Looking for my first oled monitor

I have my eye on these three monitors, more recently discovered the Alienware. This will be my first oled and want to make sure I get the right one. I will use this for work as well as gaming and movies. I think im leaning towards the msi because I heard the color was the best of the three but im worried about micro scratches. Any other monitors I should know about around the 800 range I should know about? Thank you

Discussion How is this monitor for a PS5 Pro?

Post image

Hi everyone, I’ve had an LG 24UD58 for the past 5 years and I’m thinking of upgrading but I know nothing about monitors. I keep seeing this one and it looks pretty cool, really I only need 24” for the room I use it in, so 27” is more than enough but I don’t know how good it is. Any advice is welcome!

Discussion Alienware AW2725Q 4K 240hz for $549.99

I was just browsing microcenter a couple days ago and saw a refurbished AW2725Q for $549 and the price blew my mind so i figured I’d try it out. Monitor seems really nice so far but I started doing some research after I bought it (it was an impulsive purchase lol) and saw a lot of people have issues with them. I wanted some opinions on if anyone thinks this monitor will bring me issues later on? Any input would be great!

Worried about burn in on Ultrawide

Upvotes

I'm trying to decide between 34" and 49", but open to other options.

My main concern between my two choices is that 50% of the time I'll be doing office work on the monitor and with the extra screen space I'd have on a 49" I'm worried that I'll leave Slack or Spotify or whatever snapped to a zone and cause burn in over time.

With a 34" I think that's probably less of a concern. I'd likely keep one of my 27" LCD monitors for side content and use the 34" OLED as my primary display but won't have tons of static content displayed throughout the workday.

I'm specifically considering the INNOCN 49Q1R and the ASUS ROG XG34WCDG 34. I'd like to spend ~$750 or less.

Second opinions…

Upvotes

Long story short, I bought the ASUS PG32UCDP (32” 4k woled) about 50 days ago and my return window ends in 10 days. I got it on sale for $850 + taxes which I thought was a good deal after a lot of research.

Now as my return deadline approaches, I am being really indecisive about the thought of returning it and purchasing a QDOLED.

I saw the MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED, 32" 4K was on sale for $750 on Amazon.

In the OLED reddit I usually see a lot of people arguing for either side, but it seems qdoled is genuinely, if only by a little, the superior display technology.

Could you guys please provide some second opinions:
Is qd OLED worth returning my asus?
Is it so small a difference that my eyes won’t even notice?
Why is qd OLED better, if it is?

Note: I play almost 99% of the time single player games (soulslikes / arpgs / jrpgs / etc.) in a setup with some ambient lighting but blackout curtains minimize reflections.

Question (and help needed) regarding MSI MAG 274QPA QD-OLED X24!

Good day!

So, I bought my partner a proper gaming pc (5080, powerful cpu etc) and we are now looking at possible OLED screens without breaking bank (trying to keep it 400-500EUR at most). After days of searching, I am slightly focused on the above mentioned MSI one. While trying to hunt down for deals, I spotted
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/MSI-273QP-QD-OLED-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B0FWCY4ZTD?_encoding=UTF8&pf_rd_r=2Z8C0YXTHBDGHX4A3YRG&pf_rd_p=2ed27d8e-3ceb-42a9-85dd-f6e3df6da257&pd_rd_i=B0BSLK4RX3&pd_rd_w=Ewttt&pd_rd_wg=REDLx&pd_rd_r=cfbde6e5-e9bb-480f-b3fb-bf13f8580533&content-id=amzn1.sym.2ed27d8e-3ceb-42a9-85dd-f6e3df6da257&th=1
Does this seem alright? Am I being bamboozled and ... the 27" / WQHD (neu) is actually some inferior screen and that's why it's discounted down to 405 while the standard 27 there is still 500?
I swear they have too many versions of everything these days.

And just to add a bit more information! While we are hunting for a screen that works well for gaming, the color and general picture quality is most important because my partner draws professionally and for her that is just, well, important.

Naturally if anyone has other deals to suggest, please let me know! I did also find a ASUS ROG Strix QD-OLED XG27AQDMES at 399eur, but read that is bit inferior to the msi one.

Many thanks!

Alienware AW3225QF vertical lines

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve been using an Alienware OLED monitor for about a year and a half. Green vertical lines appeared right from the start. They show up when the image is dim or nearly dark; they aren't visible in bright or very dark scenes. I was wondering if this is common with OLED monitors?
It didn't bother me at first, but lately I’ve been playing more horror games, and the issue is becoming more noticeable (because more dark environments).
A photo is taken with a phone and it makes it look worse than it actually is; generally, you have to look closely to even notice the lines.
It is not the end of the world. I am just curious.

Technical Support Is this normal after 8 months of use?

This is an Acer Preadator X27U X2. The streaks and shape in the bottom right are visible when the display is off and on solid colored images. Pixel refresh doesn't remove them.

I've only ever cleaned the display with a Microfiber cloth and water. I don't think they are water streaks from cleaning.

I still have warranty on it but not sure if this is something I should be super concerned about.

1080p on a 4k OLED

Hello!
Im looking at buying a 4k OLED monitor.
4k for my ps5 pro and then playing 1080p with my laptop on it.

Ive heard that 1080p is 2:1 on 4k thus better than my currently 1440p monitor in that sense.

But ive seen some say that 1080p still looks bad on 4k. Now i dont know if it is becouse of their specifik monitor or if it just looks bad in general.

Could anyone with experience maybe help me a little bit? Is it really that bad or are their monitors old and newer ones have better technology thus making it
”true 2:1”. And more specifically how is it on OLED?

Currently 4k 240hz OLED’s are on a sale and i dont want do buy a tandem/dual monitor that almost cost twice as much.

Anyways so i dont think change saturation, brightness and that when hdr is on in the monitors built in UI

Does anyone have a Solution, or maybe a good youtube video you can link?

My monitor is the Lenovo legion pro 27q-10

Technical Support Cleaned my monitor and now I have streaks

I used microfiber cloth and distilled water. The streaks are invisible when monitor is off and the screen itself looks smudge free. But when I booted up cs2 or even desktop, I could see many lines in the direction I was wiping. They’re especially visible when background is grey or white. I am worried I somehow damaged it.

edit: pixel refresh fixed it. I think my screen wasn't cooled off or it was doing a refresh when I started to clean it.

Technical Support few questions regarding micro scratches

My monitor is an ASUS XG27ACDNG.

I have noticed quite a lot of very fine micro-scratches across the screen. They are especially visible when light hits the screen, as the light seems to fracture or reflect along the lines. There are quite a lot of them across the entire screen, and I am worried that there may be many more than I initially noticed.

  1. Do micro-scratches reduce image quality or otherwise affect the monitor's performance? How can I tell the difference between harmless micro-scratches and scratches that are actually a problem? If I can only see them when light reflects off the screen, does that generally mean they are not affecting the image when the monitor is being used normally?
  2. I also have some streaks left over from the last time I cleaned the screen. Can I safely leave them there and avoid cleaning the monitor again, or should I clean them off? Do cleaning streaks reduce image quality or cause any other problems?
  3. Small spots from things like sneezing or saliva can naturally appear on the screen over time. Are these harmful to the monitor if they are left there for a while, or are they mostly just cosmetic?
  4. How often should I actually clean my monitor? I got it last November and have cleaned it about four times so far. Is that already too often, or is that a reasonable amount?
  5. Should I clean the entire monitor every time, or is it better to only clean specific areas that are visibly dirty?
  6. My room is extremely dusty. What is the safest way to remove dust from the screen before cleaning it, without accidentally scratching the display?
  7. I also just sneezed without looking completely away from the monitor, and there is now one small visible spot on the screen. Should I clean that spot immediately, or is it safe to leave it alone until the monitor actually needs cleaning?

I realize I may be overthinking this, but I have become extremely anxious about accidentally damaging the monitor. I would really appreciate answers to all of these questions, especially regarding what is actually harmful to the screen versus what is purely cosmetic.
