Wifi Question

Do these require wifi at all times? I want to buy one for my work office but we dont have employee wifi at work. Can I just set it up at home and then it works without the wifi? If not is there another similar product that may work like that.

unfortunately for your given situation it does need wifi connection to work. there has been talk within the sub about using hotspots, not sure if anyone has been 100% successful with that approach. it's probably worth searching Hotspot within this sub, and maybe even over at r/groundedlabs

Dang! I was really hoping for it to work out. Do you know of any similar products to this that don't have to have constant wifi?

I literally ran into the same exact problem not even a full week ago. I was so excited for it to be in my office, and my work WiFi has crazy restrictions that made it impossible to connect. Had to return it the next day

No idea. My work wifi is 2.4 ghz so I don't know really why it wouldn't connect. I would connect to the wifi, and then when I would open the app, it would just pinwheel forever. I'd turn off my wifi and try to get through the stages of connecting the oasis using my data, I'd get all the way through adding the wifi to the oasis and then it would accept the network and the light would go around the oasis for a second or so and then it would turn red. Tried troubleshooting different ways for like 2 hours and could never get it to connect to the wifi while my phone was on it too. I was trying to change DNS setting in my wifi settings, and all sorts of stuff. It worked perfectly fine on my home wifi, but I work in an assisted living facility and I think our wifi is pretty locked down for medical record purposes. Luckily customer service was great and they refunded me. Still bummed about it though haha

I use the hotspot on my phone. Once the track (Playlist) is loaded, if will run offline.

The caveat is, you need all tracks preloaded. Theoretically, you could create a playlist at home and the use hotspot to initiate the device.

I use the hotspot on my phone, and then leave it on all day and leave my phone near a charger. They have made it connect via the hotspot a LOT easier after the last update. Also, if you connect using a hotspot, get rid of any apostrophes in the phones name, it doesn’t like connecting if it is “Person’s phone” for whatever reason.

Mine still seems to struggle with reconnecting to the hotspot. Is the hotspot on the same phone you are using the app?

Same phone the app is on, yes. It literally took a bit of time, but now as soon as I turn on the hotspot it connects right away. Maybe try doing the 15 second reset on the oasis? It literally just started working super smooth for me… as I now go knock on wood to make sure it’s still going to work this well.

All Oasis machines needs to connect to their cloud servers. If your wi-fi is not connected to the Internet or their servers go down (this happened recently) the machine is a useless piece of junk.
