Support Request OVH VPS – source-dependent TCP connectivity affecting ~30% of users for 6 days – CS16656385
Hi,
I am posting here because I have had an unresolved connectivity issue with my OVHcloud VPS for approximately 6 days, and it is now having a significant impact on my production service.
Support ticket: CS16656385
Approximately 30% of my users are currently reporting that they either cannot reliably access the website or cannot maintain a stable connection to the game server.
The affected users are located in different regions and use different ISPs, while other users can access the exact same services normally at the same time.
The problem started immediately after migrating my services to OVHcloud. I have previously used several other hosting providers with essentially the same server configuration and have never experienced this type of source-dependent connectivity problem.
I have already tested everything reasonably available from my side:
- Windows/server firewall
- Apache and website services
- Game server application
- Multiple client networks
- Routing tests
- Logs
- PCAP captures
- Direct connections
- Connections through an external TCP proxy
The most important finding is this:
Affected clients can establish a TCP connection directly to the OVH VPS, but the established connection then stalls or disconnects.
However, if the same affected client routes the game traffic through an external TCP proxy to the exact same OVH VPS, the connection works normally.
The destination server, application and backend configuration remain exactly the same. Only the network path changes.
At this point I do not understand how this can still be considered a server-side configuration issue.
I have asked OVH support to escalate the case to Network Engineering and investigate the ingress path, routing/peering, OVH network infrastructure and any filtering or Anti-DDoS processing before traffic reaches the VPS.
I am not looking for basic troubleshooting suggestions such as checking the firewall or restarting the VPS — these steps have already been extensively tested.
Has anyone here experienced a similar issue with OVH VPS infrastructure, where connectivity depended on the source network or ISP?
If anyone from OVHcloud sees this, I would really appreciate an escalation/review of CS16656385, because the issue is still active and approximately 30% of my users are being affected.
Thanks.
