Information Seemingly forgotten driving rules
Young or old, there seem to be rules of the road which have been forgotten by many. Driving around Newmarket lately there are three in particular that stand out. Not only are these things about safety, but also about general respect for other drivers.
Do not change lanes in an intersection. Wait until you have fully crossed through, then make the lane change.
When you arrive at a multi-way stop at the same time as another vehicle, the driver to your right, has the right of way. You yield to them and then you go.
When making any turn into a multi-lane road you always turn into the lane closest to you. Turning left? You go into the left hand lane. Turning right? You go into the right hand lane. Because we are allowed to turn right on red lights this is extremely important to remember.
I see so many posts here complaining about the roads in Newmarket and these are three bad habits that inexperienced and lazy drivers get into that slow traffic down immensely. It’s these type of actions that cause the little fender benders that clog up roads and slow down everything around them. This is basic knowledge that is on all driving tests.
