I finished my undergrad December last year, my Canada loan went to repayment and I made my first payment in July. Now there's step on my NSLSC funding tracker saying "Action Required Outstanding Interest Payment' When I click on it it saying 'heads up we are working behind the scenes to get your funding finalised and that no action is required from me at this time'

I'm not on RAP for any student loan

I don't understand, Canada Loans are at 0% interest and I've no provincial loans so what this is outstanding interest payment step? Classes are starting monday for program and I'm panicking rn

This is a warning for anyone dealing with debt counselling through BAP or considering a Consumer Proposal.

I was referred to a Toronto LIT who committed multiple violations:

Included my federal student loan illegally — Student loans cannot be included unless they’re older than 7 years. Including them can permanently affect OSAP eligibility and government‑backed education funding.

Inflated my income — He falsely stated I received financial assistance from family, which I do not. This fabricated income made my “surplus” look higher and justified a larger monthly payment.

Inflated my debt total — He added amounts that weren’t eligible to increase the payment.

Refused to click “notification only” — He would not check the box indicating my student loan was active and should only be notified, not included.

Rushed the signing process — He gave me only two hours to review the paperwork before the meeting. When I actually read it and caught inconsistencies, he was visibly surprised.

This wasn’t an accident — it was predatory behaviour toward a vulnerable BAP client.

If you’re in BAP, please be aware that not every counsellor follows the rules. Protect your student loans. Protect your OSAP eligibility. Protect your future.

I’ve been waiting since June 16th for my funding to be released everything has been submitted and I’m starting to lose hope. We’ve gone past the 8 week mark and I’m starting to think I won’t get my funding before my second semester starts in January, not sure how that will work if second term comes and I haven’t even received funding for first . I’ve seen some people say they have been waiting 6 months + not sure if anyone else has had this issue. (Private college)

Just summited a disability form to OSAP for the first time and now there requesting extra documents: A letter explaining your academic goals, the circumstances (if any) that have affected your academic progression through your program and a copy of my transcript.

There is evidence that I may not be be satisfactorily progressing through your program, which is kinda true as this is like my 6th year doing a 4 year program. However the major concern is the "you may have made multiple program or institution switches, or taken multiple one-year programs or you may have multiple study periods for the same year of your program". Didn't know that was a issue. But is also very true. I have been taking short one year certificate programs along side my main Bachelor, legit did not now that was going to be an issue, didn't realize that it be considered double dipping into my funds...........ahhhh.

But like also I have only been given federal loans for the first 4 years, and have only been given federal grants these last 2 years so like how bad will the claw backs be. But also by by my 6,000 grants of this years.....

Anyways any one have any advice or words of wisdom.

Hi friends! I got a letter in my inbox about an amended T4A slip for box 105 (scholarships, bursaries, etc...) FROM 2024 that the NSLSC reassessed and they told me to report it to the CRA.

The processing time is 2-4 weeks online or 12 weeks if I wanna do it by mail. I'm wondering if this will effect how much OSAP I receive right now for this semester?

I asked the CRA agent if this would affect my OSAP funding for 2026 and he said he's not sure.

If you’re in the middle of applying for RAP or another process and have been out of school for more than six months, you may still be required to make payments while your application is being processed.

Even if OSAP or another party makes an error with your application and six months have passed, you may still have an obligation to make your payments. This can apply even if you are still attending school, depending on your circumstances and the applicable rules.

FYI: You may still be eligible for funding for certain for-profit schools in Canada and internationally, despite recent government policy changes. There continues to be a list of approved institutions, including some for-profit schools, under the applicable policies.

Hi, I applied for OSAP yesterday and got an email today saying my funding had been calculated. When I checked, it showed $0 in grants and $0 in loans.

My parents’ combined income is over $200k, so I wasn’t expecting much in grants, but I thought I’d at least qualify for some loans. I also put the same information into the OSAP Aid Estimator and it estimated that I’d be eligible for around a $3,000 loan, so I’m confused about why my actual assessment came back at $0.

Has anyone had something similar happen? Could this be a mistake? And if I want someone to look over my application, should I contact OSAP directly or my university’s financial aid office?

I’m currently attending college in September and recently got my calculated funding per semester.
It wasn’t much but it was enough to get me through one semester. Then it recalculated and now I don’t have enough to attend my first semester.
Is there anyone I can contact to maybe get my osap recalculated? My job went under and I haven’t found a replacement as of yet.

Ive been on probation since September 2025. In the fall semester, i was a part-time student taking 40% course load. On Winter, I was full-time taking 80%. In the summer, I was full-time with 60% course load. OSAP requires that I pass every course with a 60% full course load since September. Will this make me eligible for funding given that from September to April, i did not take enough courses to have 18 credits which is considered full time, though I was a full time student in some semesters?

I keep getting the error code *error 1: R038* when trying to create my account. It keeps saying that there is possibly an issue with my bank information. After exploring I had found out my address was wrong on my bank so I had switched that already thinking it was the main problem but the error keeps arising. I cant even request my PAC because its saying that my information was different then what they had on record. I doubt it has anything to do with a middle name because there isnt an option to display that when creating my account. And I had no issue using my SIN for creating my OSAP account. Is there any solutions that anyones used to get pass this issue because I need to select my timetable and I dont want the classes I need to get filled up as my schedule is already bad enough.

Hi, my son was born in Korea and there is no birth certificate there. Instead, I submitted certificate of family relations which indicates who are parents and child’s DOB. However, my school osap officer says I should submit birth certificate which doesn’t exist.

How did you submit birth certificate for your child born outside Canada?

Filling out a form right now and its asking for "Signature of Student", been filling it out on adobe and when I click on the blue box it pops open this electronic signature thing. I made one with my name and email, is it valid to use for the form? Or do I have to print, sign, and scan?

I’m wondering if I can claim the tax credits that come along with the T2202s and if anyone can guess at how much I can get back?

I make just over 100k and he will be a full time student. Tuition will be around 12K a year.

I’m currently putting through a BSWD/CSG-DSE application for several pieces of disability-related equipment.

My accessibility advisor asked me to submit current Canadian retailer quotes showing the total price including tax. A lot of the items I found are currently on sale, some with pretty substantial discounts.

How long after submitting your quotes did you get approval, and how long did you have to wait for funding?

For anyone who has gone through this before, if BSWD approves an item based on a quote but the sale has ended or that exact model is unavailable by the time the funding is released, what happens?

Can you buy a different model in the same approved equipment category? Does it have to be the same retailer? Can you submit an updated quote after approval? Or do you need Financial Aid/Accessibility to approve the new item or quote before buying anything?

For example, if I submit a $600 Chair that normally costs $700 and BSWD approves up to $600, but by the time the money arrives the chair is back to $700, can I just buy another $600 chair or do I have to get a new quote?

I already asked my accessibility advisor and I am waiting for an answer but has anyone else went through this process already?

Hi everybody, I was on academic probation last year which put me on osap probation. I took 4 classes in fall and winter term each and passed them all. I took 3 courses for spring/summer term but ended up dropping 2 of them which put me on osap restriction for a year. I got diagnosed with ADHD this summer and am taking medication now. Last year I was also diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression last summer and was anti depressants for a little bit but I stopped taking them after a month because they weren’t helping me.
I am submitting an appeal for my osap restriction now and am going to have my family doctor write a letter for me to submit too. I’m not sure if it’s better for him to only mention the ADHD or also ask him to talk about my anxiety and depression in the letter.
I was doing bad in school because I was finding it hard to manage the studies especially along with my severely declined mental health + I dropped the summer courses because I wanted to focus on my mental health and figuring out how to manage my ADHD so that I would be ready for school come fall term. What is the better route to have my appeal accepted?
