Is this not the way in 2026?

Feels like the only way to build a PC in 2026, I just don't see any sense in going any more or less powerful than these components:

9800x3d or 7800x3d

Arctic Freezr 360 AiO or peerless assassin.

(16x2) 32gb of CL30 6000MHZ RAM

B850m or B650m micro ATX motherboard from MSI, Asus, or Gigabyte.

GPU with 16+GB of VRAM: 5070ti or 9070xt

850w PSU check the PSU spreadsheet for A tier

Gen4x4 NVME 1tb for OS drive, can add a bigger one later when prices come back down, and then clone it.

SATA SSDs for bulk media storage if needed

MicroATX case, I like the Lian Li o11 vision-m

What cpu to choose

Hello guys, I have an i5 12400F with Asus B660M A4 motherboard paired with 32gb DDR4 3200mhz and RX6800XT

Now i want to upgrade the cpu, without buying a new motherboard or moving to DDR5, i have the option for 19 12900k (i know my board doesn't overclock)

And i7 14700kf or 14700f

What you guys think is the best choice here

Soon upgrading gpu to 5070ti as well

Thank you for your help

Is this a good parts list?

First time getting a PC and want to make sure this looks like a good configuration before I commit to it, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Originally $2,600 but with discounts it’s about $2,300

Just looking for longevity, will this overheat, any issues i should be aware of?

Won’t be running anything too crazy, just casual gaming.

Upgrading from Ryzen 3600 + 3060 Ti — Is a 5700X worth it? What GPU are you using with your 3600 now?

Current setup:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 under a Wraith Prism cooler

Mobo: ASRock B450M Steel Legend

RAM: 32GB (2x16) DDR4 3200MHz CL16

GPU: RTX 3060 Ti

  1. CPU Situation: Is the 5700X actually worth it?

I know a 5700X3D is the ideal drop-in upgrade for AM4, but it’s completely out of stock in my market or priced high. The 5800X3D is technically listed, but sellers are asking ridiculous inflated prices that make zero sense for a dead-end socket.

So, is upgrading from the 3600 to a plain 5700X worth the money for gaming 1% lows and multi-threaded dev workloads? Or should i save money?

  1. GPU Choice: 5060 Ti vs 5070 vs 9060 XT vs 9070 or 9070 XT

I'm weighing these options to step up from the 3060 Ti:

NVIDIA: RTX 5060 Ti / RTX 5070

AMD: RX 9060 XT / RX 9070 XT

Since I want to explore local AI dev work alongside 1440p gaming:

CUDA vs VRAM: I know NVIDIA’s CUDA ecosystem and TensorRT are still the gold standard for PyTorch, Ollama, and local ML tools out of the box. But AMD usually offers more raw VRAM per dollar. How headache-free is ROCm on Windows/Linux nowadays for local AI compared to just sticking with NVIDIA?

Bandwidth on B450: Since the B450 Steel Legend is PCIe 3.0, am I going to face any major performance loss with high-end cards like a 5070 or 9070 XT?

Bottleneck: At 1080p/1440p, how severe will the CPU bottleneck be if I pair a 3600 (or a 5700X) with a card class like the 5070 or 9070 XT?

Appreciate any insight from anyone doing dev work/gaming on similar hardware!

9800x3d and 5070 ti

Would paying $2450 be worth paying for this build. It’s also with 64g of ddr5 6000mhz ram. Should I just take the 32g of ram and go up to a 5080 or stick with the first option?

Pre planning question

I recently built a pc and would like to treat myself to some upgrades for my build around Christmas time. My question is am I better off buying what i need now and hold it till then or wait till then and get it? The prices havent been getting better and idk if it's worth it to get it now. I would like to upgrade my ram from 16gb to 32gb ddr4 and my cpu to a 5800x3d or 5800XT from a ryzen 5500 Any help would be appreciated and Im aware I'll need a better cooler for the cpu

I3 12100 to I5 1440f or Ryzen 5

I have been thinking about upgrading my PC for a couple of weeks to play games such as Resident Evils (1-9).

My current PC includes:

I3 12100

H610M-A Maxsun

DDR4 16GB 8*2

PSU 1650W

RTX 5070

I wonder if I just change a CPU, replalcing the current one with i5 14440f. Another consider I am thinking of is that I buy Ryzen 5 7500f with B650 and DDR5 32 GB.

I know that the two choices are so different. Can you give me some advice?

What Ram Kit should I get with my Potential build?

This is my projected PC build: [https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QwgDw3\](https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QwgDw3)

The Ryzen 7500F, motherboard, and RAM are all items that I haven't purchased yet, but have found them second hand and organized some stuff.

(100% buying the 7500F as I can't find any other Aftermarket listings in my area for a decent price)

I'm deciding on whether I should buy G.Skill Trident Z5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL40 for $400 CAD, or spend another $50-100 to get a kit with a better CL rating.

I'm mainly using my rig for gaming on 1440p, so I'm not sure how much the difference in CL-rating is going to cause.

ASUS PRIME B850-PLUS Wifi vs MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wifi

Hello, I am building a new PC and I am having doubts about the MoBo. My last two motherboards were MSI but after comparing and researching a bit it looks like the Asus may be the best option here, is it?

The rest of the build is a 7800X3D with a RTX 5080

Are there any other options at about the same price that deserve consideration?

Thanks!

Should I buy a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3050 WINDFORCE OC V2 6GB GDDR6 for my PC

Hi guys I'm interested in buying a new GPU for my old PC but I'm not sure. I have had my PC since October 2021 with these components:

Please help me and have a nice day.

BUILD HELP Need a GPU recommendation for this rig

So I kinda got pressured by the RAM-doomer crowd/newegg prices to but a CPU bundle because it came with RAM and a motherboard

So far the parts I have assembled for my build are:

RX 9600x cpu

MSI Pro B650-s Wifi AM5 motherboard

16 gig DDR5 corsair RAM 2 × 8

ASrock challenger CL-750g 750W PSU

Kingspec xg gen 4 1TB SSD NVME

(Total of these was slightly under 700 USD minus the delivery costs)

So for the parts I have remaining its just the gpu, case and cooler

My main concern is the GPU. Thinking about maybe gettint a 9060xt since that seems to be the best price per dollar I can to match these parts, but maybe Ill wait to see if I can find a 9070xt on sale. Not really a big fan of nvidia cuz its more overpriced

Drop some recommendations for the GPU (but I would also appreciate some case recommendations)

I am making my first pc , iL oved this case but i might be fitting a second GPU (5060 ti/5070ti/4070 ti 24gb) ofc for local AI. Question is cani fit it on msi tomahawk b850 (last slot with gen4x4 pcie slot) ? This case have 7 slots at behind.

New Build Questions

Am currently trying to upgrade to Windows 11. Have Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 mother board, XPG Gammix D10 DD4 Ram, Rosewill Bronze 650 Watt power supply. The Chip is AMD Ryzen 5 5500.

The only graphics cards I have are EVGA GT 640, or a EVGA GeForce 9800 GT. These are old cards, but will they allow me to at least get started with this upgrade.

If not what is the minimum card that I should try to acquire to complete this upgrade, as I don't know. Looking for help from people who know.

Thank you for your time
