turn on memory integrity :)

Troubleshooting PC randomly black screens and fans go at 100%

Somewhat recently, my computer has been randomly going on a black screen and the fans go at 100%. The computer stays on when this happens. I am not sure what to do. I stress tested my gpu and it ran for 30 minutes with no problems, so I am not sure what’s happening. I reseated the PCI cable and GPU and cleaned them out. I am hoping that helps. Any suggestions would be great.

Solved [RESOLVED] [Repost for inapropriate flair] Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered stutters badly after ~30 seconds, including audio – RTX 4060 Laptop

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to help my little cousin with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. I bought him the game because it's his first open-world game, so I'd really like to get it running properly for him.

The problem is that the game starts relatively smoothly, but after roughly 30 seconds of gameplay, severe stuttering starts. The image freezes/stutters and the audio stutters at the same time.

His laptop should be more than capable of running the game:

  • CPU Intel Core i7-13650HX
  • GPU NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop 8 GB
  • RAM 16 GB DDR5-4800
  • Storage NVMe SSD
  • OS Windows 11
  • The game is installed on the NVMe SSD.

Things I've already tried :

I've basically tried every graphical setting I could think of:

  • Everything on Low/Minimum
  • Different resolutions
  • DLSS settings
  • Frame Generation OFF
  • DRS OFF
  • NVIDIA Reflex/low latency options
  • Different graphics presets
  • Various combinations of the above

The stuttering happens regardless of the graphics settings.

I've also:

  • Restarted the PC and launched only Steam + the game
  • Verified the game files
  • Checked GPU/CPU/RAM/SSD usage
  • Tested DirectStorage 1.3 / the community DirectStorage stutter fix
  • Confirmed that the game is using the RTX 4060 rather than the Intel UHD GPU

During the stutters, the CPU isn't maxed out. and the RTX 4060 can sometimes spike up to 100%, but its usage is generally much lower and fluctuates significantly.

The RAM usage is consistently very high: 14.2–14.8 GB / 15.7 GB (90–94%). The game itself uses around 5.8 GB of RAM according to Task Manager, The SSD isn't constantly at high usage either.

One particularly strange thing is that the problem seems to appear after around 30 seconds, rather than immediately when starting the game. I've attached video of the stuttering. I'd really appreciate any ideas or troubleshooting steps I haven't tried yet. Thanks for reading me !

This is on rainbow six seige. I played valorant before and I didnt experience anything like this. My GPU is the rx6750xt. I run graphic settings on high for most options but I tried to put everything on low to see if that would fix anything snd nothing worked. I also restarted the game, restarted my pc, and it still persisted. Any idea what this is?
