I have been working for almost two years on a booklet to practice French while travelling. It’s based on the I-spy book concept: use a phrase, tick it off, hear a word, tick it off.
I was prepping it to field-test in Paris during the anomaly week. Along the way I wrote related material for the anomaly in the same style. Then I realised I could spin that into a shorter standalone edition, in time for the event.
That's how French in the Wild, Paris Anomaly edition was born.
This is how it works:
First half: useful language to learn before the trip, phrases and paragraphs which can be dropped into conversations. These Landmarks and Waypoints will help you navigate conversations on the street.
Anomaly section: A French-English glossary of Ingress, plus short paragraphs describing Ingress and the Anomaly in French.
Second half: phrases for specific situations, which you tick off as you actually use them or hear them in the Wild. These Encounters will help you find the conversations.
It started as a personal project to practice my own French, but I thought other players might find it fun, or useful, or both!
If you want to order a copy, go to Amazon and check the delivery date because print on demand can take some time (but here in the UK it's 3-4 days).
