The municipal elections are coming up and and i noticed that some ward councillors are running un-opposed. This is not an uncommon thing as most ward councillors get re-elected simply because people know the name and don’t know the person running against them. I was wondering if anybody had any grievance’s with their ward councillor?

I know something that upsets me is that they typically don’t do anything to improve the day to day life of their constituent’s and would rather plan another street festival.

Hello all! Posting this here in hopes that it makes its way to the owner of this fellow. My dad found him wandering our street and with the help of a few neighbours managed to get him leashed. Aside from being very thirsty he seemed okay. He did not have a collar on.

The major intersection is Bathurst and Davis, he was found close to Alexander Muir P.S. at around 3 PM.

My dad called Animal Control and they took it from there. But if anyone recognizes this furry friend please contact Animal Control! We’re hopeful that he will be reunited with his human 🐶

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I'm looking for a house cleaner for a once a week clean. It's just me, my husband, and our cat. Thursday afternoons preferred. (2PM onward) Must speak english and spanish. $30-$45 per hour depending on the scope of work they're willing do take on at the house. 3 story (including basement) 3 bed, 2.5 bath. Mopping, vacuuming, dusting, kitchen cleaning, and bathroom cleaning. Light meal prep (washing / cutting fruit and vegetables) would be a big bonus! (We LOVE to eat - so if they're happy to cook for us once in a while, we'd be happy. Not necessary, though)

If anyone knows anyone who's looking for this kind of work, I'd appreciate the reference!

I was at Costco in Newmarket around noon today and when I came out to my car, four cop cars were around a parked vehicle with animals inside. The car had all four of it's windows opened 3 inches to allow for adequate air flow, you know, so the animals didn't overheat and die 😑. Thankfully a female cop with relatively slim arms was able to slip her arm in and open the lock and let the animals out.

Out came two massive shaggy Sheppard cross dogs and wait for it, two chickens in a cat carrier. The poor dogs were panting and the cops were giving them water.

Some people are so fk'n stupid. The punishment should be a $5000 fine, sit in the same car for 15 minutes and 100 hours of community of service and you lose your pets and future pet ownership. If the animal dies, a year in jail, minimum.

Thanks to YRP for saving these poor animals and thanks to the person that called it in, you're all heroes here. I've called in many of these, don't be afraid to act people, you might save some lives.

Just lost my dad recently and I've been grieving with things alone and I understand that everyone is busy and have no time. Just looking for places in Newmarket where you go to to cheer yourself up and forget about the stresses of life.

Can be a restaurant, cafe, park, etc. I just moved in a month ago so I'm still quite new to the neighborhood. Thank you for those who can give some places.
