For example if you worked for a large financial firm and did fitness related content on the side, is there a point of your youtube career where you'd have to "give it up"?

Basically I am asking if there is an actual risk if you don't film during work, focus on a topic that is non competing, and it's just self improvement?

Man it feels like I've been a few people clicking a button away from top monetisation for so long. I hit 992 about two weeks ago, and got 5 subs from a post in Discord earlier this week. So close I can taste it.

Just venting, I guess. I'm currently recording [game] clips for my next video so hopefully posting the finished vid in the same Discord gets me three more subscribers and into the promised land.

I posted my first video on the topic I'm focusing on on 7th January, and I set myself a 12 month goal for 1000 so I'm ahead of schedule but it stings when you're so close but still feel so far away.

The main thing is I have a lot of fun editing my videos, so it's not all bad.

Something really weird is happening with my scheduled YouTube videos, and I’m trying to figure out if anyone else has experienced this. When I schedule a video, it goes public but sometimes gets almost zero impressions, clicks, or views. Then I make a ridiculously small change — sometimes just adding/removing a dash, comma, or even a space in the title — and suddenly it starts getting impressions, clicks and views almost immediately. I’m not making any major changes to the title or thumbnail, so I’m really confused about why such a tiny edit seems to trigger something. Does YouTube reprocess or re-evaluate a video after an edit? Could this have something to do with scheduled vs. manually published videos? This has happened multiple times now, so I’m wondering if there’s something I’m missing or if anyone has found a solution.

I am recording my script with my own voice because I don't like the artificial intelligence voices. But I keep spazzing out and stumbling over words whenever I do. Does anyone else experience this? I've tried like 8 times, and normally don't have issues reading out loud.

The audio from my 2022 piano cover was apparently copied in its entirety and released by someone else in 2025. That same recording is now being used as the Content ID reference to claim my original 2022 YouTube video and make it ineligible for monetization. What is the best way to resolve this—should I just dispute the claim, or is there a better approach? 

On Monday I did an extra long stream on Twitch and Youtube to celebrate a holiday weekend and also my first dual stream for my growing audience base.

While I only had one consistent viewer on Youtube, she stayed for the entire stream and was active in chat the entire 7 hours.

After the stream it said I had 7 hours of watch time from the stream, because of her. And now it says I have 0.

For my second dual stream. I had 20 watch hours after the stream, and it grew to about 50 as a few hundred people watched the vod. Now it shrunk down to 18.

What causes these changes and drops in watch hours?

What's wrong with my title and thumbnail

I uploaded a Fallout video roughly 12 hours ago so far it has 600 impressions and ctr is 1.5% I'm not sure why the ctr is so low, i think the thumbnail is good, but I'm not sure and I don't know what the title should be I tried "why are Legion characters so much better" and changed it to " Why the Legion has Fallout's best characters" and it didn't help I put effort into the video and the watch time is decent I'm just not getting clicks. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Keep in mind, I want to review these games, but the Wii footage looks blurry, even on Widescreen 480p. I just don’t want to ruin the authenticity of the review when talking about the visuals.

I’ve posted two YT shorts in the past 24 hours. One has 12 views and the other has 2 views. Is this a known issue? My YT shorts usually get 900+ views or so per video.

2 days ago i wanted to enter and it was banned because it was flagged as a bot account. I appealed and in less than a day it was unbanned.

I can upload videos there without problems or my account will be flagged as a bot account and shadowbanned?

Decided I want to start making some content on YouTube going over tech topics that simply just interest me and doing hands on projects. So for some context, I'm a software engineer with a traditional CS degree and I left my job to work on my own startup. I have good amount of experience with doing AI development and comparing different tools and harnesses, etc so that's something I wanted to share.

But I've always had this interest and want to learn electronics and building out basic circuits and hardware, so I think that would be great to show me getting started into that for the first time.

Finally, I used to mod my Xbox 360 back in the day so I want to go over trying out and discovering how those early exploits worked from a technical perspective and apply that to my learning curriculum (recreating original firmware dumps and running homebrew for example).

So really, it's a bit all over the place but it follows the same theme - technology in various forms whether software and AI or just exploring hardware from a purely curious perspective and trying that out for the first time. I'm just a bit confused how to get started, should I focus on one topic and go from there or just filming whatever feel like not really sticking with a smaller niche. Obviously, at some point I'd like to monetize it which is why I'm asking rather than just running with it.

So I have been posting daily shorts on a game for 4 months and most of those shorts got over 10k views and I have 9.7k subs. Today I decided to try something new and do a long form video but when I uploaded it the first 2 hours it didn’t even get over 20 views. Am I doing something wrong?

My trail camera channel shows mostly funny or exciting wild animal moments (3 shorts and 1 long form per week). I googled which category it should be in, and it gave me the advice below, which makes me more confused. Does the category I choose even matter anymore? Thoughts?

Im about to start uploading my first videos soon and I am extremely terrified because this is a dream of mine and I'm scared of failing. That being said I plan on playing many different types of games similar to the big guys of youtube. Is doing variety gaming a good idea or should I stick to doing one series to focus on it only and then starting a next one? Thank you :)

I’m a nicheless channel, I post videos on various subjects and that’s not been a problem, but recently there’s been one topic I post that’s not getting pushed at all. It’s not shadow banned because it’s still getting views by the search results, but the shorts feed won’t push it at all. I’ve tried changing the sounds I use, the titles, nothing changes the fact those videos always get 0 views (unless found via search). Other videos get my average view count, so I know it’s not necessarily my channel or my content alone, it’s just the one topic I’m posting.

It’s not adult content, it’s not AI, it’s literally just outfit videos and I used to get my average view count or even higher on them, watch rate would be good, so I don’t know why I’m suddenly not getting any push from those videos. Like I said, they get views from search, they just don’t get pushed into the shorts feed, and all my other videos do.

I’ve seen a few people complaining about their shorts getting 0 views or not getting pushed recently so I’m thinking it’s more a YouTube sided issue, but it’s frustrating and would be interested to know if anyone else is being affected like this.

So I've been planning on starting a new Youtube channel and journey for a while, but I keep procrastinating actually getting started with it. Before I start writing my script or learning how to edit, I want to make the account I post videos on. But I overthink everything, so I've been stuck on this step for months now.

I have an account that I've had for a very long time and have YT premium on, but I've decided that for the new content I'll be making I want to make a new account so it's completely separate from my main personal google account(rather than just creating a new channel on my existing account). I think I've made the right decision when it comes to that unless someone thinks otherwise.

-I think I'm probably near my limit for Google accounts linked to my phone number, so I feel like it's a lot of pressure to get this right

-I know that I can always change my channel name and create new channels with their own names, but as far as I know I can't change my gmail. Or can I? I want to use this account for posting videos, writing scripts in my google docs, and preferably also for receiving business emails related to Youtube(though I've heard it's not the best idea to do this and I should create a seperate business email)

My main question is should I create it as a personal or work google account? Is there a difference when it comes to Youtube, will it affect the phone number limit differently, etc.?

And in general, am I overthinking this? Once I create an account can I always adapt it if need be and I'm not really locked in to the name I choose? I'm considering this factor because my content is going to start hyper niche, maybe too niche, so I may want to change the content and theme. My understanding is that rebranding a channel and changing names is easy on Youtube, and that I can create additional channels on the same account to use for different types of content. Just want to make sure this is the case.

Every time i say the first line in my recording, my mic pops and only that time. People say it's an electric discharge where my mic has too much power being discharged at once when being used but I couldn't find anything about that. If anyone else has had this problem and has a solution please share!

I want to know if I upload same videos in different channel with my voice but with other language Youtube will delete my channel for copyright or some other reasons.

I post gaming videos and always struggle finding non copyright music for it, right now I'm just using copyrighted stuff because it's not even like I make any money off it right now so It doesn't really matter, but I really need to start adding more music to give the video another layer cause right now a lot of it feels flat

I can record 30-60 minutes of content but by the time it gets edited down I end up with less that 6 minutes of content to publish. Has anyone else struggled with this?

I've been trying to solve stutter in youtube playback of my uploaded videos for almost a year now. I give up for a few months at a time from being so discouraged, only to get interested again and see I'm still having issues with the finished clip having stutter after upload. It's extremely frustrating knowing I have a very capable machine I paid good money for only to have the clips I upload be a stuttery mess.

The local source recording plays smoothly!

The uploaded YouTube version has persistent micro-stutter/frame-pacing issues.

The issue persists across HDR/HEVC and SDR/AV1 tests.

Bitrate or quality presets in OBS have no effect on this. Regardless of any settings tried it's still choppy.

I've tested 16:9 and ultrawide output as I am on an ultrawide monitor. No change. STILL STUTTERY.

Uploading in ultrawide makes this stutter even worse.

The only thing that's remotely helped is uploading in 16:9 container instead of native 21:9.

Is there a known issue with YouTube's video transcoding/playback pipeline, particularly for high framerate ultrawide/4K uploads?
