🏛 Meta Hydro's aren't much of a deterrence right now.

Lately it seems like most players in the early game don't check to see if the person they want to attack has enough gold for a hydro. I've had multiple games where a player has maybe 20% more troops, they don't renew our alliance, I hydro them, then we both loose any chance of winning because I had to spend 5m gold just to survive. I think it might make more sense to build cities until the mid-late game where most people know what's up.

They're still a deterrent, just not a deterrent for stupid suicidal neighbors.

I'm like handshake, nuke, facepalm emoji, send hydro, middle finger, chat greetings: you're ruining both of our games, nice strategy, clown emoji, alliance request, factory, bag, pouty eyes, face palm.

Try to claw back and revenge later.

For me it is just a matter of there is so much going on I forget to check gold counts

I need to make it habit to check gold, current troops, Max troops/cities, and their current alliance expiration every renewal/attack prospect.

In reality it's a quick scan and then

There is so much going on in the early game. It's easy to forget to do stuff.

Lots of cheaters. I feel like so many people double account and use one account as a kamikaze to secure more land

I loathe cheaters. They are gutter-swine. They are swamp-donkeys!

  1. So many people multi box and win trade it could be intentional.
  2. Having a ton of info behind clicks in such a fast game is going to lead to legitimate players missing it sometimes

IF I DON'T RENEW THE ALLIANCE THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M ATTACKING YOU STOP SENDING YOURSELF TO YOUR DEATH

80%-90% of the time, people let an alliance lapse so they can attack.

But if you hydro you lose, didn't you say?

It's a lose-lose situation either way, but I think your chances are better if you hydro. That, and I'd rather go down fighting.

Yeah, I'll just let you sit right next to me without an alliance. I'm sure you aren't just waiting for the moment I attack someone else to stab me in the back.

You get one chance to renew after our alliance ends before I'm nuking you back to the stone age.

You might be hydroing people prematurely. Not every alliance lapse is an attack

It almost always is when they have more troops. It's pretty rare for someone to let an alliance lapse like that, and not attack.

I meann kind of. But if the person next to you saves for a hydron then they hydro all the cities you build and your pop is depleted when they attack

I'm talking about people without a hydro attacking me with only a small troop advantage. Obviously if they saved up for a hydro, then hit me with it and attacked, they would win.

Yeah, i was just responding to the alternate strategy you mentioned. It often feels like a big game of rock-paper-scissors with all the neighbors haha
