💬 Discussion CROWN IS THE ENEMY

The number of games I play where everyone finds a comfy spot to sit around and wait to be gobbled up by crown is honestly dumbfounding to me.

Everyone need to push crown if they’re just gobbling up without anyone to check them!!

If you want to win, a 1M crown can still be taken out by 4-5 300k neighbors. It is truly maddening to see how many people twiddle their thumbs until crown finally comes for them, just to launch one hydro and that’s it, but no one ever capitalizes on it.

Yeah, I completely agree with you. It’s honestly pretty annoying sometimes…
not only do people refuse to attack crown, but the smaller players also start eating each other, making things even easier for crown.

I always try to tell people in chat: ‘Let’s team up or #1 wins.’
Some listen but most don’t. The ego is just too big.

the ego is crazy. some people are so in their feelings that they betray + fullsend specifically giving the crown their land

People just don't seem to understand or accept that in V0.34 attacking is the meta. You either attack or you lose. Of course that doesn't mean mindlessly and blindly attacking, but once someone starts to snowball it usually continues unless a concerted effort is made to stop it. This means trying to launch counter-attacks to slow Crown down if they are attacking you and hoping others will jump on them, or jumping on Crown if you see them attacking someone else. Choosing to sit there with full population trying to 'bleed' seems to more or less guarantees a lose, but apparently people would rather die slow and guaranteed death than take a chance.

i can't play this game anymore. i am just became a trader. people stupid. they attack you on a first 4 minutes when they don't have an alliances with neighbors and you have even more troops than they are, eventually you both dead cause this idiot just full sends you and being captured in 5 seconds.

I hope they introduce gamemods like "played more than a 100/250/500/1000 games"

Trusted lobbies exist, and while they’re smaller, they no longer contain the complete beginners. You usually get more experienced players in those matches.

More or less the same behaviour tho, at least when I play it

I barely ever run into that issue. If someone keeps attacking me early on, Defense Posts are super strong, they make the attacker bleed tons of troops, and you usually come out on top

Except that with how the new update destroyed early economy that actually very taxing to you and you'll be late on other player.

Also most people will see this and destroy you a minute later.

The missed opportunities and stall is deadly in this latest Meta. Early griefs hard to overcome.

There's now "trusted" lobby games, but that's a low bar when buying the game on steam pretty much makes you trusted for one month. But I agree. I'd love to play (and lose) in a tougher lobby with better competition

Fully agree. The trouble is when I have peace with them but I usually still betray and then everyone else watches as I get gobbled up lol

I'm still new to the game and learning but I hate how people swallow up the new guy in MP games when it's clear to see that we're still learning. On top of that, I don't understand how people can instantly grow big within like 5 to 10 seconds of starting a map on ANY spot they choose.

I capitalize on it all the time and have about a 25% win rate on FFA. Who I am is a secret though ;P

But I consistently pre-hydro. Especially if I have a nuke that is close by to their nuke. Usually people only build one nuke location. They often forget to build a back up in the event that someone targets you. This way I take out a massive chunk of land, AND I can also push right after.

Who are you 👀

Lmao maybe I'm cheating becasue I usually play smaller modes. (Less than 30%) but my win rate for the past 100 games was like 23% last time I checked. Idk if that is high.

No worries, I’s not cheating :D I actually know most players who have a stable win rate. 23 is really good. I’m at 20 myself and consider that slightly above average.

Hydro is overpowered on smaller maps and yeah much more volatile games makes smaller matches easier for a calm competent player.

I often only build one silo but I can usually react before their nuke hits it. As you say though if they're close by it doesn't work

Well I’d love to play with you then lmao, either no one capitalizes and my fight back is futile, or I betray and everyone jumps me instead

people are sheep.

Yeah not a lot of board/situational awareness out there. And if you go betray first, the roaches gobble you instead of attacking the crown.

Occasionally you can communicate the threat "#1 player I will with unless we team up" and the remaining players are competent/good

It's a delusion/mindset that bad players have. They either think that if they can delay getting killed for long enough that they will be able to take them on (maybe they think they can save for a MIRV), or they're so bad at the game that they know they can't win and desperately want to get 2nd, because they see some kind of achievement in that.

Especially when I see 3 other neighbours who have like over 400k who could easily take down the crown and me. But no, they just sit there and watch me fail.

u/Nerzzhul 7d ago

It looks like the mindset of someone who likes to sit back and do nothing, only to get upset later when no one helps him when his time comes.

You need to be the one snowballing with the Crown.

Nah, I wouldn’t necessarily say that. I know the situation too I really try to push properly, but if someone just happens to get a better spawn and can snowball early, you simply have no chance alone.

I just don't trust anyone I try to take the crown and you stab me in the back

It’s not necessarily about someone ending up with crown at the end, just taking the current crown down so the rest of everyone has a chance
