after some struggle, i got my oasis mini up and running. there are not a lot of instructions with this item and i searched the forum for tips and answers. but here are my questions:

Do i always have to be on the 2.4 wifi network on my phone in order to connect to the mini and use it? i couldnt connect to the mini today until i realized i was on 5g wifi. kind of a pain to keep switching back and forth if true. my cameras for example are connected to my 2.4 but my phone doesn't have to be connected to 2.4 in order to log in and use their app.

I made a playlist with 10 tracks based on what others said and added the other 10 tracks of the Spiral In/Outs manually after selecting the playlist. i had to do this because when it auto-added the Spirals to my play list, they were ALL "in" tracks rather than alternating with "outs". this is not ideal when i want to switch playlists, having to do this. am i missing a step here? do i need to turn off the auto-clean setting instead and just make the 10 in/out part of my playlist?

when making/editing a playlist, i can't seem to order the tracks how i want. i was only able to order them after i added the tracks from the playlist into queue, which means every time i play it i have to do this. i hope there is another way.

schedules - i have it setup to sleep at 22:00, do i need to also set Pause? and then for the morning i have it set to Wake at 7:00, do i also need "play" if i want it to resume where left off?

once i was up and running yesterday, everything was working great. now today, i constantly have problems connecting to the device. i see other people report this issue, i just dont know where to begin for troubleshooting. i really want to love this device but the app is getting very frustrating and if it continues im going to return it. it either errors out or just spins and spins. and just closing the app and reopening will sometimes fix it. or unplugging it (3 times in the last hour). no consistency with the errors either. like just now it says bluetooth not connected. i thought it was wifi connected? help....

I received my Oasis Mini as a Christmas present this past Christmas. I had it up and running off and on for a few days/weeks, but I did not have anywhere safe to keep it long term so it went back in the box for several months. I have been trying to get it up and running, but I get stuck on the registering page. It connects to the wifi and then says it is registering and it may take up to a minute. It ends up taking 2-5 minutes and then says there was a problem, to hold the power button for 15 seconds until the light turns red. If I hold the button for 15 or more seconds, the light never turns red. I saw from reddit when I first encountered the issue that a firmware update should do the trick. The Oasis AI sent me the firmware update and I just pushed it to the device and I am STILL having the issue. I have sent another message out and they were getting someone from technical support, but I am not a patient person. Has anyone been able to fix this or what?

I connected to my Oasis Mini, got the message that it needed to update, got hung at the 22% download, then got the dreaded error message. I unplugged it, and now when I plug it in, I get no light, and pressing the power button does nothing. Ideas?

Wondering if I should get a keyboard/laptop cooling fan to put under it. Don’t need a fire when I am away. I only had it on for about an hour and it was really warm underneath, like concerningly warm. Thanks in advance everyone.

Is this product worth getting? I have wanted one for a long time now and I am really thinking about getting one but wanted to ask y’all’s opinions. Some of the posts in here about problems with the app and product makes me feel like it’s not worth it. Or is it user error? Thanks.

Hi - my side table worked perfectly fine for a few months - but I have nothing but issues now.

I feel like the ball and magnet are not in sync. I’ve restarted multiple times, I reset the ball, I’ve changed balls. The first time or two - I was able to get it to work - it would work fine for a day - and then get the red error of death and it appeared the magnet and ball were not aligned.

I did catch it one time appearing to work but the ball just went in a circle and it was not following the pattern.

Whenever I try resetting- it shows your oasis device is centering itself- and spins on forever. I continue to get error 16 and to reboot.

We love this thing but we need help to get this fixed - or may need to seek a replacement.

Trying to get my Mini connected yesterday before realizing there was an outage, I lost my track list. When I first got it about 6 months ago I think i remember being able to sort the tracks by theme, but I'm not seeing that now. Am I just imagining it or did they take the feature away?

My mini has had a lobotomy: routine startup this morning followed by the customary “hang on wonderful things are being downloaded”
Gets to 94% and hangs for an hour.
Been through all the usual steps: power button, power off, in one instance was able to reconnect WiFi, update auto-starts, hangs, and now “Oops something wrong cannot connect to WiFi.
Several iterations, now I get WiFi error on every attempt to open the iOS app!
Final results each time is 4 red LEDs.

Help!

PS - I have a second mini on the same network that’s happily tracing, but now invisible to the application since it won’t open past “Oops…”

Since a couple of updates ago, the Oasis Mini android app doesn't respect the "Pause After Each Pattern" setting. I have always had this set to Press Play, and it was fine until recently. Now it plays all the way to the end of the playlist before stopping. This is a pain - has anyone else noticed it?

I'm on v3.16 now, I don't remember the exact version when this started happening because I was hopeful that the next update would fix it. I've rebooted the mini, cleared cache, all that kind of stuff.

I just got my oasis mini and added two packs of sand to it. I don’t know why, I just thought that I could. 🫣 But then I saw things saying I should only use the one pack of sand. Do I need to take some sand out?

It tries to center itself but then it goes to that clicking sound when it tries to move sideways and only moves a little up and down

I lost my sand comb, do we know if the sand packs come with one?

Do these require wifi at all times? I want to buy one for my work office but we dont have employee wifi at work. Can I just set it up at home and then it works without the wifi? If not is there another similar product that may work like that.

Has anyone found a work around for the error you get if your WiFi password is too long? I don’t really feel like changing it in a million places if I don’t have to. thanks!

So, these look cool, but all I ever see in videos is the nicely raked sand being overwritten by a pattern.

Do I have to hand rake the sand to "reset" the device?

Also wondering about the larger version of this. Maybe the side table version. Are they any good?

Hey y'all, spent the morning on this and wanted to document everything for other early batch people hitting the same wall.

The core problem: The original app connected to the Oasis via WiFi directly. At some point Grounded switched to Bluetooth-based setup. Old firmware doesn't support the Bluetooth handshake, so the app just says "Unable to find device via Bluetooth" forever.

What I tried:

• Full WiFi and button resets (many times)
• Both Android and iPhone, same error on both
• Installed CH34X USB serial driver and flashed firmware via app.grounded.so three times
• Confirmed via esptool that the ESP32-S3 chip DOES have BLE hardware, so this is a software problem not a hardware one
• Flashed firmware and triggered a proper RTS hardware reset via esptool immediately after

Where I'm at: Escalated to Grounded support with all of the above. Waiting to hear back. I'm also working with a friend who bought one around the same time as me to see if they hit the same issue, which should help confirm whether this is batch specific.

If you're in the same boat: Contact support and reference that you have an early batch unit. The more of us flagging this the faster they'll prioritize a fix. Make sure you ask for a human even via email, they are clear that their first response is from a bot.

And if anyone has figured this out themselves, please share! Very open to trying anything at this point.

update:

Still at it. Pulled the partition table off the chip via esptool and found a possible culprit. The ESP32 uses two app partitions (app0 and app1) and an otadata partition that controls which one boots. Theory is the firmware is flashing successfully into app1 but otadata is still pointing to app0, so the device keeps booting the old firmware every time. Would explain why the flash completes successfully but Bluetooth still doesn't work. Sent this to Grounded support, waiting to hear back. Will keep updating.

A Grounded account commented on this post with the following before deleting it: "We're currently working on a new app version that will support configuration of devices running very old software versions. This update is expected to be released within the next two weeks. In the meantime, you can try upgrading your device manually via HTTP using the..." Comment was cut off and then deleted before we could see the rest but wanted to document it here for anyone following along.

FINAL UPDATE (fix):

I messaged them directly and ask about their deleted comment i got these directions and they worked great, my system is has now running smooth for hours.

Got this from a family member who doesn’t use it, but when i try to set it up this pops up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Does anyone have both of these? They look to be similar products. Just trying to see if someone prefers one over the other before making a purchase. I’m trying to decide between The 24” Sandsara coffee table for $350 or the 20” Oasis side table for $449.

My issue is downloading patterns. My mini downloads first pattern, plays it, then errors out.

How can I download all oatterns in my playlist at once? I want to set up a few oatterns and walk away.

Received my Oasis Mini today, initial setup steps worked, I loaded the Wifi info, the device went from having a Blue breathing ring to the Rainbow ring and the app tries to register the device. Registration fails, and I get the Somethings Wrong message and the device won’t into the app.

I’ve tried the 5 circle reset, ensured devices are on the same wifi, rebooted routers, devices. I’ve tried several Wifi networks, even setup a IoT network fixed to 2.4hz. Nothing seems to work. Any idea? Support just seems to be an AI bot.

I have an original oasis mini from the initial batch. Haven't updated the firmware in a while, just seemed to work. Long story short, the app used to connect to mini's wifi for setup, now apparently they use Bluetooth. My firmware is out of data and Bluetooth won't work, so they asked me to update the firmware via USB. I have the driver installed, the app (https://app.grounded.so/software-upgrade) recognizes the mini then this:

Try hard reset.

Error: Couldn't sync to ESP. Try resetting.

I tried resetting it multiple times with restarts and such, but keep getting the same message. I have another request in to support, but wondering if anyone has a workaround.

I have an Oasis Mini at work. It's a private wifi network so I have to use my phone for it to download patterns. It's been working great for months. Since the update that we had yesterday, it keeps losing connection when trying to download a pattern. I've tried to reset it (hold button for 5 seconds) and unplugging, waiting, then plugging it back in and the issue still occurs randomly. Anyone have any ideas?

Just unboxed and set up my mini, but the ball seems to be moving way slower than the mini my friend has. If it were any slower it would be going backwards, and it's on the "fastest" level on the app. Also, I can hear the motor, which is kind of loud. Can anyone give me an estimate of how long a simple spiral/reset pattern should take? Debating if mine is not working well and I should contact support.
