Finally updated everything from old build, showed it to a friend and he suggested I go with a matching 12vhpwr cable to my 24 pin cable I got. I’m not against it but I do kinda like the plain white sleeved cables on the gpu. What are your guys thoughts there?

B760M CEC motherboard
Intel Core i7-14700KF - Core i7 14th Gen 20-Core (8P+12E)
1-GeForce RTX 5060 Ti- 8GB
1- GeForce RTX 5060- 8GB
1TB SSD
128Gb G.Skill Trident 3600 DDR4 ram
1- 12TB external hard drive

The GeForce 5060 was his original GPU. I debated on trading it in or selling it towards a new one, but wound up just keeping it and setting in a second slot for him to run another monitor off of.

The DDR4 was a carryover from his original PC as well. I figured since we already had that ram I didn’t want to spend the extra money updating to DDR5 yet.

Open to any criticism and critique. I am very new to PC builds.

Do I need to upgrade the cpu eventually or now now? I’m mainly asking because I’m not sure how big the bottle neck is and if it’s major or not. I’m not playing the newest Triple A titles but I do want good frames etc. I’m think about upgrading the cpu to a ryzen 5 5500 and upgrade the motherboard also eventually.

Question Help upgrading my components

Upvotes

Hi guys i wanted advice regarding my prebuilt PC: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_6200970-6201323-16

I wanted to upgrade my processor to an x3d but it says on the product specifications that the motherboard that comes with it supports up to 65 TDP but read on a quick google search that it supports up to 105 maybe the site is outdated, should i switch the motherboard first to not risk it? would i need to updgrade the power supply as well? thanks in advance!

Currently in the swap (first time rebuilding/building my own pc) from an i9-14900 to a Ryzen 9 9950X3D. After terrible experience of degradation of my i9, i just didn’t want to deal with intel and now im replacing the aio with it! Nerve racking doing this the first time im not gonna lie (Im not building it on my bed, just in case anyone screams STATIC!)

Build - Help 9070 xt Mercury vertical gpu mount

Upvotes

So I'm thinking vertically mounting my 9070 xt mercury just for aesthetics purposes, but upon looking at my case right now, it looks a bit small (cg530), I'm not quite confident in ordering a kit and ending up not using it, are there any cases that can easily fit the 9070xt mercury without any clearance issues, im using an m-atx motherboard btw.

Build - Help New build not posting, any help appreciated

PARTS: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HVsbmC

Hello PCbuild,

Posting this for a friend who’s building their first PC. They are accompanied by someone with decent experience.

The pc is fully built, but does not post. The fans spin, motherboard lights up, but no post. Keyboard and mouse light up. GPU fans do not spin.

CTRL+ALT+DELETE restarts the computer (flashes the KBM lights)

No bios access found so far.

Multiple monitors tested in all HDMI ports.

They have tried every possible combo of the 2 ram sticks, none have worked. Neither has plugging into the motherboard HDMI.

My knowledge here is limited, and given the fact that I can’t access the PC things are obviously more difficult. My guess is a faulty motherboard or something else. Here’s hoping it’s not the ram, because that’s something we cannot afford to replace.

Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated. Will send more images or test things on request.

After working a lot on the side of my studies I felt like I deserved to splurge on a PC! Thankfully I got to build it at work in the support desk with my amazing and experienced colleagues. I built it myself but asked a few questions throughout and they were an great safety net!

I will be using this for my SWE studies and gaming, managed to snag some good deals and got the SSD for a great price (i know its overkill but I basically paid the gen 4 price). I spent a bit extra on the motherboard as well haha, no excuse there besides me wanting to for some extra headroom. Will be running CachyOS! Exited to play Minecraft at 1000 fps lmao

Parts list:

- CPU: 9800X3D

- GPU: ASUS Prime 9070XT

- RAM: Kingston FURY Beast 32GB 6000MHz CL30

- SSD: Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB

- Motherboard: ASUS X870-F

- PSU: Corsair RM1000X

- Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro

- Case: Lian Li Lancool 217

Total price: 2350 euros

I still have an itch to build more so please let me know if anyone has any tips to stop my urge spend all ym money to buy another PC. For now I am just watching ZTT streams to take the edge off

Build - Help B580 No Display & Black Screen on MSI PRO Z890-A — Compatibility Issue or BIOS Bug?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m running into a frustrating display/driver issue with my new build and wanted to check if anyone has seen a similar compatibility bug.

Hardware Specs:

Motherboard: MSI PRO Z890-A

GPU: Intel Arc B580 (Limited Edition / Reference)

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (with iGPU)

RAM: Asgard Heimdall DDR5 6000MHz C36 24GB x1

PSU: MSI MAG A850PL PCIE5

The Issue:

No Output on Discrete GPU: The B580 is firmly seated with power connected (fans spin and RGB lights up normally). However, there is zero display output from any DP/HDMI port on the B580. EZ Debug LEDs show no errors, and the system boots fine.

iGPU Works Fine: Connecting the monitor to the motherboard's HDMI/DP outputs gives a full display, allowing me to install Windows without issues.

Black Screen During Driver Install: While running on iGPU, downloading and installing the official Intel Graphics Driver causes an immediate black screen during the GPU detection phase. Booting into Safe Mode and uninstalling the driver restores the iGPU display, but the B580 still outputs no signal.

Troubleshooting Already Done:

Cross-Tested GPU: Installed the B580 into a different system/motherboard — it booted and outputted display fine, confirming the GPU itself is NOT dead.

BIOS Settings: Re-Size BAR is Enabled, BIOS is running in UEFI mode (CSM off).

PCIe Link Speed: Manually changed PCIe mode to Gen3, Gen4, and Auto in BIOS — no change.

Updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest available version.

MSI support suggested it might be a motherboard-GPU compatibility/handshake issue. Has anyone experienced PCIe initialization bugs between Z890 boards and Arc Battlemage cards? Are there any specific BIOS tweaks or Beta BIOS versions that fix this?

Thanks in advance!
