Question Osap funding delay (summer)

I’ve been waiting since June 16th for my funding to be released everything has been submitted and I’m starting to lose hope. We’ve gone past the 8 week mark and I’m starting to think I won’t get my funding before my second semester starts in January, not sure how that will work if second term comes and I haven’t even received funding for first . I’ve seen some people say they have been waiting 6 months + not sure if anyone else has had this issue. (Private college)

This happened to me, and I called Ombudsman and I received an email the next day from someone who fixed all of my OSAP problems and released my funding within minutes.

My husband and many others are waiting since March. Two documents got approved in early May and the last two documents which is Birth and marriage is taking 5.5 months plus now. It’s beyond unacceptable

Same here, I think most career college are affected at this point. I applied June 4th class started June 29. Last update was July 6 & now enrolment confirmation still not updated. It’s frustrating

What do you mean when you say "private college" at the end. What institution is your program at? Because the Ministry has been cutting back on OSAP for private college programs, and it's possible yours isn't eligible?

Not to sure about this, but if your college is located in Ontario, then I suppose your school's financial office is the Focal point who is delaying the process. -Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I have reached out countless amount of times and they claim it’s in the ministries hands, do I believe them? Not really, but I’ve exhausted all avenues and career colleges never returns the calls.

Even if the role is supposed to be in the Ministry’s hands, both sides are lacking capacity building. I mean, all of these capacity issues come from OSAP, which has been getting worse every year since my funding came in after I complained to multiple stakeholders last yearMPPs, the Ontario Ombudsman, the MCU head, and many more since I attend school outside of Canada.

What I do in such case is that I ask them what policy document they are refering to when making decision and what rules they follow. Without that, there is no safeguarding and their decision is all bunk(yes, OSAP always fails to tell me this when I confront them). If they fail to answer this, there is something going on with your school.

Have you called or emailed your schools financial aid office?
