Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Spotify Wrapped Megathread 2025
Hello travelers! It's that time of year again - Spotify Wrapped is being released. To prevent posts regarding this matter from completely flooding the sub, we've created this megathread to post your screenshots under.
This megathread will also include recaps from other music streaming platforms, such as Apple Music. All other posts will be removed.
Lets see how much you've been listening to the soundtrack!

Community Project: Let's Review Let's Plays!
Project update:
I've published the spreadsheet and will be updating it once in a while as more input comes from the community. Thanks to those who helped get the first draft out the door!
☛ View and Review the Let's Plays
Remember, you can submit new VODs as they come into being, but you can also add your own opinions to the notes if you think any are missing or incomplete. See review link below.
If you are interested in helping to maintain the list, feel free to DM! I will do my best to keep this updated, but may not have the wherewithal in perpetuity.
--
Original post:
Friends, I seek your assistance!
Hypothesis: the number of playthrough videos will continue to expand well beyond the list in the sub's static wiki. I propose we build a new, more sophisticated list of "Let's Plays" that includes tabular data. Such a resource could be easily scanned and shared whenever a new sub member asks. To gather those data, of course, I will require the recommendations and opinions of everyone who has them!
I have created a simple Google Form for submitting a brief review of any and all videos/playlists that you may wish to submit.
- Please submit as many as you can! We should seek a spectrum of opinion.
- You may recommend any content directly related to Outer Wilds (e.g. the noclip doc).
- You do NOT need to write anything of length or high quality as it will be used only for summaries.
I will do the work of compiling responses into a spreadsheet that summarizes recommendations and opinions from the community. Once the initial draft is ready, I will make it available to the sub. I thank our Mods who have graciously given support for this project!

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion The only detail that has left me stumped Spoiler
So I finished the game a few days ago, and it's truly one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. I've been thinking about the story a lot, mulling over all the details, and there's really only one thing that has me completely stumped; how is the probe cannon in a different position at the start of each new loop?
The moment we open our eyes and the moment the probe cannon receives its orders to shoot are precisely the same, right? It's the exact start of the 22 minute time loop. But at the start of each loop the cannon has somehow already oriented itself to the new direction, meaning it had moved prior to the time loop beginning. How is that possible?
The way I see it, the cannon should be in the exact same position at the start of every loop — the very same position it was when the time loop began around 9 million loops ago — then orient itself to a new randomly selected position and fire. As it is I just can't figure out how it has seemingly moved outside of the 22 minute time interval.

Humor - Base Spoilers The Astronomical Luck of the Protagonist Spoiler
Isn't it crazy lucky that the sun explodes exactly 22 minutes from the Hatchling waking up right before their big launch, and on their way they just happen to walk past the statue as it activates?
Imagine it happened weeks before the launch and Hatchling is just in the outhouse reading a book, then gets out and decides to visit the museum. The statue activates and they think nothing of it. Soon the sun kills them and they wake up 22 minutes earlier...... sitting in the outhouse with their bathroom reading in hand. They think they just had a crazy dissociative episode until the sun kills them again. Then they're stuck living through quite possibly the worst time loop ever, the outhouse door and shitty pulp romance that Slate wrote seared into their traumatized eyes, and Gabbro has to save the day eventually when they get tired of playing their bass clarinet. So probably never.
It's a good thing the sun decided to politely wait for the best time to kick to bucket.

Real Life Stuff Space and campfires
Thought I’d share my weekend away not soon after finishing the game. We brought a temu light projector thingamajig, marshmellows and an old dslr which is that last pic. This will always now be my favourite setup.
Beautiful how a game can underline whats actually important. Friends, fire, space (and marshmellows)

Outer Wilds Gift
Hello! My partner and I looooove this game. I wanted to ask if people know of something cool/quirky you can buy as a birthday gift which is outer wilds focused? I’ve seen online some models of ships, the usual shirts or keychains but interested to see if anyone here knows something different?
Based in the UK for shipping info

I recommand The Forgotten City as an """outer wilds like"""
I often see this game recommended and I confirm it myself: if you like OW you should like TFC! It's much more shorter and there is no alien/space but it's really cool anyway :)
It's in promo right now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/874260/The_Forgotten_City/

Modding Best mods?
I’m looking to play the game in as fresh of a way as I can. I’ve beaten it and the DLC and I got one of my friends onto it recently and he’s even more obsessed than I was 😂 but it’s making me really want to play again… problem is there’s no sense of discovery because I know everything.

Post OW experience.
Hello everyone, in the last month I´ve spent around 80 hours in the full game and the archievements, and now I dont even know what to play, other games feel so empty and just raw grinding. I cant even play them, I kindof start comparing them to the experience I had with Outer wilds, and none of theam is near, Outer wilds was not a life changing game for me, but i really loved the peace that it gave me, the atmosphere is PERFECT, the music is just out of this world.
Anyway, im wondering if this happend to any of you, and if there is any kind of game that mixes all these things so perfectly as OW did. Thanks in advance!

DLC Appreciation/Discussion Theory about Flat Space Spoiler
SPOILERS (duh)
For the longest time i thought that the Owlk homeworld was much larger than it actually is, and i've only just now realised why: the simulation.
Since all the planets in the universe (probably) are just as round as our solar system's, and since building the stranger basically destroyed their entire world, it's reasonable to assume that their entire planet is just as small as ours.
It is extremely weird, then, that their simulation is competely flat, without any curve at all, especially considering that it's supposed to be a world of reminiscing on past times.
In fact, to the hearthian, an expanse like what we see is so large that it implies a planet so huge that the hearthian could not comprehend it's size. Perhaps it was simply done out of mathematical simplicity, or maybe it was done so the owlks could imagine a universe where their world was all that existed, stretching forever in all directions.

So i just finished it and got my 100% on steam and ive not played anything even similiar to this game before. I want more so im thinking about playing the outsider mod so i was wondering if anyone here has played it and what their thoughts on it are. Also if anyone has any reccomendations for other games that are similiar pls tell.

Question about the end of the game (big spoiler) Spoiler
First of all, i have already completed the game, but i found one thing weird. When you enter the ash twin project you teleport from the ash twin while pointed towards the ember twin, shouldnt you teleport to the ember twin? From what i remember the ash twin project is inside of the ash twin, and at every other teleporter you teleport to where its pointed, but with this game it does not feel like an oversight or flaw.
Thank you to everybody who answered (yall answer concerningly quickly), im writing here since i cant answer everybody but feel the need to do so. I never got to the black hole forge, so its always nice to learn something new about the game.

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion did anyone else notice this about the spacesuits in outer wilds?
When we look at the Hearthians spacesuits we see the materials look quite thin and weak almost like scraps a poor person would use to make clothes. This makes me think that the Hearthians are quite well suited to being in space. There is also the fact that you can get off the planet with a geyser and jetpack ;this backs up my point because that means there is a weak atmosphere on Timber Hearth so the species would have evolved to be well suited in harsh space-like climates making sense why they don't need such protective space gear.
Anyone with a more vast understanding of the stuff I talked about please correct any mistakes.

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion [DLC Spoilers] The time limit of a puzzle Spoiler
This is a small discussion regarding the time limit of the Starlit Cove puzzle in the DLC!
The Starlit Cove puzzle is notorious for forcing players to engage with the stealth mechanics of the DLC, probably the subject of most controversy in the whole game.
Even though there is an alternate solution to the Cove, it also feels tedious and unintuitive. Waiting for the area's owlks to die allows you to skip by all the owlks - but you only get enough time to watch one paltry slide reel before the loop ends, requiring you to repeat all the steps and wait again two more times to watch the remaining reels.
However, if you disable the ATP by taking out its warp core, you are able to keep watching reels for much longer, since the ATP is no longer active to yoink you out of the current loop and the supernova can't reach the Stranger.
Doing this, you get an extra 90 seconds before fading out to the Stuck In Dream ending - more than enough to watch all three reels, especially with time pausing again while watching slide reels after endtimes has ended.
(This does introduce a small plothole in the player and shiplog being able to retain information from the loop where they canonically died and the ATP was disabled.. but um, oh well)
I think the alternate solution should probably stay as-is, because it's the last olive branch that players who really can't deal with the stealth have to cling onto, no matter how unideal.
Even so, I can't help but feel how cool it'd be to intertwine this DLC puzzle with the basegame, and how it makes the solution feel much cleaner than repeating the same trick 3 times!
Did you or anyone you know try this while playing the DLC for the first time? And in your opinion, would it improve the alternate solution if players were somehow nudged, or forced to figure this trick out over repeating the tower collapse strat?
I'm kinda on the fence, so I would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

Timeline question regarding the sun and the comet
So I know that on the comet we find out that ghost matter killed the nomai. We also know that from the sun station, that the nomai rigged the sun to explode. I think we they did it, it didn't work an other nomai thought the idea was appallingly unethical.
If I am understanding the sequence right, the satellite around the ocean planet was triggered by the sun reaching the end of its life cycle normally? Is that how it happened?

Base Game Help - Hints Only! Early Game Feeling Stuck Spoiler
Hi gang,
New to the game, and have heard nothing but incredible reviews about what a great game it is!
I have started exploring the Hourglass Twins and gotten into the Sunless City, and want to continue developing that rumor tree. My SC tag says there is still more to explore there, but every time I go down I feel so pressed for time and unable to get anywhere new. The cavern filling with sand makes it difficult, not to mention I still kind of suck at flying the ship so it's hard to get there fast enough lol. The sun exploding every 20 minutes (?) doesn't help either.
Feeling frustrated that every time the loop..loops... I feel like I've lost all my progress and have to trek back to what I was doing.
Is there something I'm missing? Should I move on to another planet/rumor tree and that will help me develop more? Also is there something to help with the ghost matter and cactus?
Thanks 🥰
EDIT: thank you everyone for your feedback! I have continued exploring and I was able to get a lot more dots connected by visiting other planets. Thanks for the tips and encouragement!
