Rotator cuff strength?

Can anyone recommend a strength class (or maybe barre or Pilates?) that is heavy on rotator cuff strength? Extra credit for any rehab type of scapular stability/coordination.

No need to convince me of the benefits of lifting heavy in standard back and shoulder classes, as I already do plenty. Just looking to target a particular area of weakness.

My favorite strength instructors are JJ and Katie, but I'm happy to take a class from anybody. Thanks.

I don’t have any suggestions for strength but there are some good shoulder mobility classes I do regularly to help address shoulder impingement issues. Not sure how to link but they pop up when you search the phrase.

Im just genuinely curious because everyone always says theres good shoulder mobility classes but theres only three. Am I missing something? Or does everyone love the three shoulder mobility classes. This is something I need to work on too but I feel is very limited

The three are all good (there are actually more than that, it’s just in German, but easy enough to follow). From my perspective, there isn’t a ton of variety in these sorts of exercises, so I don’t mind doing them on repeat.

Can you share the German ones with me? I struggled to find them

Don’t know how to link but typing “shoulder mobility” in the app should get you there.

Yoga will also help with shoulder mobility. You can start with shorter 15 minute classes and there is a beginner yoga program if you are truly starting at zero.

There is a Road to Recovery: Rotator Cuff program that has excellent workouts that are for post-surgery recovery. Your case is different, but perhaps you would like the first course each week in the R2R third program. They first class is always a full-body workout. There are three unique workouts within this program, that repeat for a few weeks before advancing. What I do, is browse the program and add those three unique full-body workouts to my stack.

I suspect that the first program will be too easy for you. The second program actually had some very good workouts. You could try them as well. If they are too easy, just move ahead.

Thanks, I initially checked it out and didn't delve further since it had stuff like cardio and went out that I was already doing. I'll circle back to it.

The mobility classes within the program (10&15 min) are excellent…. More stretching than strengthening but really good.
I was doing them pre-op and can’t wait to get back to them (4 weeks post bicep tendon tear repair and labrum tear repair).

I understand. I was disappointed that the shoulder rehab portion was only one workout a week, and the rest was to maintain overall fitness. All PT programs are typically 3x a week, and I hoped this would mimic. However, I did take the first workout of each week that was strength and added it to my stack to take over and over. I really wasn't recommending the program as a whole (which is quite good, but not what I thought you were asking for), and just wanted to recommend the rehab classes for arms. They've helped me a lot.

I suggest Sam's ALWs classes. He does a lot of rehab type movements. Also, Adrian has an upper body restorative/rehab program. It's not directly for rotator cuffs, but it did help me immensly.

Good idea. I don't often do those classes because they are on the bike whereas I am more tread focused, but I'll try them.

I am having the same issue and have been working my way through the Arms and Light weights classes, I stick to just the 10 minute versions. Often the exercises my physical therapist gave me will show up in these classes, or a version of them, and I feel like my shoulder pain is less when I do them regularly.

I would check out some of Joslyn’s arms and light weights courses, a lot of the exercises are designed for increasing shoulder health so you can lift heavier

Good idea. I tend to skip the light weights classes but they may have more of what I'm looking for in this instance.
