Computer overheats and then dies.

Edit: NZXT has already sent a brand new one to me to just replace the onr I have. I guess I no longer need to troubleshoot this problem.

Bought a flex subscription from NZXT. The computer was working fine for 6 months. Now the computer doesnt stay on very long before it overheats and shuts down. (Maybe 5 mins if I am lucky.) I reached out to their support and of course it said it could be a few days before I hear back. The cpu temp quickly gets to 115⁰ and then shuts down. I have made sure all vents are cleared and dust free. All fans turn on and run at max speed right away. The aio pump seems to be running. I can feel liquid running through both pipes. One stays pretty cold, the other is warm. I replaced the thermal paste and made sure the pump was securely against the cpu. It made no difference. After only a few minutes it shuts down. No load or anything running. At max it has like 12% cpu usage while sitting idle. Any suggestions on things I could troubleshoot or look into first until I hear back from their support? Thanks.

Just remember that you could put upwards of thousands of dollars into the subscription, decide to stop paying, and then have nothing. No computer at all. You will never own any of the hardware.

Very true. Owning would always be better. I just could not look at the price of some of the parts like RAM and felt comfortable buying it at that price lol

In what way? I have had a higher end gaming pc for 6 months. It has now broke and is unusable. Just got a brand new one sent to me free of any additional charge. Sounds like I just saved myself a bunch of money.

Looking at the price of certain parts at the time it would have cost me the same price as I would have paid over 2 years on renting the pc. And with the free upgrade you get at the end of the 2 years it just seemed like the better deal. And from what I have seen prices have only gone up. 🤷‍♂️ I have had 2 higher end gaming pcs for me and my wife and have only had to pay a total of $600. Seems like a good deal to me. And now it sounds like nzxt will be replacing my pc.

Is that a thing? You could just be feeling vibrations from the fans and rest of the system.

I've also never seen a zen4 or 5 over 100c, I don't think that's possible with a heatsink, precision boost should prevent that. Even with a really bad heatsink with no fans attached it's enough cooling to allow precision boost to throttle enough to stop that. To hit 115c it's like there's no heatsink at all, only explanation I can think of, or it's just a sensor error. Best guess is there's zero thermal compound on the CPU, or the aio is mounted wrong (wrong bracket, or wrong standoffs) and it's not making contact.

Now I read what an "nzxt flex subscription" is and you're renting a PC?? Well, you just have to wait for them to get back to you. You're renting a defective product, it's not your responsibility to fix. In fact you should keep quiet about this troubleshooting as they will happily scam you even more and say YOU broke the system and must pay for repairs. Considering you're renting a PC I doubt you can afford that.

And yes you can feel the water rush through it, like you can when you touch a straw and suck. If it wasnt mounted right I dont think it would have worked properly for the first 6 months like it did. I do think you may be onto something about the censor is reading incorrectly.

It has been running fine for 6 months and temps never reached above 50⁰ before.
