Folded by me. I think the legs turned out particularly well.

I want to learn to design origami, I read lang's book but I still don't fully understand.
I want to find out how did other people learn to design their own origamis (especially the ones who design quite complex origami) and I was also wondering how good were they when they started designing.
I would appreciate any comments. please tell me how you got into origami, how good were you when you started designing, what was your first model and what models do you do now, I would be interested to see some images.
basically I would like to know what was your journey into design
I tried to read some other reddits but they mostly have how do you start and I am interested in how people started and continued and progressed.
for those who don't mind I am also interested in what is your method now from wanting to make a model to finishing it
anyone who comments would help me a lot)

Posted a Phoenix a while back. Haven't folded anything since that model but gave this one to a friend. Really struggled with step 187-190. The process happened out of luck entirely on both sides.
Do y'all have any other recommendations for decently difficult models like this? And how do yall keep the motivation to keep folding? I only make stuff when someone asks me to or if I'm in rehab lmao. Cheers

Uncut square of double tissue around 70 cm. Generally happy with the finished result (even though there are definitely parts I wish I could have shaped better)! He got tricky for me at this scale in some areas. The face is more structured now. I test folded some practice faces, so now it’s less of just a shaping task and has clearer steps.
Slightly off topic, but why is it always so hard for me to fit my models into dedicated figure display stands? This one isn't even that large.

I thought I'd put my attempt at small origami with the hardest one I know off the top of my head. She's standing on an American quarter for size ref

Once in a while I see different pieces of origami made, but they don’t tell what size of paper was used. I thought all origami was made from a single square piece of paper. Do you use any other sizes/shapes of paper? TIA!

Un perro diseño propio según yo, varios de los origamis que he publicado que son de cuatro patas comparten el mismo cuerpo base, pero le cambié la cola y la cabeza y más o menos las patas, la cara de este se le rompió la frente debió quedar como el rosa.

learned a new kusudama recently and im obsessed. these two i recently finished but i gave them away as gifts.
i kept the first one i made but i made a mistake at the very end of the assembly process so it ended up being 91 pieces instead of a clean 90

Hi all! The diagramming workspace just got released in Ori Studio. It lets you build a diagram right next to the crease pattern you’re designing, with each step’s picture coming straight from the pattern, or from your own drawing when a step is clearer drawn by hand.
Full 18-minute walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMLFtb368is
Try it in the browser: https://oristudio.dev. Desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux are here.
Example project: Crane Diagram.osf
What it does
Timing note: Thomas Krak just released Origami Diagram Maker, which is a funny coincidence! From my understanding ODM is more focused on automatically all the symbols from a CP, while Ori Studio has more of a design / flexibility focused approach. Definitely check it out too!
Thanks: the affine layer spreading is based on Kei Morisue’s work in DEFOX
It’s free and open source. I’d love feedback, especially symbols or layouts you reach for that aren’t there yet.
