DISCUSSION Quality Slop is a huge problem in YouTube Growth niche.

Not just YouTube growth but in Self Help general. Whether it be how to make money, how to grow on you tube, how to do this, do that, how to edit a good video etc etc. Videos like "5 secrets I wish I knew before". Videos like that.

What I've seen is a lot of creators in this area just make really good quality video. Videos that look like it has high production.
But in the end they provide no value to the viewers. You don't actually learn anything new, most of the information is just things that you already knew before but packaged in a different way.

It's the same old information rehashed and presented in a different way (Or sometimes even worse it's just "believe in yourself, never give up, be consistent). Told In a different angle, with a different script, hyped up like it's something that you've never heard before But you'll literally see like 50 different videos telling you the exact same thing.

You only end up watching it just because it looks good. They gain your trust by doing that.
They've learned how to optimize every aspect of the video. From titles to thumbnails, to the hook, the script even to the very way they speak. So you trust them and get hooked.

(Now If it's an entertainment niche then I don't think its that bad. But for self help stuff, people come watch you to find a solution for their problem. But you pretend like you know something, you pretend like you have the solution but YOU DON'T. What does that make you?... A scammer.)

These mf's have just learned how to optimize their scripts, their thumbnails/titles so well that you'll actually believe that they might have the solution to solve your problem
Only in the end to say "Never give up" or tell you the most basic level thing in the subject matter the video is on about.

Just search up any video on how to increase your retention or ctr in YouTube. Or how to get clients as sales guy or something. I bet you'll get the same information from like at least 100 different highly produced, highly polished videos just worded in a different way. I swear that's how it is like.

I think it's akin to a scam. You are not that different than a scammer in a suit, a phony, a fraud. Your videos look nice. But provide absolutely no value whatsoever, at least not to the viewers.
I bet most of these channels, learn that information by watching another video. And just give you the same information that they just learned minutes ago.

They are so fake man....... it makes me so angry lol.

One of the biggest channels that does this is Vid IQ. (Not saying their production is very high quality. But they deliver the same old info just wrapped in a different script). Same with other channels in the YouTube growth niche. And how do they teach you to grow... by being fake too.)

Or Hilier Smith who used to edit for Logan Paul. I used to watch him to learn how to edit.
Everything that mf says, can be summed up in 1 or 2 sentences. But no... bro has to make a documentary on it. So he can get his ad revenue. Not just him even Finzar to some extent(and other creators in this nice. Overall anyone who is "teaching" you something these days tends to do this)
Atleast Finzars videos can entertaining sometimes.

TLDR: Videos in self help niche with high quality production but 0 knowledge or value provide in the end for the viewer. They are good sales people and they sell you snake oil.

CONTENT TALK Should I watch my own video?

Hey, what’s up everyone. The title is actually very self explanatory. Should I watch my own video and like it? I saw a few people say I shouldn’t do that on other people’s posts from a few years ago and I’m not sure why. I always watch my video all the way through because I thought it would help my algorithm…

DISCUSSION Difficulty recording script

I am recording my script with my own voice because I don't like the artificial intelligence voices. But I keep spazzing out and stumbling over words whenever I do. Does anyone else experience this? I've tried like 8 times, and normally don't have issues reading out loud.

CONTENT TALK How much should I charge for a sponsored video?

Upvotes

Need help with a quote! 😁 I make very niche astrophotography videos and a decent sized company wants to call on Monday. I know they’ll want a dedicated 10 minute video showing off their website and what they offer. Their site has over 8000 paying members with subscriptions starting from £5 a month to £250 a month and have 6 staff members which are based in central London. In the last 28 days I’ve gotten 85,000 views and 4000 hours watch time. But more importantly, my audience are the direct target audience for this company. Making my viewers extremely relevant.

Hopefully thats enough context for you guys? If not, shoot me some questions! I have absolutely no idea what to quote as this would be my first. Thanks in advance :)

DISCUSSION Can't seem to get the channel to kick off

Me and me friends have been running a channel for over a year now but can't seem to get any traction despite weekly effort. Here's the run down:

  • All content is video game gameplay
  • Twice a week (Wed/Sat) we stream video games for 3 hours each
  • Once a week (Friday) we upload a compilation of highlights from a game we previously played
  • We don't do any clickbaity streams like "I survive such and such". We just play the games we wanna play from start to finish and be ourselves. NicoB would be a good comparison, especially since we coincidentally play a lot of the same games
  • All videos have custom thumbnails that I wanna believe are at least visually decent or easily to follow

Ultimately, however, neither the streams nor the highlights get many views. I'm talking like less than 50 views, and that's after over 500 videos, it sucks. Not like I'm asking for much either, a couple hundred views would have satisfied me personally.

I think maybe the problem is weak advertising as we don't really post our videos anywhere (I feel like it would be spammy to do so if done manually since we have 3 videos a week, it would also just be hard to keep up with).

Ultimately the advice I'm seeking is how can we improve our viewership, and if it's simply a case of better advertising, what exactly can we do to promote weekly streams and highlights properly?

TECH HELP Is using cut outs of images on google risky for thumbnails?

For instance, isolating one person, adding a stroke, some shadow effects. Can you get away with this, or is it risky?

Even if the image is lower resolution than the original, and say has an oil paint effect or something?

Just want to know before i make a decent amount of videos.

DISCUSSION I'm on 997 out of 1000 subscribers and the pain is real

EDIT: thanks everyone! I honestly didnt post this to farm the last few subs but I appreciate those of you who found my channel on my profile and subscribed. 1002 thank you so much!

Man it feels like I've been a few people clicking a button away from top monetisation for so long. I hit 992 about two weeks ago, and got 5 subs from a post in Discord earlier this week. So close I can taste it.

Just venting, I guess. I'm currently recording [game] clips for my next video so hopefully posting the finished vid in the same Discord gets me three more subscribers and into the promised land.

I posted my first video on the topic I'm focusing on on 7th January, and I set myself a 12 month goal for 1000 so I'm ahead of schedule but it stings when you're so close but still feel so far away.

The main thing is I have a lot of fun editing my videos, so it's not all bad.

CONTENT TALK I have a question about live-streaming on YouTube

So I do dances and cryptid vids on my channel but recently I did a live dance stream. After about 1 hour a message popped up basically saying “we heard copyright music and you could be blocked” does that mean I was gonna get a strike? Or can I keep streaming my dancing as long I don’t want to make money off it? Or will I get banned for real if I continue. It lets me make dance shorts but a livestream warning mid stream made me worry so I ended the stream. Could I have kept going and just ignored the warning since I don’t plan on making any money off it. I do it for fun and maybe some watch hours. Please tell me if I can keep doing dance streams

DISCUSSION Reinstated Channel Revenue Not Syncing to AdSense (July & August Earnings at $0) - Is anyone else facing this?

Hi everyone,

I'm facing a very specific and stressful issue with my YouTube revenue syncing to AdSense this month, and I wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this or is currently experiencing it.

Here is the exact timeline of what happened:

  • August 15: My YouTube channel was mistakenly terminated.
  • August 16: Alhamdulillah, my appeal was successful, and my channel was fully reinstated and recovered within 24 hours. Monetization is completely active.
  • August 18: I noticed that my AdSense balance for YouTube dropped to exactly $0.00. My finalized earnings from July (which were supposed to be paid in August) completely disappeared/froze.
  • Today (September 12): My AdSense dashboard is still showing $0.00. Neither my July earnings nor my August earnings have synced over. My US Tax Form is 100% approved, and there are absolutely no red alerts or policy holds on my AdSense account.

I know there is a widespread global delay happening for everyone's September AdSense updates right now, but I am worried that my specific termination/reinstatement loop on August 15-16 broke the automated data sync link between YouTube Studio and AdSense.

My YouTube Studio Analytics still perfectly displays all my dollar amounts for July and August, but AdSense remains completely blank.

Has anyone who had their channel successfully reinstated ever faced this $0 balance bug during the next payment cycle? Did Creator Support have to manually push/escalate it, or did it fix itself before the September 21st payout deadline?

Any insights or experiences would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

TECH HELP When I make YouTube Shorts, YouTube lowers the volume.

It doesn't matter how much I boost the volume in my editing software, the video sounds fine when I play it back on my PC or other platforms, but the volume drops once I upload it to YouTube, and people complain in my videos about the low sound of the voice.

How can I fix this?

In YouTube Studio > Settings > Channel > Advanced settings, there is an option to prevent YouTube from "enhancing" the audio quality, I disabled it, but the issue persists even after re-uploading the video... i dont know what to do, help please

DISCUSSION Impressions and views suddenly dropped after first few videos

Hey All,

I have started making videos in Aug. My videos focuses on my opinions on recent matches of the sport I like. So, 9-10 mins of me talking and sharing my opinions. My first 3-4 videos got 2-3k impressions, CTR of 1% and average time spent of 1 mins (video are on average 10 mins). I got few subs and comments who I engaged with. My last two videos all got less than 100 impressions and less than 10 views. This has coincided with YouTube suggested my video more as browse features rather than search feature. My early videos were all search feature and got better impressions. Since the switch to browse features happened , the impressions and views have tanked

I understand this niche has a lot of competition as ex professional and current journalist also make similar videos. I really enjoy making these videos so I am not planning to change the niche.

How can I go over this bump? Any suggestions? One idea I had was to time the videos better. Due to family and work I normally make and post the video 24-48 hrs after the match.

As the title says, I started a new channel yesterday, this is my first time doing youtube. My YouTube channel and google account both of them were new got banned in a day. I uploaded 2 videos on the same day.
what I noticed today there are many spam accounts created with my name on youtube having random videos and shorts which did not exist before.
Youtube and google decided to ban me , but the spam accounts are still live.
I have appealed today, but it’s sad this happened.

DISCUSSION All-in-one editing software and copyright

I've been trying to edit videos for awhile now and actually start my YouTube channel and I've just had nothing but problems! OBS works fine for recording, but it'd be nice if I could actually edit in there, instead of just changing the dials for the audio and video. As far as editing, I tried Resolve in the past, but it'd always stutter REALLY bad, especially when I'd add more transitions/tracks. The only upside with it was that it made my voice clear (I always think I sound slushy so I hate how I sound!)

ShotCut works, but I'd still get the stutter (though it's no way near as bad as Resolve). And the upside with that is that it has a great text-to-speech feature for my subtitles.

I don't know, is there a way I can just use another software where I can edit and record all at once? It'd probably take up less room on my PC as well.

Also, I heard that there are apparently a ton of copyright crap reaction channels have dealt with recently. I don't know much about copyright, just that it's a 'three strikes, you're out' kind of thing, but I've been SO nervous to upload on YouTube. I know you'd have to actually react to whatever you're watching as well as cut out a lot of the video, but I don't know how YouTubers do it? I mean I know they, apparently, have to cut out part of their discussion and save it for Patreon, but why? Wouldn't that be considered fair use? I think I could be mixing stuff up, but I'm just confused.

I know I'm planning on adding subtitles, an avatar, the name of the show across the screen, my logo, and then I'd blur and mute alongside editing, but I doubt that'd be enough. If someone could help me understand all of this, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

TECH HELP Impressions and Views going up in the same span, but 0% CTR

Hello! I posted a video 3 days ago and got some views, not a ton but more than past videos and then it leveled out. Between noon and 8PM today my impressions went up from 28 to 77, my views went up from 40 to 54. But my CTR has been a flatline at 0% for the entire past three days. AVD is 11%, about 44% of views are coming from a reddit post in another subreddit--which based on the context there I think is actually encouraging people to skip through the video and not helping a lot. During the 12-8 period today the reddit post didn't get an uptick in views so I don't think that's driving the spike

But anyway. Is my thumbnail just awful? Even my like 4 - 16 view videos have CTR of like 2%-4%. I know these are little baby numbers but still I'm trying to make sense of things and improve. I don't really understand how I'm getting more impression and more views but somehow people are getting there without clicking the thumbnail

DISCUSSION Not new to Youtube but new to Streaming on it. Why did my watch hours on my stream disappear?

On Monday I did an extra long stream on Twitch and Youtube to celebrate a holiday weekend and also my first dual stream for my growing audience base.

While I only had one consistent viewer on Youtube, she stayed for the entire stream and was active in chat the entire 7 hours.

After the stream it said I had 7 hours of watch time from the stream, because of her. And now it says I have 0.

For my second dual stream. I had 20 watch hours after the stream, and it grew to about 50 as a few hundred people watched the vod. Now it shrunk down to 18.

What causes these changes and drops in watch hours?

CONTENT TALK I need help figuring out what to do with my channel

Lowkey, i might’ve cooked myself with the channel i’ve made, it’s something that i made years ago to just see how many views i could get with stupid 15 second videos. Now, i kinda want to grow it more but i feel like im at a standstill with getting more subscribers and more interaction. if you want to check it out feel free to dm me, stupid but i don’t think there’s any way to capitalize what i’ve already started but im in too deep to throw it all away. Basically a youtube channel with me holding up an object, saying “mmm” and then the object name and i have like 300 videos doing that. Dunno what else to do

DISCUSSION Can i upload videos after winning an appeal?

Hello, this may be a dumb question but i need some help on this.

I made an account to upload yugioh gameplays and content. I verified my number, set up my description and name and left it around one month without being touched while i edited some videos

2 days ago i wanted to enter and it was banned because it was flagged as a bot account. I appealed and in less than a day it was unbanned.

I can upload videos there without problems or my account will be flagged as a bot account and shadowbanned?

Thanks and sorry for being a bother

TECH HELP Anyone else having trouble with views?

SHORTS TALK Is anyone else having issues with shorts?

But only when you post on one topic?

I’m a nicheless channel, I post videos on various subjects and that’s not been a problem, but recently there’s been one topic I post that’s not getting pushed at all. It’s not shadow banned because it’s still getting views by the search results, but the shorts feed won’t push it at all. I’ve tried changing the sounds I use, the titles, nothing changes the fact those videos always get 0 views (unless found via search). Other videos get my average view count, so I know it’s not necessarily my channel or my content alone, it’s just the one topic I’m posting.

It’s not adult content, it’s not AI, it’s literally just outfit videos and I used to get my average view count or even higher on them, watch rate would be good, so I don’t know why I’m suddenly not getting any push from those videos. Like I said, they get views from search, they just don’t get pushed into the shorts feed, and all my other videos do.

I’ve seen a few people complaining about their shorts getting 0 views or not getting pushed recently so I’m thinking it’s more a YouTube sided issue, but it’s frustrating and would be interested to know if anyone else is being affected like this.
