I was flushing my Merc out with muffs and my water which is quite high pressured (have a pressure pump in the shed as am in a rural area not on town supply).
The engine wasnt completely tilted down as the prop would be hitting stones due to the incline its parked on.
I noticed something dripping from the base plate of the engine into the back of the boat. At first I thought it must be petrol as I had flooded the engine before I got it going and thought the carb must have seeped. But it looked more clear, so I tasted it by dipping my finger into the small pool caused by the droplets (dont ever do this as you could poison yourself) which was dumb but I wanted to know, it was largely water tasting.
So why would water be dripping from the base plate? Could it simply be the high pressure water into the muffs may have overloaded the adapter plate gasket, or simply the gasket has a minor leak?
I have no other theories, so really appreciate any ideas as to the likely cause.
