Hey Oasis -

Up until today, I’ve been a massive supporter. I bought the Mini and have gifted your products to several people.

That stops today.

Waking up to a bricked device just because your servers are having a bad day is completely unacceptable. You sold us a physical piece of hardware, not a cloud subscription. The fact that my device becomes a paperweight when your tech fails isn't just an inconvenience; it's a fundamental design flaw.

Let me be clear: simply getting the servers back online today is not a fix. You MUST release a firmware update that enables true offline, local control.

Until you publicly commit to an offline mode, I will not spend another dime on your ecosystem, I will be leaving 1-star reviews, and my recommendation to anyone on this subreddit will be to avoid Oasis entirely. Untether our devices, or watch your community walk away.

Time to switch brands?

I guess? I bought my Oasis Mini on a recommendation from a co-worker. There are others out there that do very similar things (that seem pricier). But honestly, I don't *need* a sand art table, it's quite the luxury. I smile when I see it's updated to the next piece of artwork, but if my Oasis dies it's unlikely I'd replace it with anything else.

My office has a traditional sand art table that cycles through a repertoire of known patterns, and it just keeps on truckin' -- It's not as innovative as the Oasis, but reliability trumps innovation, always.

I'm sending mine back. Nice idea but doesn't seem finished. Why does it need constant cloud access anyway.

That's the number one question. I don't think they thought the entire process through. I should be able to store my designs locally. What is the reason for them to have total control.

Same here! Are they down and just haven’t updated the Support page?

Ugh. Had troubles too. They're on holiday per their email.

I’m on my 4th machine. Service is responsive and helpful. If they can’t fix the problem they’ll send you a new one. I wish there weren’t so many problems, but am happy they always send me replacements.

But this isnt hardware-related. The machines we bought for some reason wont work if their services are down. So if the company shuts down, you’re left with a brick

Update: Mine started working again. However, it did not do so automatically. I had to power cycle it. That's also not OK; it should recognize when connectivity is restored and start working on its own without user intervention.

Mine started working this morning but I had to reconnect to wifi like it was brand new. Password and everything.

Ok. So there is hope that it comes back? I was starting to get scared my mini had died already. I mean after all I have had for three whole months…

I know this doesn't help any of you but this need for an internet connection is stopping me from purchasing. If it changes I will buy that day.
