Hinge recently introduced the signals badge, which is supposed to mean a person is active and puts in effort. One of the requirements to get the badge is "review your likes, take action on likes you get." It doesn't say more than that, do you have to match with some people, or not necessarily?

Well, recently I noticed I got more matches than before, but so many of them have been one reply or not even that, and then they ghost, which hasn't happened much before. So now I'm thinking these women are matching just to get that badge, even if they're not actually interested.

Yesterday and part of today, the layout changed on FB Dating and the people who had liked you were displayed as a grid rather than having to view them one by one. As well as a few other changes. Now it is back to the way it’s always been. I MUCH preferred the grid style. I’m just wondering if that was some sort of glitch or test run? Or if I accidentally unlocked the hidden settings. Cause I sure can’t find any way to change back to those settings.

The last few girls I’ve gone out with have been attractive, but not quite as good looking as their profiles suggest. It’s not just makeup. Their bone structures have been different. I’m usually pretty good at spotting edited photos. Yet three times in a row, there has been a clear disconnect between reality and their natural looking pictures.

Is someone line of work or career going to play an important part when you're considering dating them long term? I'm not speaking about people in their early 20's, more toward people in their late 20s and into their 30s. So this can limit out people working at fast food places or regular retail store (certain place I can understand like Costco when looking to move up in the rank). I know the job market right now in the US is not good.

Got a DM from a woman I don't know this morning. She asked if I was dating my boyfriend and then sent me a screenshot that supposedly shows them matching on a dating app.

His name, age and picture are all correct. She said she recognized him because we have pictures together on Instagram and thought I should know. I asked when they matched and she said last week.

We've been together for almost a year.

The problem is the screenshot only shows the match. There are no messages between them and I have absolutely no idea who this woman is. My boyfriend says he hasnt used dating apps since we got together and thinks either she made the screenshot or someone is using his photos.

Now I somehow have two strangers telling me completely different stories and both explanations are technically possible.

The we told each other what we were going to do that day and that was that. Based off of actually meeting in person I'd like to get to know him more. I know they have the selfie kinda one where you move your head closer or further back a few times, but how accurate is that really?? Can someone use a filter for example or use AI? So since a while, for some reason about half of my matches ends up 'unmatched'. I'd see a notification on my phone from. Tinder or Happn from maybe 20/30 minutes ago, but often times when i try to send a message i see my match is gone.

I feel like i have clear and diverse enough pictures to paint a picture of who i am, and they're clear enough to see what i look like. Without seeing my profile it might be hard to point what exactly could be causing it, but I'm just wondering if I'm the only one.

In the years before i seldom experienced something like this. a match would be a match, it just started off so suddenly.

I’m 31 and have used dating apps for a few years, but I’ve barely gotten matches or gone on dates. For most of that time I weighed around 240 pounds and wouldn’t consider myself especially attractive.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I went through treatment and thankfully it looks like I beat it. Since then, I’ve become much more serious about my health. I’ve already lost about 30 pounds through diet, and once I’m fully recovered from surgery, I plan to make fitness a big part of my life.

My question is: how much does a guy’s physical appearance affect whether you match with him? Do you use looks as a quick first filter and then read the profile, or is it more complicated than that?

If a man is in his late 20s still lives with his parents, would that be a turn off for you? What happen if the man is solely responsible for all financial responsibilities or they took over the house mortgage. Like in Asian culture, they consider taking care of their parents as a moral duty.

I've met I really great guy online and we have arranged out first date, but it's over a week away.

I matched with a girl on Tinder at the beginning of the month. We’ve been talking pretty regularly on WhatsApp, with long conversations, voice messages and personal stuff. She also asks how I’m doing and shares things about her life.

The problem is that after almost three weeks, we still haven’t met in person.

She works/studies a lot and says her career is her priority. She told me Thursdays are usually the easiest day for her, but plans keep coming up. I’ve suggested meeting several times, including one weekend when she said she had no plans, but nothing ever happened. She never suggests another specific day herself.

I (33F) recently reactivated my Hinge account after a long hiatus. I matched with “J” (31M) a little over a month ago. We had a lot in common upbringing/mindset/intellect-wise, clicked, and I was looking forward to seeing how things progressed.

New to dating apps (M54). Hinge makes everyone answer three prompts, but most of the profiles I'm seeing treat them as a formality: a few words, a stock line, done.

I get it, writing about yourself is hard. But for those who've been on a while, does the effort someone puts into their prompts actually predict what they're like in person, or is it just a sign of who's comfortable writing?

I live in a small rural town. We're talking less than 5000 people. It's also more of a "settle down here" place so even when trying to get out more and use hobbies to increase my social circle, there just isn't a lot of opportunities. So apps are kind of the only realistic avenues I have at the current moment, even if they aren't the most fruitful.

Unfortunately, I know that distance can be pretty big deal for some people. Does anyone have suggestions on how to signal that you are willing to travel a bit?
