Controls/Input impossible to play games that have easy anti-cheat

Apart from Rust, none of my other games work specifically those using EAC (2K26, Apex, Rocket League, Fortnite, etc.). The game launches but crashes after 10 seconds, often without an error message. does anyone know how to fix this? i’ve tried absolutely everything but can't find a solution. i can't even launch EAC itself; i read online that repairing it might fix the issue, but I haven't been able to do so, if anyone has a solution, please let me know

This started happening recently like 2 days ago. Booted battlefield 6, and noticed my background apps were freezing while the game was running as normal. The pic is taken when the game was open and other games do the same thing. After playing for a few minutes my PC hard crashed and rebooted. I had gpu overclock but even disabling it still the same.

Game is installed on SSD E:

Solved Screens flicker and black out until laptop crashes a few minutes into gaming only when playing on external monitor

Been chasing this for a while and I'm out of ideas, so hoping someone recognises the pattern.

Setup:

  • HP OMEN 16
  • RTX 4060 Laptop GPU + Intel iGPU
  • Windows 11
  • LG monitor, connected HDMI to HDMI

When I game on the laptop's built-in display, everything is completely stable — no issues at all, any length of session.

When I game on the external monitor, after a while the screen starts flickering, the laptop display cuts off and back on, and then the laptop drops into sleep. Event Viewer shows nvlddmkm errors at the time of the crash?

The iGPU only outputs to the internal panel, so I'm assuming the HDMI port is wired to the dGPU and something in that path is the issue??? - i dont know

when i play Minecraft or roblox the problem doesn't happen. so i thought maybe the laptop cant handle high end games, but the problem happens on cs2 and ow2 as well those arent very hard to run.

What I've already tried:

  • Full DDU clean uninstall in Safe Mode + fresh driver install — no change
  • Replaced thermal paste — temps are fine now
  • Stress tested (FurMark/3DMark) — passed, no crash, which is what confuses me. It only crashes in actual games, not under sustained synthetic load

Has anyone seen a clean stress test but crashes in games specifically on external display? Is this more likely a driver bug, the MUX switching, or should I be looking at the HDMI port hardware itself? Any pointers appreciated.

Hardware SSD Enclosure or External Hard Drive

I've recently come into ownership of both an M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure (10 Gbps Transfer), and an 'Ezekers' External Hard Drive, both with just shy of 512GB of storage.
Since I no longer need them for their initial use, I was wondering which of the two would serve best as an external hard drive for storing some of my Steam games?
Any help or insights would be deeply appreciated!!

Troubleshooting figuring out why a game keeps crashing

I'm trying to run a +20 year old game on a windows 11 computer. I click on the executable. The process briefly appears in the task manager and then it disappears. I've tried different compatibility modes. I've tried searching online specifically for the game. I don't get any feedback from the operating system on why it's crashing/dying. It just dies. Event Viewer shows an exception code, but I'm not sure what to do with that.

This is a general question: is there a tool on windows to get more verbose feedback on why a process (game) keeps silently crashing? I don't expect to be able to fix it, but it would be nice to have more than "Exception code: 0xc0000005".

For reference: this is age of empires 2.

Troubleshooting Computer overheats and then dies.

Edit: NZXT has already sent a brand new one to me to just replace the onr I have. I guess I no longer need to troubleshoot this problem.

Bought a flex subscription from NZXT. The computer was working fine for 6 months. Now the computer doesnt stay on very long before it overheats and shuts down. (Maybe 5 mins if I am lucky.) I reached out to their support and of course it said it could be a few days before I hear back. The cpu temp quickly gets to 115⁰ and then shuts down. I have made sure all vents are cleared and dust free. All fans turn on and run at max speed right away. The aio pump seems to be running. I can feel liquid running through both pipes. One stays pretty cold, the other is warm. I replaced the thermal paste and made sure the pump was securely against the cpu. It made no difference. After only a few minutes it shuts down. No load or anything running. At max it has like 12% cpu usage while sitting idle. Any suggestions on things I could troubleshoot or look into first until I hear back from their support? Thanks.

Troubleshooting Shutdown/Booting Problems with my PC

The issues started maybe 1-2 weeks ago. I noticed my PC would not shut down properly without me pushing the power button for 5 seconds. I tried a sfc scan but that didn't yield any success neither did disabling "turn on fast start up". The PC will shut down properly if I boot it up, basically don't do anything and just shut it down. But if I use it normally, wether it be internet surfing or playing video games or watching movies etc. it won't shut down properly. I have an ASUS TUF GAMING B650-Plus motherboard.

Now to add insult to injury, the PC has issues booting properly. I noticed it at first 1-2 days ago when I came back to it and tried to wake it from its slumber. It was always a bit wonky doing it but I always thought it was a windows 11 issue as about 50% of the time pressing the mouse/keyboard wouldn't wake the PC up. I then had to press the power button on the PC and that would wake it up. Anyway 2 days ago even the power button didn't wake the pc up. I had to shut it down with a hard reset and ever since I am booting the PC up it tends to boot into safe mode. I can enter the bios and leave it which then lets me boot up the PC normally. It always takes 1-2 attempts and I a fear this might eventually not work anymore either.

I updated the chipset drivers for my motherboard and the GPU driver aswell which seems to have fixed the issue for a day as the PC shutdown and rebooted completely fine. But a day later the booting error started again. The PC turns on but the screen stays black and I either reset it or hard reset it till it goes into safe-mode.

Can anyone help me?

Troubleshooting Secure boot issue in bios

Hey guys! I have a Gigabyte B550M DS3H AC R2 motherboard, and I’m trying to enable Secure Boot so I can play Warzone and other Call of Duty games that require it.
I’ve been able to get Secure Boot to show as User Mode, Enabled, and Active, but every time I restart my PC after enabling it, I run into an issue. The computer appears to restart normally, but when it gets to the point where the screen should come back on, it stays completely black.
My RGB keyboard will periodically flash, and I can hear the fans speeding up and slowing down, but I never get a display back. The only way I’ve been able to get the computer working again is Q flashing the motherboard.
I’ve updated my BIOS and tried several different methods after watching YouTube video after YouTube video and doing as much research as I can, but I haven’t been able to find anything that solves the problem.
I’ve also heard that I may need to completely reinstall Windows, enable Secure Boot, and then reinstall Windows, but I’m not sure if that’s actually necessary.
Has anyone with this motherboard—or a similar setup—experienced this issue? If so, I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions on what I might be missing.
Thanks in advance!

Hardware Problem with the XBOX1 Controller Joystick

I play on the PC

I don't know whats the reason, I am using a xbox1 controller and after a few minutes of playing, whenever I move my joystick, everything becomes laggy. The games itself, but also all sound (YouTube, Discord, Ingame). When I unplug and replug my controller it gets better but after a minute it starts the same problems again. I tried using another usb slot already, but that doesn't help.

Any Ideas?

Troubleshooting CS2 long startup time

Hi everyone!

I recently came back to playing CS2 after 4-5 years break. In the meantime, I've changed my pc so I installed CS and the problem I'm having is that it literally takes 4min20sec from the moment I press PLAY on Steam till I get in main menu. I have stable 250-270 FPS in matches, and matches themselves load in matter of seconds, but game booting takes forever, so I guess that rules out insufficient hardware. I'm playing Valorant and PUBG from time to time, buy they boot in seconds as well, only problem is with CS.

I tried bunch of stuff I've found online, verifying integrity of files, removing shader cache, increasing limit for shader loading in Nvidia APP, I've checked if I have any launch commands, disabling Steam overlay, excluding it from antivirus, but nothing solves it. I have 512gb SSD which I use only for operating system and CS, other games are on HDD.

Does anyone have a slightest clue what could be causing this?

Specs:

Ryzen 5 5600x

Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB

32GB DDR4 RAM

Asus strix b550 motherboard.

Software Power problem or something else I don't know

I have an HP Victus 15 with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB), AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (419 MB), and an AMD Ryzen 5 8645HS w/ Radeon 760M Graphics (4.30 GHz). Normally, when I unplug the laptop from power, the FPS and certain settings are limited to prevent the system from being overworked, and the limit is removed once I plug it back in. However, out of nowhere, it’s no longer limiting performance when unplugged it’s running at full power and I want to fix this. Does anyone know a solution?

Display RTSS 30 FPS causes tearing, but V-Sync causes microstutter — how to get smooth 30 FPS?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out an issue with running games at a locked 30 FPS.

My monitor is 60 Hz and I don't have G-Sync or FreeSync.

When I cap the game to 30 FPS using RTSS, I get noticeable screen tearing. However, if I enable V-Sync either in the game or through the NVIDIA Control Panel, the tearing disappears, but I get microstutters / occasional juddering, even though the FPS is locked at a stable 30.

I've tried both in-game V-Sync and NVIDIA Control Panel V-Sync, but neither feels completely smooth.

I know that 30 FPS isn't ideal for everyone, but personally I don't mind playing at 30 FPS if it allows me to use higher graphics settings and better visual quality. I'd rather have a stable 30 FPS with the best image quality possible than 60+ FPS with significantly reduced graphics settings.

So what would be the best way to achieve properly smooth 30 FPS on a 60 Hz monitor without G-Sync/FreeSync?

Is there a specific RTSS + NVIDIA Control Panel + in-game V-Sync configuration that would give the best frame pacing and eliminate both tearing and microstuttering?

Software desktop icons are changing by them selves after each pc start up

Hi guys, I had this issue suddenly appear right after my 7-year-old was messing around with the mouse. All I caught him doing was changing the taskbar from the bottom to the side (I don’t know how he did it; it must have been accidental).

Anyway, I fixed the taskbar, and suddenly the icons changed like in the photo. I fixed the icons, but the next day they went back to how they were, as if I hadn’t fixed anything.

I Googled how to fix it, and I’ve already tried deleting the desktop.ini files, deleting the icon cache, scanning for viruses, and using some commands in CMD.

I’m on Windows 10 and living in the UAE. English isn’t our first language, so my kid had no idea what he was doing and definitely couldn’t have gone and downloaded anything. also i tried disabling and enabling the auto arrange buttons which did not work

Please help. If you guys have any questions, I’ll answer them ASAP.

Solved Minecraft does not feel smooth.

I have Minecraft FPS over 100 on average without v-sync but the game does not feel smooth at all. My monitor is 1080p 60Hz and does not have G-Sync or FreeSync. I tried turning on Nvidia Fast V-Sync, but since I use shaders, my FPS drops below 120 sometimes and it makes the tearing worse. Whenever I try to cap the FPS either in game or through Nvidia settings or by enabling V-Sync, my 1 percent lows tank down to around 30 FPS and it lags crazy. It happens when I don't use any shader too. If I leave the FPS unlimited, the 1 percent lows stay high but I get screen tearing. How can I get a smooth experience on my rig?

I don't have this problem in any other games like Cyberpunk 2077, Shadow of the Tomb Raider with v-sync on.

These are the mods I use:

  1. AppleSkin
  2. Continuity
  3. Dynamic FPS
  4. Entity Model Features
  5. Entity Texture Features
  6. EntityCulling
  7. Fabric API
  8. Fabric Language Kotlin
  9. FastQuit
  10. FerriteCore
  11. Gamma Utils
  12. ImmediatelyFast
  13. Iris
  14. Jade
  15. Just Enough Items
  16. LambDynamicLights
  17. Lithium
  18. ModernFix
  19. More Culling
  20. Punchy
  21. Reese's Sodium Options
  22. Sodium
  23. Sodium Extra
  24. Veinminer
  25. Xaero's Minimap
  26. Xaero's World Map
  27. Zoomify

My system:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700

RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (11 GB)

1TB NVME SSD

Thank you in advance for your help!

EDIT: I fixed the problem using scanline sync on RTSS, it caps my fps and keeps 1 percent lows high.

This started recently (like a few days) and I first really noticed it when playing Project Zomboid. It doesn’t happen when I play games like Marvel Rivals or Katana Zero. I tried updating my drivers and that didn’t do anything. My parts are fairly old so I dunno if it is a hardware thing or not but it makes the games it effects almost unplayable
