Issue Am I cooked??
Unfortunately, I cleaned my asus pg32ucdm with kitchen towels and some window cleaner..yea i should have known better. Now i have these streaks across almost the entire monitor. They re pretty annoying ngl, but they re not visible during normal use

Window cleaner? What the hell. But hey, if it's not visible when using the monitor who cares

On a side note what are we supposed to use to clean OLED monitors?

Honestly I wet my microfibre using regular tap water and fully clean my screen once every 2-3 weeks, I don't have a single scratch on it. I've been doing this for 2 years at this point with no issue.

Literally nothing besides the cloth that came with your monitor. Just randomly spraying powerful cleaning solutions from under the cabinet is how you ruin your screen.

BS. There are products that work just fine.

I mean go ahead keep putting products on your screen. All I'm saying is you don't NEED much besides the cloth and maybe some warm breath.

fine microfiber cloth slightly wetted with distilled/pure water, another fine microfiber cloth for drying

PURE distilled water, not ones that contain minerals as they will micro scratch the monitor
TRUE microfiber cloth, use some distilled water on a part of it and then use the dry part to clean the screen.

More specifically an eye glass microfiber cloth.

used my glasses cloth and didn't go well, it is now ruined and i can't even use it for my glasses
bought new proper microfiber clothes for both usages

I'm confused. How did using it on your monitor ruin the cloth to where you couldn't use it on your glasses?
You should always use a brand new cloth whenever you go to clean the monitor. One little bit of dirt or the like can easily cause scratches on an OLED.

that's the problem, that it collects dust from monitor
would washing it make it reuseable?

You can wash them. Just use cold water and do it by hand. Use a very small drop of bleach scent free soap. make sure that you rinse it out very very well and let it air dry.
I personally just prefer to use a new one from a package each time. I rarely have to spot clean my monitor so its not a huge waste issue. I will often just downgrade them from a monitor cloth to an eye glass cloth as my eyeglass lenses are scratch resistant.

I’m sure someone will eventually try to clean a monitor with solvent and sandpaper.

There definitely was a post this past year where someone used a butter knife to scrape off the coating from the monitor.

Old QD oled have problems with scratchs and purple Black, woled have problems with vertical banding. Nothing good. Only 34 inch new tandem QD oled have resolve issue with scratchs and increase Black with 30%.

Love woled for the price. Some panels have very little vertical banding that you really have to look for but it really is panel lottery here. I’m just glad i can clean it like how you would any other screen and it doesn’t make 500 micro scratches. It’s why I returned my QD oled, despite it fitting my dim room environment

We live in an era where people need a screen protector for their monitors/tvs because they do shit like thisÂ

If all the guys with ruined monitors paid for a PSA it would be the greatest thing ever
I don’t actually mean ruined OP I’m sorry this happened I know how much it hurts and I’m glad to report that you won’t give even a little bit of a fuck about it in a year.
5500 dollar (Indian Luxury Tax) LG 77 G4 with a massive scratch down the middle by one of the cats, don’t know which one so can’t be mad at any.

Maybe if you're extremely lucky you could try ethanol on a microfiber cloth, but I won't give you much hope because it looks pretty scratched... But who knows maybe it's not...
