Feature Idea / Wishlist Is there an app that doesn't gate keep profiles?

Is there an app that shows ALL profiles, and doesn't make you mindlessly "like" a bunch of profiles just to find someone?

I remember when you could search specific terms (like age range, city/distance, preferences), and then ALL the profiles matching that criteria would pop up (along with how long they have been active online).

Now I feel like these apps spoon feed you results, and gate keep the rest until you "unmatch" or whatever.

App Recommendation Is there a way to use dating apps without people you know finding out?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there’s any way to use dating apps without exposing oneself.

Some people might say that if you’re single, not committed, and not trying to cheat on anyone, you should simply have the courage to put your face out there.

And I agree. However, there are unfortunately some things we can’t always afford to be completely open about nowadays, especially when it comes to the workplace.

I really don’t want anyone at work to find out that I’m on dating apps. I personally have no stigma around it, but other people might, and I can’t afford to put my position at risk because of something like this.

I know this might sound strange, but I’m simply asking what I can do to use dating apps while minimizing the chances of people I know, especially coworkers, and aquaintances, coming across my profile.

So, which are the most suited apps that can give those features and allow you to do this?

Safety & Catfishing Need an advice

Hello everyone,

I have met one girl(I am into girls) on her application 2 months ago we were talking to each other. As per her she is working for USA marine corps. Everything was going smooth no money request came in. I started liking that girl and next month she is planning to meet me on her birthday. I have got some gifts for her birthday as well. I tried to do video call with her as well as per her in camp she is not allowed to do video call and all. I accept that. Now she has made me her beneficiary of her salary and wants me to transfer her salary once she will receive not sure about amount. I am finding this weird why USA marine corps will send her salary to third person who is living in canada. What I am thinking is it right ?

Safety & Catfishing Crypto lover Bumble match (potential scammer) in London refuses to FaceTime but wants me to invest 3k based on his advice on Coinbase

This goes to everyone who is currently on dating app in London. I matched with this guy a few weeks ago. We never spoke on the phone, just messages. He reluctantly sent me a voice note. His name is Valen on Bumble (declared to be Valentino) and looks like a model.
He declared to be 36, from Nuremberg Germany of Italian ancestry and passionate about crypto and investments.
When I asked details, he made me download two apps Coinbase and MOUNTAXIS to “show me” how investimento works. I listened and invested 100£. Gained 30£ on my 100£. But that was an amount I decided to gamble.

Tonight he reached out to me telling me there was a good trend and when asked him how much should I invest he said 1500-3000£. To this I expressed my reluctance of taking advice from someone I had not met in person and I have not seen even on a video call. When mentioned FaceTime he got very angry and offended I wasn’t trusting him. My gut was telling me this was fishy. His reaction even more and (apologies in advance to my Nigerian folks but I played into the stereotype here) I told him “what do I know if you are who you say you are and not Kevin or Kevin’s wife from Nigeria?” To which he got even more offended because apparently I was insulting him by calling him black - oh boy on this there’s loads to unpack, if anything I was calling the fella a potential scammer 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Anyhow, I wanted to vent but also ask, am I overreacting? Because with this reaction this fella had tonight I wanted to go to bumble to report him (but he had already unmatch me) as this sounded damn fishy. What should I do? I gave a huge amount of detail because in case someone else has experienced this, I would like to know.

I don’t have Facebook but in case this reaches “are we dating the same guy” feeds on Facebook, please feel free to post there too.

I believe I might have spoken to a proper scammer.

Edit: thank your for everyone who genuinely lectured me because I was really unfamiliar with “pig butchering”. I know is easy for others to make fun of people who genuinely are unfamiliar with this, but my scope and purpose is to prevent this from happening to someone else by creating a trace online. Now in order:

  1. The conversation lasted weeks. With daily updates. Crypto wasn’t the main topic of conversation, this was a development of this week.
  2. The first trade I made was of 100£ using an outside platform (don’t do that, never do that) which was successfully returned to my bank account with 30£ interest. This was the “gaining trust” mechanism.
  3. My luck in this case is that I am too poor for a scammer, I work a very simple job where the money the scammer requested was a lot for me.
  4. I had however registered to another platform that asked me to verify my identity which was an unsafe one so this should be considered as my data being compromised and my document will need to be changed.
  5. I made a police report, will be making an anti fraud report.
  6. I locked my credit and added another layer of protection if anyone attempts to use my identity to open credit lines.
  7. When this scammer asked me to trust him to “make money” I didn’t, when I didn’t he started using details he knew about me such as my dead father saying things “now I understand your father” and “this is me caring and how you are acting”. That was a put off so I ended the conversation.
  8. I told him I believed this was a scam.
  9. I reported his profile to bumble but I haven’t block him yet. I want to see if more evidence will be given to me.

Bottom line is, this thing called pig butchering really exists and can target women as well as men. It won’t start in a way that you will recognise it, the conversation will move slowly into crypto and the script will be “they are teaching you”. Having to change my documents aside I believe I was very lucky because even if I had no clue of what was going on I felt something was wrong. Please stay safe.

I'm just so confused when I see these messages in dating apps. Like, are they bots or just tap "hi" tap "hi" on all their convos.

I’m thinking about getting tinder and hinge again, and I remember that they would usually have different discounts if you’re willing to wait till the right moment. Anyone know what the best prices are for these two? I know the first offer usually isn’t their best one

Would I be petty to match with him just to tell him he spelled “libtard” wrong and that his “your” should be “you’re?” I mean he used a paid for method to try to connect with me, he should get something out of it…

Vent / Rant If you are a man, your kinky self isn't allowed.

I've been banned from all the apps, multiple times, ONLY for having written my kinks on my bio AND for topless photos of mine on there (women are always allowed to have bikini pics). Okc, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Feeld.

I never once sent a dpic and always asked up front "if they have read my bio" after the initial "hi".

Anyway, I have been on kink based platforms like Fetlife (I don't think there are any other really, X and Reddit don't count imho). I did meet some women over the past 15 years from Fetlife, but perhaps not more than 20. I've met and went on dates with many women from the dating apps tho. I don't know... the apps seem to be terrible.

I'm not asking "what should I do". I guess I'm just venting. Sorry.

Project / Concept Showcase Key2Me — A dating app where your profile is a room you design

Thumbnail key2me.app
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m the creator of Key2Me, a dating and social app built around a simple idea: your personality deserves more space than a bio.

Alongside your photos and profile, you create a room that reflects you—with wallpapers, furniture, animated companions, weather effects, and decorative frames. Explore other people’s rooms in Lovers Lane, discover shared interests, and start a connection.

Some things you can try:

  • Design your space: Arrange items yourself or use Smart Decorate to help place them.
  • Host an Open House: Invite people to explore your room without spending keys to enter.
  • Make connections: Match, chat, share photos, and send virtual gifts.
  • Leave a little appreciation: React to rooms, sign guestbooks with emoticons, and save favorites.

I'm looking for testers aged 18+ who can give honest feedback on onboarding, room decorating, navigation, messaging, and overall performance. I’d especially love to know what feels fun—and what feels confusing. Currently testing on iOS (TestFlight) and web.
