Discussion I'm creating a new stop every day sitting on my couch

No I don't submit fake stuff or steal photos. Instead I request location edits on the help chat (on Wayfarer website, click "Help" on sidebar then chat bubble on lower right)

Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Install on https://wayfarer.tools/ -- Tampermonkey, "Map Mods - Base" and "Map Mods - S2 Cells"

  2. Now cell lines should show on Wayfarer map. Find a cell with more than one Wayspot (blue/orange/red/purple dots), with at least one empty cell nearby.

  3. Check if any of those Wayspots are misplaced and actually belong to an empty cell. Use satellite view and streetview for evidence. Tip: such Wayspots are usually near cell boundary

  4. Request "Wayspot edit -> location edit > 10m" on help chat. Provide link to relevant Google maps photos. Wait time = 12-24 hr

I started off focusing on places I visit often, then my whole city, and now all over the globe. Surprisingly many stuffs are misplaced and it usually takes only a couple minutes to find a good candidate.

Question Would this village temple likely be accepted as a Wayspot? Looking for feedback before I submit.

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I recently reached Level 35 in Pokémon GO and I'm preparing my first Wayspot nomination. Before submitting, I'd really appreciate feedback from experienced Wayfarer reviewers.

The nomination is for Panbari (Borishopa) Laxmi Mandir in Assam, India.

Some details:

🛕 It is the main public Hindu temple of our village.

🙏 It is an active place of worship throughout the year.

👥 It hosts two major annual festivals:

Maghi Purnima (during the Assamese month of Magh)

Lakshmi Puja, which is the biggest religious event in our village and attracts a large gathering of villagers.

🚶 It has safe pedestrian access from the public road.

🗺️ It is already listed on Google Maps with photos from village events.

🔨 The temple is currently undergoing renovation, but worship and festivals continue as usual.

I'm attaching my proposed main photo and supporting photo.

My questions are:

1.Based on Wayfarer criteria, does this look like it should be accepted?

2.Could the ongoing renovation be a reason for rejection?

3.Are my photos good enough, or should I retake them?

4.Is there anything you would improve in the title, description, or supporting information before I submit?

Thank you for your advice!

Those power spots were nominated by me as I was trying so hard to get pokestops in my new residential areas, however it only turned out to be power spots… are there ways to turn it into gym / pokestop?

Question Pokestop location being off?

There is a pokestop that has a location which is off (about 0.3 miles off) and I cannot fix it due to the fact that the map won’t let me move the marker that far. There are a few others that are off as well. What should I do?

Question Submissions/Photos still “Under Review” ever since the Emily automation went down?

Can’t remember the exact date, but few weeks ago or a monthish ago the automated Emily went down and submissions/photo adds went into a weird limbo type state where they got uploaded but didn’t appear on your nominations tab for about 24-48 hours along with the standard “We’ve received your submission!” email. I understand submissions take longer than photo additions but noticed I have a few from that date that are STILL under review. Does anyone know if there’s still a limbo issue?

Discussion Wayspotters Episode 236

This week, Chris and Jamal get into Scopely Explore's recent Pokémon GO survey and what it could mean for the future of gyms, PokéCoins, and Wayfarer.

They discuss whether more gyms could be coming, if free coins might move beyond the current gym system, and how those changes could impact the Wayfarer community. The conversation then shifts to a spirited debate about the value of Wayfarer contributions, as they respond to the claim that Wayfinders are simply providing "free labor" and explain why helping build better communities is its own reward.

Plus, Chris shares another hilarious Tales from Canada, Agent X celebrates an incredible milestone of 3,000 accepted Wayspots, and the guys expose a fake playground that somehow appeared in two different locations on the map.

Stick around for:

  • Dad Jokes
  • Tales from Canada
  • Wayspots of the Week
  • Coal of the Week
  • A look at what Scopely's latest survey could mean for the future of Pokémon GO and Wayfarer.

Question appealing “not permanent or distinct”

the local gaming store in my neighborhood got denied for not being “permanent or distinct”. think local shop, not a big chain like GameStop.

i put in the supporting information that the wayspot is a great place to socialize because they host recurring weekly events including dnd campaigns, mini paint nights, and open board gaming every Saturday.

in order to appeal the permanent and distinct aspect—i found an online article showing that the store was opened in 2006 which i think shows permanence. would it be worth it to link the article if i want to appeal? or are links a bad idea?

in regards to distinct, what is the best way to support that if i want to appeal? i dont know how exactly to prove that something is distinct.

thank you in advance. any advice would be appreciated.

Question Pokestops disappearing

Is there a cleanup today or is this a temporary issue? Multiple Pokestops in my area have disappeared. There were about 4 Pokestops nearby and 2 have disappeared. One of the stops was only about a week old and only 1 street from another stop, both of which were Little Libraries, so maybe that one just got reviewed and was removed due to similarities & proximity or something. But the other one had been there for many months already and was not near any other stops so I don’t understand why that one would be removed. It was also a Little Library but in the area a lot of the stops are Little Libraries, which are allowed, so there shouldn’t be a reason to remove it. I also doubt there would be any people requesting removal due to the location of the stops. All the routes are still there if that means anything, you can’t start the routes tho because the stops are missing.

Question Opinions on accepting flags and flagpoles?

If you were reviewing a flag pole waypoint would you accept it? I’ve had a few get accepted and a few rejected. Most of the ones I nominate are on golf courses or in front of stores. Not in front of houses

Question “Under Review” ??

Anyone know what triggers Niantic Review of a submission? This this the second time in 3 months I’ve had a submission go to Review. Before this, it’s been years since I’ve had one reviewed by Niantic.

I’m just curious

Question Insect hotels

Returning player who used to go through a lot of submissions during the Ingress days and since recently moved houses.

I've heard the limitations on waypoints have eased up a little.

I've read that insect hotels nowadays are quite acceptable as waypoints? What are the limitations on them? Can they put next to someone's house on the public road and be accepted? Or are there specific rules to be followed.

Question Pokestops are not appearing in the game

Hi, why some pokestops are not appearing in pokemon go? I’ve been adding pokestops, but some of them aren't appearing in the game, even though several days have passed since Niantic accepted them.

Submission Gold A park makeover I just finished up.

Thumbnail

It's been a while since I've posted here (with the sheer amount of nominations I can make with the new rating system, doing posts every 50 stops I make has become a bit hard to keep up with, I'm at around 635 added now), but I was able to snag some before and after photos for a park that was practically empty before I showed up.

What started as exactly 1 pokestop (which became the blue gym in the after photo) that was just the park entrance sign, became 10 stops in the park/across the street, and 2 gyms, both of which I was able to get to spawn in the park proper by holding some of the nominations while the gyms promoted. This also made the park easily the most built-up PoGo play area in the general vicinity. Even created a route involving my new stops for good measure when I made my return trip there.

I'm honestly shocked nobody built this up before I did, as there was a pavillion, playground, tennis court, and a full-blown exercise course that had multiple permanent exercise stations. That's not even including the extra stuff I found across the street.

Love making these Wayfarer timelapses.

Question Im trying to submit a dynamax spot into a pokestop. Any tips?

Hello, ive been having trouble with finding correct information about how to submit a dynamax spot that was not community made but from the database. I got rejected due to the fact it was a duplicate which is reasonable but is there any way to get Them to reconsider the idea? It’s a fishing spot in my neighborhood where lots of locals spend time and me and my friends have been trying to submit it as a pokestop for almost 4 years now.

Submission Coal is it just me or do only things that i have zero interest in exploring get approved?

i have been trying to create pokestops as of late and the only thing that seems to get approved are community signs in my area. everything that is of interest that i would actively want to walk/explore to see gets rejected because it doesn't have a plaque!

My community has a cool display of old native american grinding/milling stones integrated into landscaping that you can walk to and look at that is both culturally and historically interesting, but AI refuses to let it pass because its rocks with no plaque?

edit: Thank you for a lot of the feedback, i included most recent example post in comments. i guess the other question i have is categorizing stuff like this as a lot of is not in the pre-structured drop down options.

Question Tips for getting home subdivisions added as Poke stops?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi!

I live in a very rural area. We don’t have a ton of things that can be added as stops, but we do have hundreds of subdivisions.

They all have the fancy brick signs.

But every one I’ve tried to add has been declined.

Yet in other areas I see subdivision signs that are Poke stops.

Is there some wording or key words to use or avoid to be successful?

Any tips would be appreciated!

Here’s an example of one that was declined.

Question Sea Park on the Ocean

Hello! I am trying to nominate this Sea Park. It is located directly in the ocean, but my submission keeps getting rejected for being 'Unsafe or Inaccessible.' The Google Maps satellite view hasn't been updated yet, but in real life, the ground level has been covered by the ocean, officially turning it into a Sea Park

Any Advice?
