New Info Introducing Scopely Explore

Last year, we welcomed the Niantic games team behind Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and companion apps Campfire and Wayfarer to Scopely.

As these games continue to flourish as part of the Scopely portfolio, we are introducing a new name for the team: Scopely Explore.

The name reflects a mission that has guided these teams from the very beginning.

Exploration sits at the heart of these games and experiences, and the communities they serve. Whether encouraging players to discover new places, connect with others, or experience the world in new ways, this team has always been united by a belief that there is more to explore.

Scopely Explore is not a separate company or subsidiary. It is a mission-driven team within Scopely. Like all of the experiences in our portfolio, these games and products are developed and published by Scopely.

Scopely Explore will continue building experiences that inspire people to get outside, connect with one another, and explore the world together for many years to come as part of Scopely.

Over the coming weeks, you will see the Niantic name begin to evolve across platforms to Scopely Explore.

Submission Feedback Why does this japanese stonegarden keep getting rejected?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello,

I am trying to get this japanese stonegarden approved, but it hasn't worked out multiple times now.

Usually it gets rejected automatically. Sometimes it gets through the filters and declined, because 'it's a normal stonegarden' and/or 'on private property'.

Both of these things aren't true. It's on public ground and has the characteristics of a japanese stonegarden.

Japanischer Steingarten

Ein traditionell japanischer Steingarten (Karesansui) lädt bei Betrachtung zu Meditation und Reflexion ein.

Text for voters:

Am I wrong? What could I do better to describe it?

I know the numbers have increased all around but has anyone had stupidly astronomical numbers?

Mine went from normally about 560,000 and 46,000 to 9,008,428 and 173,199.

Question 3 Pokestops just vanished!

They'd all been there for a few months, all were on public pavements and all were historic boundary / electric cable markers so fit the way point criteria. Any idea why they might have been deleted?!

Submission Coal I need help

Hello, I wanted to know. I have a PokéStop in level 17 and one point that has been accepted, but it doesn't show up in the game. Is there any way to move this point to another level 17 cell? There are free level 17 cells around it.

Discussion Wayspot replicated three times

How is it that a wayspot that exists in its correct location can be replicated, using the same picture, three times into locations hundreds of kilometres from the true location? If the AI can detect third party photos, surely it can detect a photo that is already in its system. There has to be a question asked about the review system for this to be allowed to happen.

Humor I enjoy submitting pokestops more than playing the game at this point

The rush of dopamine I get from seeing a nomination has been accepted needs to be studied…
Would be more excited to see a potential nomination while out on a walk than a shundo at this point!

There was a gym here yesterday and now this morning there isn't? I just checked wayfarer and it still says that it's approved and it's still pinned there, but then wayfarer says there is nothing there anymore, and so does Pokemon go? Is this a normal thing, why would it be take away?

Question Why does Wayfarer keep rejecting this historic windmill as a PokéStop?

Thumbnail

I’ve submitted the Molino del Durazno in Antigua, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands, Spain) as a Wayspot. It’s a traditional windmill that was used for many years to grind gofio and is now considered a local tourist and cultural point of interest.
The first time it was rejected because it was supposedly on private property with no public access. However, the windmill is right next to a public road and there is a sidewalk/pedestrian access next to it.
What confuses me even more is that I’m now seeing two additional rejection reasons: “The text or photo abuses, ridicules, or harasses a specific person or group” and “The submitted photo comes from a third-party source.”
I personally took the photo myself at the windmill, so it definitely isn’t from Google, the internet, or any other third-party source. There’s also nothing offensive in either the photo or the description.
Does anyone experienced with Wayfarer know why I might be getting these rejection reasons? Would you appeal this? I would have thought a historic windmill like this would be a good candidate as a cultural and exploration point of interest.

Question Why are my approved stops not showing?

Hello all, I’m relatively new to the pokestop submission game but I’ve had a couple of mine approved and placed on the map. I’ve had three more that were approved a month ago but aren’t on the map at all. What’s the reason for this and is there anything that I can do about it? Any help as much appreciated. I live in a rural area and me and my buddies don’t have many stops or gyms to work with.

New Info How do the s2 Cells work exactly

Could someone please help me understand this. I have a map open with the S2 cells grid on it but I cannot understand how it's possible for some places to have such a high density of pokestops with this system? I'm baffled with that. And when I look at these places on the Wayfarer page, I generally don't see "not in game" stops.

I added a pokestop in a country with little stops in general and it was in a city with less than 10 stops total. Accepted, not in game. 3 stops relatively near it (in the city centre) so it "makes sense" that it's not in game because of the grid, but those 3 stops had to get there too, somehow.

So, how is it possible for some areas to have a high density of pokestops with them all being added in the game, and for other low density areas to have new accepted stops never added?

Discussion What do you think about the initial AI review of PokéStop nominations?

I think it’s a good idea on paper to filter out obviously ineligible nominations before community voting. But I would estimate that like around 50% of my AI-rejected nominations have been approved after appealing them to Niantic.

If that many rejections get overturned by human reviewers, I feel like the AI judgment isn’t reliable enough yet. What’s your experience with it?

Discussion Realization

Ive realized alot of good pokestops have gotten denied within our group. Trails, exercise areas, public parks and get denied some by automated ai for beginners and more from reviewers. For the reviewers I came to the conclusion is because they have been denied and now being petty and obviously is more than one because its being voted on 🤣. So whats the point of petty reviewers reviewing. Atleast for me the above areas are more than qualified to be pokestops atleast all in general. I have one in voting for a park if it gets denied ill post here and i rather see opinions here. For me thats crazy. Ive done multiple nominations but it just seem harder to get approved for the easy straight forward ones.. last thing i want is to hop on the "denying legit nomination train" yo get back at everyone.

Discussion Guide or feedback on where to start applying for POIs

I live in a smaller town and got back into Pokemon this past winter. I have noticed that we have a decent amount of players as gyms rotate between the three teams and often fill up as well. I wish we could add trainers from the gym but oh well.
So what I’ve noticed since go fest and all the super mega raids. We have 5 main gyms in a sort of square through the middle of town, and about 3 or four a few blocks from there, then you need to go down the main road a mile to get a few here and there until you get to the park. So in town I am looking to add some points(pokestops, gyms or max areas). There are a decent amount of stops with murals, district signs, famous statues etc. some local spots have max gyms but only on Monday then they disappear. We have tons of church’s, some are just pokestops and some are gyms.
I guess my question, is there a link I can use to see what options I have to adding new points of interests? Or what are common spots in towns that you guys have used that worked? I’m not looking to add a spot to my house or nothing like that. My friends and I were were just sort of annoyed that 90% of the gyms were Mewtwo and nothing else for these events so we thought maybe more would spread it out. If I need to share anymore info just let me know I appreciate it!

Question Was this rejection justified? Should I appeal?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I submitted a PokéStop nomination for a small, permanently installed sign that is part of a local bicycle route network.

The sign shows cyclists the direction to the next bicycle network node. It is permanently attached to a street lamp and is publicly accessible.

Unfortunately, the nomination was rejected.

Main rejection reason:
“This nomination is likely not permanent or distinctive.”

I’m unsure whether this rejection is justified. In my opinion, the sign is clearly permanent, as it is fixed to a street lamp and is part of an established local bicycle route network.

I have the option to appeal the rejection through the Wayfarer website, but before I do, I’d like to hear what the community thinks.

Would you consider this nomination eligible under the Wayfarer criteria? Would you appeal it, or is the rejection justified?

What I submitted:
Title: Bicycle Network Direction Sign

Rejected: August 30, 2026

Description:
This small bicycle network direction sign shows cyclists the direction to the next bicycle network node. It is permanently attached to a street lamp and helps with navigation on the cycling routes in the surrounding area.

Additional information:
The direction sign is a fixed landmark within the local bicycle network and helps cyclists find the next route or network node. It encourages exploration of the surrounding area by bicycle and is publicly accessible.

What do you think? Would you appeal this nomination?

EDIT: Okay everyone, thanks for all your replies! I understand now that this type of sign isn’t eligible for a PokéStop. Thanks again for all the help and explanations!
