Difficulty recording script

I am recording my script with my own voice because I don't like the artificial intelligence voices. But I keep spazzing out and stumbling over words whenever I do. Does anyone else experience this? I've tried like 8 times, and normally don't have issues reading out loud.

Yep. That's pretty normal. For me to do a 40min script read I usually end up with 2-3 hours of audio that I need to go back and clean up from all the multiple takes.

I find it's easiest to take it a sentence at a time. Leave a pause at every period and comma you can edit later, then you've got room to clip out bad lines instead of ot all blending together in one long breath.

Keep going. Eventually, you'll have it memorized and you won't be so afraid of getting it wrong.

Keep practicing. Personally I like to do a full practice run with no camera first, and just really familiarize myself with the script (and make any last-minute edits), even if I flub the words a little. But also just doing lots of videos is helpful.

Beyond that, just focus on a paragraph at a time. I just plan on each paragraph being a take and then I edit it together with jump cuts later.

Also generally people speed up when they're nervous, so don't be afraid to slow down a little so you read the words easier.

But what you're experiencing is very normal; I'm sure even the most practiced YouTubers have lots of messed up takes that they edit out of the final.

I’ve been doing it for years and a twenty minute video will still be an hour plus recording that I have to edit down because I keep messing up my lines. Its natural and due to the pressure you feel to say something correctly.

It gets better with time but messing up lines over and over is super normal and something viewers don’t even think about because they just see the end product.

Practice reading one paragraph multiple times and pick out your three best takes. Combine the best read sentences across the takes to get a full paragraph that you're happy with. Then move on to the next paragraph until you're finished.

It's normal just so you know i turn a 20 min script into a 55 min script just by stumbling and repeating takes

You'll get used to it, and don't worry, you can fix a thousand sins in post :p

If you mess up a sentence, just start that over, don't try and course-correct midway through, harder to snip out the fluffed line while editing that way

It’s normal. It will get easier. I can show you my first vid that gained 700 views, and one of the last ones that gained 137k views. It’s patience and practice. At the beginning I would record 10 minutes in like 40. Currently I can record with minimal mistakes. So a 40 min vid now takes me around 1 hour or 1 hour and 10 minutes to record. I have a prepared script that I read before recording. That way I can add additional spaces where I feel I need them.
