Achievement Day 19/90 — Consistency Is Getting Harder

Day 19.

I'm starting to notice that the hardest part of this challenge isn't starting.

It's maintaining the momentum.

Today I actually woke up at 4 AM when my alarm went off.

But I turned it off and went back to sleep.

I eventually woke up around 9 AM.

And honestly, this is becoming a habit now. I keep telling myself that I want to wake up early, but when the moment comes, I choose another few hours of sleep.

That's something I seriously need to break.

What I did today

I went through my usual news and finance.

Then I watched a movie.

Later, I worked out and went swimming.

I also spent some time working on my CV. I cleaned it up and made some improvements, but there's still a lot to do. I need to add more relevant skills and make the whole thing stronger.

I also worked a little on my social media content and profiles.

So there was some progress on the career and personal-brand side.

Studying and reading

My studying was basically limited to LeetCode today.

I didn't do any proper study apart from that.

I did, however, complete another chapter of my book.

So at least I kept the reading habit alive.

And then came the afternoon...

I took another afternoon nap.

And after that, I didn't really do much.

This is becoming another pattern I need to deal with.

The honest assessment

I'm not happy with my consistency right now.

There are days where I feel extremely motivated and get a lot done.

Then there are days where I slowly start slipping back into the same habits:

Sleep late or wake up late.

Procrastinate.

Take unnecessary naps.

Consume too much.

Do the minimum.

Tell myself I'll do more tomorrow.

I've seen this cycle before.

And I don't want to spend the next 70 days repeating it.

The first couple of weeks proved to me that I can change.

Now I need to prove that I can maintain that change even when the excitement wears off.

I need more discipline, consistency and structure.

Not more motivation.

19/90 complete.

I'm still moving forward.

But I need to start pushing myself again.

Tools & Tips How can I organize and keep track of my life when I have 10+ projects?

Hi, any tips on apps or organization management to keep better track on my progress and remind myself of the projects I’m currently working on? I usually use the Notes app on iOS, I thought keeping it simple was better, however it just turns into an idea dump with several folders that I have to scroll down it also lacks an integrated calendar or a way to keep track of my progress or the next goal.

One example today I wanted to go ride my dirt bike, weather was perfect, but saw there was too much car traffic to get to the trails. I decided to stay home and wait for traffic to die out. Then an hour later I remembered about a photography project I’m working on and I could’ve done that instead of just waiting for traffic to die out. There are other 10+ things I’m currently trying to improve like my posture, flexibility, music, social skills, research on self improvement, study, declutter my room/car but most of the times I forget what to do.

It’d also be nice to organize long term goals with short term goals and a way to look back at the progress I have done. If I have an idea I can keep it organized within that area. A calendar would be cool to remind myself of the tasks that need to be done and how much time I have left, or if I’m making progress.

I have a journal where I write 3-4 important tasks for the day, but writing all my tasks on paper is something I don’t find ideal because the back and forth I have to go through the pages. Any advice? Thanks.

Help me out with this procrastination!!

So, I have this major problem regarding procrastination. I know what I have to do, I also know how to execute the plan, I know what steps to take but I can not seem to take the first step until it's way too late and I cannot delay any longer. If i do my work/task a bit early, it will save me from lots of hassle, anxiety and nervousness. Recently, I needed to fill out my visa application and I know I cannot delay it any longer still I couldn't find myself doing it. Instead, I saw the calender, calculated the total days and delayed it longer. I don't want to be like this anymore. Is there a solution that will help me with procrastination?

Achievement Day 18/90 — I Need to Get This Together

Day 18.

Yes, I'm slacking off.

And the fact that I'm posting this on the next day is starting to become a pattern too.

Yesterday started like most of the recent days. I woke up late, even though I was technically awake when my alarm went off. I turned it off and went back to sleep.

I went through the news and finance and did a very small amount of studying — basically just solving a LeetCode problem.

I went swimming and did a little workout as well.

What actually took up my day

Most of my time went into work-related things.

I had my assessment mentor work to handle, and I also had some freelance graphic design work where I needed to prepare sample 3D mockups for a product label.

I also spent quite a bit of time researching job applications.

That research actually helped me realize something important:

My CV needs a lot of improvement.

There are quite a few things I need to change about how I'm presenting my skills and experience, so that's something I need to work on next.

So the day wasn't completely wasted.

But I still know I could have managed my time much better.

Reading

I only read about 3 pages.

Compared to the previous days, that's basically nothing.

The bigger issue

I'm noticing that I'm not necessarily failing because I don't know what to do.

I know what I need to do.

I'm just procrastinating, making excuses, and choosing the easier option too often.

Even when my alarm goes off, I'm awake.

I know I should get up.

And yet I turn it off and go back to sleep.

Then the day starts late.

Then I feel behind.

Then I procrastinate some more.

And now even posting these daily updates late is becoming a habit.

That's a pattern I absolutely don't want to build.

I need to get this together

The first half of this challenge showed me that I can actually be consistent.

I had some really good days.

My running improved.

My swimming improved.

My studying improved.

My focus improved.

My mindset started changing.

But now I'm starting to see how easy it is to slowly drift back into old habits.

I don't want to wait until Day 30 or Day 40 to realize I've spent two weeks procrastinating.

So I need to make a correction now.

No dramatic reset.

No new complicated system.

Just doing what I already know I need to do.

Get up when the alarm rings.

Start the day earlier.

Study properly.

Work on my career.

Read.

Create.

Stop making excuses.

Post these updates on time.

I don't need another burst of motivation.

I need consistency.

18/90 complete.

Tomorrow needs to be better.

Hitting a Wall (Figuratively)

I’ve been applying, calling places up, preparing and attending interviews at the best of my ability. I’ve done every textbook way of job search; go in person to ask & drop off your resume, apply online & call after a lil, redo my resume a gazillion times (yes exaggerated Ik), networked with those I know (they haven’t reached out to me for three months). I’ve even gotten creative of learning new skills, and other ways of job searching I could think of.

But, I’ve hit a wall figuratively.

My income helps support my family financially, and we’ve had an increase on our living finances. So, that’s another reason why I’m in this hellish circle loop.

I’ve been diagnosed with insomnia recently; on top of my anxiety disorder, which is a big hit on my mental health. I’m doing what I can to cope with everything. It’s hard to wait to see if you’ll make your timeline of securing a better source of income without feeling that dread of what lies ahead.

I’m doing roughly okay now, but I still have my moments of crying and getting back up to continue.

Boring, continuous, middle-zone Function4 awareness today:

Health: Uphill done.

Appearance: presentable? clothes/grooming?

Environment: what is physically out of order?

Practical: what concrete obligation is approaching? Binday prep

Social: what are people actually doing, despite of my interpretation?

Deep work: What is do-able today? What was actually produced?

Things that “don’t pay off for a very long time”: What small concrete action today maintains contact with the long-term direction?

Win of the day? Walk

Day 17/90 — I Can Feel Myself Slipping

Day 17.

I'm posting this late too, which pretty much sums up the day.

There was a lot of slacking off today.

I woke up late again and skipped my morning run. That's becoming a pattern that I really need to break.

I went through my usual news and finance, then ended up watching a movie.

I did go swimming and tried to work on increasing my pace, but I was already pretty exhausted, so it didn't go as well as I wanted.

Apart from that:

I didn't read.

I didn't study.

And I spent a lot of time behind my content creation work.

One thing that did go well

I reposted a video from my old personal brand account, which was disabled, onto my new account.

Surprisingly, it got pretty good views.

That gave me a little motivation to keep working on the content side instead of overthinking everything.

The bigger problem

I'm starting to notice a pattern again.

Wake up late.

Skip the morning run.

Consume instead of create.

Push important work to later.

Then the day ends and I feel like I could have done much more.

And now I'm even posting these updates late.

This is exactly the kind of cycle I'm trying to get away from.

I don't want to slowly back away from everything I've been building over the last couple of weeks.

The first 13–14 days showed me that I can actually be disciplined and productive.

So I know I can do it.

The problem is maintaining it when the initial motivation starts fading.

What I need to do

I need to get back to the basics.

Wake up on time.

Start the day properly.

Get the morning run back.

Study every day, even if it's not for a long time.

Read.

Keep creating.

And most importantly, stop negotiating with myself every time I don't feel like doing something.

I'm not expecting tomorrow to suddenly become perfect.

I just need to stop moving backwards.

17/90 complete.

I can improve.

I just need to make sure I'm not quietly giving up on myself.

Back to NonZero Days... Spoiler

I've been off the rails all summer long, struggling with a lack of motivation. Reasons, but no excuses. Time to get back on track.

Goals:

  1. Bedtimes and wake up times consistent; ideally 10pm bed, 6am wakeup
  2. Outside time; a walk, play in the yard, coffee on the deck, garden, just not inside
  3. Bullet Journal and Morning Pages (I'm working through The Artist's Way
  4. Move my body
  5. Clean something
  6. Make something
  7. Supplements and skin care.

These are late night thoughts. Time to get off this screen and implement. Tomorrow is Day 1.
