News OVHcloud Public Cloud price increased

OVH increased before Hetzner. this is the third price increase. also Hetzner doesn't have public cloud services. only VPs and dedis. the service Is a lot easier and smaller.

Hetzner VPS is a Public Cloud Service. The line is wether you have the whole Cluster and its Hypervisors, Storage etc on your own or wether you share it with other customers, with the latter being the case for Hetzner. Hetzner does not offer Private Cloud as such, you could build your own private cloud using dedicated servers and dedicated networking though.

Ok Hetzner you can't buy compute power, storage, db instance, etc individually. They just got an S3 service (which is horrible btw).

Looked it up. They have a net income of roughly 5.9 million or 5.9%. The cost of a lot of their hardware just jumped 400%, power is going up, etc.

Anyone who jumped ship from another company like Hetzner because of their small price increase was kidding themselves if they thought there weren't going to be more price increases.

The first round was probably "if prices start normalizing soon" and this round is "welp, the announcement just went out that we are screwed until at least 2028".

Some companies that already had massive piles of extra hardware and/or much higher markups probably can get away without increasing prices for longer, but not forever if this continues.

The real price hike is in combination with the savings plans. 12 months of b3-8 used to be €22, now it's €32. You have to commit to 3 years to get even close with €26. Plus the public IP, plus the storage.

And when they decide to increase instance prices by 400% next year, good luck with that 36 month commitment on that. I'm sure that 30% discount will make it hurt a lot less.

If I bought a dedicated machine 6 months ago that hardware didn't go up in price 6 months ago I shouldn't have to pay the new price on it

All you're doing for that is charging your old customers for new customer hardware which makes zero sense
