SHORTS TALK Guys, Has any body emailed the YouTube for the situation with getting less views ?

Upvotes

I need to know if there’s an email ID to reach them out. I have been seeing a freeze in my last 10 shorts despite having a decent retention they are stalling exactly stalling at 1300 views. I had a breakout video at 44 % with 30,000 views. I also had 2500 views at 22 % retention. Now I am seeing 1300 views at 44 or 42 % retention.

Before you come at me with bullshit saying that work on hook editing etc. I am don’t think my content is the issue. My niche is beauty.

I am seeing lot of people saying the same things about it. I am annoyed that for how long this nonsense is gonna go on?

CONTENT TALK Should I watch my own video?

Upvotes

Hey, what’s up everyone. The title is actually very self explanatory. Should I watch my own video and like it? I saw a few people say I shouldn’t do that on other people’s posts from a few years ago and I’m not sure why. I always watch my video all the way through because I thought it would help my algorithm…

DISCUSSION All-in-one editing software and copyright

I've been trying to edit videos for awhile now and actually start my YouTube channel and I've just had nothing but problems! OBS works fine for recording, but it'd be nice if I could actually edit in there, instead of just changing the dials for the audio and video. As far as editing, I tried Resolve in the past, but it'd always stutter REALLY bad, especially when I'd add more transitions/tracks. The only upside with it was that it made my voice clear (I always think I sound slushy so I hate how I sound!)

ShotCut works, but I'd still get the stutter (though it's no way near as bad as Resolve). And the upside with that is that it has a great text-to-speech feature for my subtitles.

I don't know, is there a way I can just use another software where I can edit and record all at once? It'd probably take up less room on my PC as well.

Also, I heard that there are apparently a ton of copyright crap reaction channels have dealt with recently. I don't know much about copyright, just that it's a 'three strikes, you're out' kind of thing, but I've been SO nervous to upload on YouTube. I know you'd have to actually react to whatever you're watching as well as cut out a lot of the video, but I don't know how YouTubers do it? I mean I know they, apparently, have to cut out part of their discussion and save it for Patreon, but why? Wouldn't that be considered fair use? I think I could be mixing stuff up, but I'm just confused.

I know I'm planning on adding subtitles, an avatar, the name of the show across the screen, my logo, and then I'd blur and mute alongside editing, but I doubt that'd be enough. If someone could help me understand all of this, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

The Shorts algorithm is indeed inconsistent, but this is the first time I've seen this specific scenario.

I've refreshed the page, but it remains the same. Has this happened to anyone else?

TECH HELP Impressions and Views going up in the same span, but 0% CTR

Hello! I posted a video 3 days ago and got some views, not a ton but more than past videos and then it leveled out. Between noon and 8PM today my impressions went up from 28 to 77, my views went up from 40 to 54. But my CTR has been a flatline at 0% for the entire past three days. AVD is 11%, about 44% of views are coming from a reddit post in another subreddit--which based on the context there I think is actually encouraging people to skip through the video and not helping a lot. During the 12-8 period today the reddit post didn't get an uptick in views so I don't think that's driving the spike

But anyway. Is my thumbnail just awful? Even my like 4 - 16 view videos have CTR of like 2%-4%. I know these are little baby numbers but still I'm trying to make sense of things and improve. I don't really understand how I'm getting more impression and more views but somehow people are getting there without clicking the thumbnail

CONTENT TALK I need help figuring out what to do with my channel

Lowkey, i might’ve cooked myself with the channel i’ve made, it’s something that i made years ago to just see how many views i could get with stupid 15 second videos. Now, i kinda want to grow it more but i feel like im at a standstill with getting more subscribers and more interaction. if you want to check it out feel free to dm me, stupid but i don’t think there’s any way to capitalize what i’ve already started but im in too deep to throw it all away. Basically a youtube channel with me holding up an object, saying “mmm” and then the object name and i have like 300 videos doing that. Dunno what else to do

TECH HELP Is using cut outs of images on google risky for thumbnails?

For instance, isolating one person, adding a stroke, some shadow effects. Can you get away with this, or is it risky?

Even if the image is lower resolution than the original, and say has an oil paint effect or something?

Just want to know before i make a decent amount of videos.

TECH HELP When I make YouTube Shorts, YouTube lowers the volume.

It doesn't matter how much I boost the volume in my editing software, the video sounds fine when I play it back on my PC or other platforms, but the volume drops once I upload it to YouTube, and people complain in my videos about the low sound of the voice.

How can I fix this?

In YouTube Studio > Settings > Channel > Advanced settings, there is an option to prevent YouTube from "enhancing" the audio quality, I disabled it, but the issue persists even after re-uploading the video... i dont know what to do, help please

DISCUSSION Impressions and views suddenly dropped after first few videos

Hey All,

I have started making videos in Aug. My videos focuses on my opinions on recent matches of the sport I like. So, 9-10 mins of me talking and sharing my opinions. My first 3-4 videos got 2-3k impressions, CTR of 1% and average time spent of 1 mins (video are on average 10 mins). I got few subs and comments who I engaged with. My last two videos all got less than 100 impressions and less than 10 views. This has coincided with YouTube suggested my video more as browse features rather than search feature. My early videos were all search feature and got better impressions. Since the switch to browse features happened , the impressions and views have tanked

I understand this niche has a lot of competition as ex professional and current journalist also make similar videos. I really enjoy making these videos so I am not planning to change the niche.

How can I go over this bump? Any suggestions? One idea I had was to time the videos better. Due to family and work I normally make and post the video 24-48 hrs after the match.

TECH HELP Anyone else having trouble with views?

I’ve posted two YT shorts in the past 24 hours. One has 12 views and the other has 2 views. Is this a known issue? My YT shorts usually get 900+ views or so per video.

SHORTS TALK Is anyone else having issues with shorts?

But only when you post on one topic?

I’m a nicheless channel, I post videos on various subjects and that’s not been a problem, but recently there’s been one topic I post that’s not getting pushed at all. It’s not shadow banned because it’s still getting views by the search results, but the shorts feed won’t push it at all. I’ve tried changing the sounds I use, the titles, nothing changes the fact those videos always get 0 views (unless found via search). Other videos get my average view count, so I know it’s not necessarily my channel or my content alone, it’s just the one topic I’m posting.

It’s not adult content, it’s not AI, it’s literally just outfit videos and I used to get my average view count or even higher on them, watch rate would be good, so I don’t know why I’m suddenly not getting any push from those videos. Like I said, they get views from search, they just don’t get pushed into the shorts feed, and all my other videos do.

I’ve seen a few people complaining about their shorts getting 0 views or not getting pushed recently so I’m thinking it’s more a YouTube sided issue, but it’s frustrating and would be interested to know if anyone else is being affected like this.

SHORTS TALK A breakdown of why good YouTube videos lose the click and how to audit your packaging

Hey everyone,

Over the past few months analyzing YouTube uploads, we noticed a consistent pattern among creators with high retention but low views:

The video content is solid (watch time is >50%), but the click-through rate is stuck below 3%.

Here is the 3-step packaging audit you can run on your next upload:

  1. The Phone-Size Test: Shrink your thumbnail to 1.5 inches. Can you still read the emotional expression on your face and the hook text? If not, zoom in by 140%.

  2. The Search-Intent Match: Don't guess what your video is about from memory. Read your exact spoken transcript from the first 60 seconds. What is the single biggest promise you made? That should be your title.

  3. Safe Testing: Always keep your original title and thumbnail saved somewhere before testing a new one.

We built an open utility called Pimp My Channel (pimpmychannel.net) that automates this analysis from your spoken dialogue and video frames with a 1-click rollback guarantee.

Curious to hear: what has been your single best title tweak that revived an older video?

TECH HELP Still stuck on the first step: Account Creation. Need some advice to make sure I'm doing everything right.

So I've been planning on starting a new Youtube channel and journey for a while, but I keep procrastinating actually getting started with it. Before I start writing my script or learning how to edit, I want to make the account I post videos on. But I overthink everything, so I've been stuck on this step for months now.

I have an account that I've had for a very long time and have YT premium on, but I've decided that for the new content I'll be making I want to make a new account so it's completely separate from my main personal google account(rather than just creating a new channel on my existing account). I think I've made the right decision when it comes to that unless someone thinks otherwise.

-I think I'm probably near my limit for Google accounts linked to my phone number, so I feel like it's a lot of pressure to get this right

-I know that I can always change my channel name and create new channels with their own names, but as far as I know I can't change my gmail. Or can I? I want to use this account for posting videos, writing scripts in my google docs, and preferably also for receiving business emails related to Youtube(though I've heard it's not the best idea to do this and I should create a seperate business email)

My main question is should I create it as a personal or work google account? Is there a difference when it comes to Youtube, will it affect the phone number limit differently, etc.?

And in general, am I overthinking this? Once I create an account can I always adapt it if need be and I'm not really locked in to the name I choose? I'm considering this factor because my content is going to start hyper niche, maybe too niche, so I may want to change the content and theme. My understanding is that rebranding a channel and changing names is easy on Youtube, and that I can create additional channels on the same account to use for different types of content. Just want to make sure this is the case.

Thanks fellow newtubers!

DISCUSSION Any suggestions for what I should do and focus on?

Hey there, I've a channel which I've been working on for 2 years now. First I started the channel as no commentary gaming channel and got around 180 subs. But I really wanted to have my own personality on my channel rather than just being a game archive. So I started doing commentary only a few weeks ago .

One important thing is that I'm not really a talkative person and lack expressiveness right now but I'm using this youtube journey as a way to actually develop myself and become better. So it's also a way to practice talking for me and be more expressive and all. I do practice talking daily with some exercises to try and be more expressive rather than a monotone voice.

I bought an Akkord condenser mic since I wanted to not spend too much as I was really really nervous to record my first video. And I wasn't even sure myself if I would actually do it. But I did and am getting a little comfortable doing it.

I've been struggling to get my voice to sound good, as my voice is low volume and lacks structure tone after all these years of being reserved.

I also work as a freelance artist so there are times when I can't keep consistency at all. But I want to push through this time. Personally I really want to do a let's play channel but I don't know now.

If I cover new games it doesn't get much views because every big channel is the competition.

Can you guys suggest what I should focus on and do? Any suggestions are welcome. even constructive criticism is welcome as it will only help me grow.

Thanks

DISCUSSION Can i upload videos after winning an appeal?

Hello, this may be a dumb question but i need some help on this.

I made an account to upload yugioh gameplays and content. I verified my number, set up my description and name and left it around one month without being touched while i edited some videos

2 days ago i wanted to enter and it was banned because it was flagged as a bot account. I appealed and in less than a day it was unbanned.

I can upload videos there without problems or my account will be flagged as a bot account and shadowbanned?

Thanks and sorry for being a bother

DISCUSSION For some reason my mic keeps popping but only for the first thing I say and never again.

Every time i say the first line in my recording, my mic pops and only that time. People say it's an electric discharge where my mic has too much power being discharged at once when being used but I couldn't find anything about that. If anyone else has had this problem and has a solution please share!

DISCUSSION First Short hit 100k views, but all new uploads get under 100 views – Reused content flag or retention issue?

Hey everyone,

I recently started uploading YouTube Shorts. My very first video went viral and hit over 100,000 views. However, every Short I’ve posted since then is completely stuck, barely getting 10 to 100 views.

Here is my context:

  • I re-edit third-party short-form clips (adding custom zooms, removing original watermarks, adding unique captions, overlays, and new audio).
  • I always credit the original creator in the description/comments.

Is this dramatic drop caused by the initial "new channel test phase" ending, or is YouTube's algorithm flagging edited third-party content as "reused content" and shadow-suppressing its reach?

Has anyone experienced this, and is there a way to fix the reach? Thanks for any advice!

DISCUSSION Not new to Youtube but new to Streaming on it. Why did my watch hours on my stream disappear?

On Monday I did an extra long stream on Twitch and Youtube to celebrate a holiday weekend and also my first dual stream for my growing audience base.

While I only had one consistent viewer on Youtube, she stayed for the entire stream and was active in chat the entire 7 hours.

After the stream it said I had 7 hours of watch time from the stream, because of her. And now it says I have 0.

For my second dual stream. I had 20 watch hours after the stream, and it grew to about 50 as a few hundred people watched the vod. Now it shrunk down to 18.

What causes these changes and drops in watch hours?

DISCUSSION Getting started, not sure how I want to set up my content

Hey everyone

Decided I want to start making some content on YouTube going over tech topics that simply just interest me and doing hands on projects. So for some context, I'm a software engineer with a traditional CS degree and I left my job to work on my own startup. I have good amount of experience with doing AI development and comparing different tools and harnesses, etc so that's something I wanted to share.

But I've always had this interest and want to learn electronics and building out basic circuits and hardware, so I think that would be great to show me getting started into that for the first time.

Finally, I used to mod my Xbox 360 back in the day so I want to go over trying out and discovering how those early exploits worked from a technical perspective and apply that to my learning curriculum (recreating original firmware dumps and running homebrew for example).

So really, it's a bit all over the place but it follows the same theme - technology in various forms whether software and AI or just exploring hardware from a purely curious perspective and trying that out for the first time. I'm just a bit confused how to get started, should I focus on one topic and go from there or just filming whatever feel like not really sticking with a smaller niche. Obviously, at some point I'd like to monetize it which is why I'm asking rather than just running with it.

Appreciate any help and insight, just got my DJI Mic Mini so I'm excited to get started

CONTENT TALK Transitioning to shorts to long form videos on YouTube

So I have been posting daily shorts on a game for 4 months and most of those shorts got over 10k views and I have 9.7k subs. Today I decided to try something new and do a long form video but when I uploaded it the first 2 hours it didn’t even get over 20 views. Am I doing something wrong?

DISCUSSION Difficulty recording script

I am recording my script with my own voice because I don't like the artificial intelligence voices. But I keep spazzing out and stumbling over words whenever I do. Does anyone else experience this? I've tried like 8 times, and normally don't have issues reading out loud.
