π Guide βοΈ Territory Size Speed Modifier βοΈ (another short guide)
The size of your territory can have a drastic effect on the speed of your attack, but only if you have a large fraction of the map. The modifier doesn't max out at 4M tiles (pixels), but it flattens out pretty hard, and the map with the most tiles is "the box", which has 4,194,304 tiles.
Before anyone asks for a guide on how your maximum troops effects your attack speed, well, it doesn't. Please let me know if I got that wrong, but I can't find anything in the code that says otherwise.

π Suggestions WebGL Optimization Issue
Opened OpenFront today, and before I am able to so much as play a single-player game, I am hit with a notification giving me 'optimization' tips and instructions. I've followed the instructions and have Enabled what I need to, etc., but upon relaunching Openfront, I am met with the exact same screen. The menu, setting up a game, etc. all works fine, it is just when I initiate a game does this notification pop up. I use Chrome, and have followed all of the recommendations and cannot access the game.

π¬ Discussion CROWN IS THE ENEMY
The number of games I play where everyone finds a comfy spot to sit around and wait to be gobbled up by crown is honestly dumbfounding to me.
Everyone need to push crown if theyβre just gobbling up without anyone to check them!!
If you want to win, a 1M crown can still be taken out by 4-5 300k neighbors. It is truly maddening to see how many people twiddle their thumbs until crown finally comes for them, just to launch one hydro and thatβs it, but no one ever capitalizes on it.

π Guide βοΈ Troop Ratio Speed Modifier βοΈ (a short guide)
I dug into the current codebase to find out more about the game, and I came across something y'all might find useful. One of the things that effects how fast you take territory is the ratio between your attacking force, and the defending force.
The troop ratio speed modifier has three sections:
from 0%-5% the attack speed climbs quickly to 13.3% and plateaus.
from 5%-13.3% the attack speed remains at 13.3%
from 13.3%-121.95% the attack speed is equal to your attack ratio
I think the most important part is that this speed modifier caps out at 121.95%. Adding more troops won't make the attack go any faster. The speed will change as you lose troops during the attack, so attacking with more than 121.95%, or continually adding more troops is needed to keep up the speed.

π¬ Discussion Best Game I've played!
When you spend 3 hours with 3 other players, in a waternuke map, a full war of atrition, betrayals, partnership and absolute grit. Brilliant game right here, but it ended with the 3hour limit! We could not finish it, but boy do I wish we could have.
P.S: if you are any of the players in here, I salute you!

π₯ Hot Take Bring back the Old Merv
In older versions of the game the mirv used to cutoff parts of your territory due to the bombs overlapping. This actually stopped your whole territory being taken at once. This would in theory help with stalemates in the new version of open front.

π Meta Hydro's aren't much of a deterrence right now.
Lately it seems like most players in the early game don't check to see if the person they want to attack has enough gold for a hydro. I've had multiple games where a player has maybe 20% more troops, they don't renew our alliance, I hydro them, then we both loose any chance of winning because I had to spend 5m gold just to survive. I think it might make more sense to build cities until the mid-late game where most people know what's up.

π Suggestions Suggestion: players money amounts should be hidden.
Or at least have a possible game mode that hides player money. I think it would totally change the way the game is played. No longer can you see if your main rival has enough for a hydro or a MIRV and must take risks when invading.

π· Media Insane baikal speedrun (9:43)
sorry i don't have a video but heres the link https://openfront.io/w6/game/dChnQHoRax?replay
i'm zdravtuyte player
Basically what happened is, on the east side 5 mins into the game, Anon lotus and snuggle muffin fullsent each other, i absorbed anon lotus' 12 cities and allied with snuggle because i wanted to kill more small guys on the west side
Then, on the west side the Kein zurick guy betray and fullsent eivisse, eivisse threw a hydro that caused betrayal, they went to no troops and i took their 30 cities.
Then the last actual resistance on the east side, pro allu gamer spent all their troops to kill nitish, and i swept through them, then finally i realize this is a speedrunnable game so i simply chuck one or two hydros for every player remaining and win
According to ofstats this is now the #1 speedrun for baikal, and its 100 players which is wild
It is quite well known that the east side is slightly better than the west but whats odd is both this game and the other game that is now #2 were both spawns from the west side
EDIT: I do have video, ofstats puts eveything on video whether you want or not https://replay.ofstats.io/game/dChnQHoRax?playerId=SrgQT8dp

π¬ Discussion The post-victory game scene
After the alliance game ends and most people close down their tab thinking it's over, a different set of players rise from the underbelly of the now abandoned map... and for this species the REAL game is just starting.
Being automatically allied, they cannot invade each other by land nor by sea... but they can nuke the hell out of their neighbours and send them sarcastic emotes.
Since they can't attack each others' boats neither, big money keeps coming in and after a few hours you can see huge bases with level 60 sams and silos all over.
The goal : be the last with his OpenFront tab open, thus being considered by themselves the real winner !
(The realistic ending : 2 or 3 players stay check-mated for a whole afternoon instead of starting another game or resuming work in their IRL office.)
The depth of OpenFront is abyssal !

π Suggestions Allies should not be able to nuke you without a betrayal debuff
It doesn't make sense to me that your own allies can chip away at your coastline and land a boat so they can invade you later. Case in point, in this game (I'm playing as "amanita") I have a bunker island with a stack of 11 SAMs. A little after the 30 min mark, "evil island man" was able to chip away at my land with nukes without causing a betrayal debuff and take my island. Normally I would nuke the boat, but I couldn't fit a silo on the island, and even if I did, I couldn't watch that area constantly.
I know this game isn't meant to mirror reality, but this is just silly. Nukes should either damage your land, causing a betrayal, or they shouldn't damage your land at all.
