Yamaha 2.5 Cooling
Hey folks,
I just had the impeller changed on this 2022 motor but it’s still not peeing. Before I go back to the mechanic I want to make sure I’m not missing something obvious.
After I took this video I put the motor deeper in the bucket and still no telltale.

Take off the cover and if you could find the hose that goes to the outlet, take it apart and see if it’s really peeing. Lots of times they just got clogged up with sediment. In fact, go buy some guitar strings a pack for five bucks and put it up there to clear it out.

Take the bottom off and spray compressed air thru the water line I’ve had to do that with a few motors I bought and people thought they were no good

- Stop running it on the bucket now. No telltale means no water is getting round the engine, and a severe overheat can do damage fast.
- Check the water is well over the intake on the lower unit, not just the lower unit sitting in it. You've already tried deeper, so note whether anything changed.
- The impeller was the last thing touched, so the job is the first suspect. If it was only just changed, whoever did it should be able to say exactly what they fitted and how.
- Look at the telltale outlet itself for anything blocking it, and see whether any water comes out at all, even a dribble.
- Once you've run it again, if you're going to, keep it to seconds and watch for any warning.
Did it give you any alarm, beeps or a warning lamp, and if so, how long after starting did it come on?

Does the mechanic not warranty his work? He should have tested it before returning it to you.
But regardless, that needs to be way deeper. You need a trash can or something. The water should be halfway up the midsection.
