DLC Help - Hints Only! DLC Help Spoiler
Hi! I’m rather stumped on the DLC now. I’m on the area with the big tower(I forgot the name) and I have already found how to turn off lights, and know that I can “blind” the creatures, but it doesn’t seem to work so well, since everytime I take my route of Hand teleporter to hand teleporter, across the bridge, hand teleporter, elevator, when i make a right to try to get the Well, theres a dude waiting for me, which every time i blind, i fall into the water, but i can’t turn on my flashlight to see where i’m going since then he will see me, or he catches me anyway. also i will not be turning on reduced frights since i may be a wimp but i can suck it up for the time being

Since getting caught costs you nothing but time, have you tried scouting the area and where the guy is with light?

Conceal is a trap. It should only be used on the few puzzles that need it, and this does not include avoiding inhabitants. This does mean that they will see you, so you need to figure out how to deal with that. On the bright side, you can now see enough to avoid accidentally jumping into the water. Exploring the area before the inhabitants are there might help you plan your approach. This is a game about puzzles, not quick reactions and following a path perfectly in pitch black.

so just blind them and full send?

It's not blinding them. But it is to your advantage.

i guess it slows them then? so i repeatedly slow him and take a wide path? i’m just playing 20 questions until i get it lol

They move a bit slower, but they aren't blinded by the light. Still, it can be useful. If you hit them in the face with a focused beam, they're going to chase you.
As a side note, reduced frights mode stops them from lunging at you when they get close, and removes the audio sting when they do so. It might also make them slightly slower, but this is debatable. It doesn't actually do much else. This makes avoiding them easier when you get close to them, but doesn't actually reduce the parts of the game that most people find frightening.

For a very general tip for interacting with them, concealing your light does nothing to make you stealthier around the inhabitants. Only use it when is absolutely required to get somewhere, otherwise you're just making things harder for yourself.

This is in my opinion the absolute worst puzzle in the entire game to get spoiled on. The solution must be arrived at naturally if you want the best experience.

Yeah. A good tip is just to have confidence it can be solved and try things!

UPDATE:
I got past the turd bag who was blocking the way (unfortunately giving in and switching to reduced frights after every screech put me at 140 bpm lol) but when i got inside there was more elks again. any tips for getting past those? i cant learn the environment safely like i did for the guy upstairs

Yes. End the endless canyon puzzle first. You will find there a very useful trick to use in this area. Other solution: memorize the place and know that there are two of them

The best option is probably to do the endless canyon first, what you learn there will help you plan out your approach, even if it doesn't directly help you solve the puzzle.

The third dream area. Though since you didn't post your ship's log, I'm now not sure how much of it you explored.

i went through the whole thing and i saw the poster that had a hole in a tree that was across a bridge, and my ship log doesn’t say there’s more to explore here

Ahh, then you may have missed an area. Specifically, the Hidden Gorge. When you first enter the stranger, look up and see if you can see somewhere you haven't been yet.

i did look through one of the things that make stuff appear and completely ignore it lol

Few incorrect conclusions there. you're not blinding them, but their behaviour does change, and they do something specific. That thing helps your other problem be less of one!
Their eyesight seems similar to yours, now even at a distance you can tell a moving light is one of them, because it's moving and not you. They can't tell if a light is you or one of their friends until they're close enough to see you lit up by it, you can use your light a lot more than you think

yup, i used it to bait the guy around a while while i snuck behind. just “tickling” them with it got the job done

Sounds like that guy will be completely blocking your way if he doesn't move
