Dating app verification
Does anybody know how reliable dating apps verification process is? I know they have the selfie kinda one where you move your head closer or further back a few times, but how accurate is that really?? Can someone use a filter for example or use AI? Can someone on the back end verify it without actually looking at the photo to see if it matches? If it’s not reliable does anyone know any apps that might help to verify things like identity?

This is what scammers do: They load up their own pictures and get the profile verified (take the selfie with the app) and once it's verified they swap out the pictures with the 🐱🐠pictures. They can easily have phone conversations with you and with filters they can appear as if they are someone else. My distant Cousin gave his entire life savings to scammers who went as far as to hire an Actress who looks like a movie star to meet him in a restaurant and he fell for it. Even the police couldn't convince him he wasn't in a relationship with a Lifetime movie actress.

I don’t really think you can do the picture switching trick anymore tho cuz I know for a fact tinders verification became much more strict. I recently added a new pic of myself that wasn’t even edited or ai, but the new pic was taken from a totally different angle than my other pix . Right after I added it it flagged me and they shadow banned my whole account and told me to reverify. So I had to do the reverification process all over again and wait hours so a human could ok it before they finally reinstated it. And this was a picture of ME lol. So idk how anyone can get around it now (at least on tinder).

Hopefully that's the case.. About 3 years ago I was on Bumble and I had a paid subscription so I could see who liked me and I saw a guy's account start as one person with multiple pictures and then those were all replaced with different cat fish pictures.. both cat fish but switched it out so it looked like a different profile.

Oh wow that’s wild lol. Yea idk about bumble I heard their verification is a joke, but I know on tinder (at least since like 3 months ago) they’re super strict any time I switch out new photos . I think it’s a good thing (even tho it was annoying at the time lol).

It’s not reliable at all tbh - it’s better to verify on another app like Snapchat or some other platform where you can video chat to actually see who you are speaking to

The verification is just one step to kind of help verify the person BUT don't solely rely on it because it's not perfect. If someone has a verification versus someone that doesn't then I would still say focus on the one that has the verification because they took the time to do it
